Only if the other option was death.
Other than that I would never eat a human.

In other news I found this amazing new food. The nice gent who sold it to me called it "soylent green" or something.
Soylent green is...a lie!
Oh wait maybe that was cake.
No cake was people...now I'm all confused, curse you foods and your decieving qualities!

I have always wondered what we taste like. Judging by the fact doctors use pigs as stand-ins for how a human body would react, I'd say we taste a bit like pork.

There are diseases associated with eating human meat. I would not risk it.
Aren't there diseases associated with eating anything?
It is a disease similar to Mad Cow. A previous poster mentioned it. Incurable degenerative neurological damage.
Exactly. Every time I see a post like this, I think of that disease. It has to do with prions or something. Basically, in most situations, members of the same species should not be eating each other. This, while not the main rationale, is one reason why I would not eat human meat unless my life depended on it.
Considering how long one can go without eating I cannot foresee a situation where that would come up. Eating without water around causes one to starve faster anyways.

I'd eat the first person to croak if I survived a plane crash in the mountains or on some island. I remember reading about the crash survivors in the Andes back when it happened, I would have done the same. Other than that, I'm a fan of chicken and steak personally. I do realize that almost anything is food if it needs to be.

I'm sorry to say but that's pretty gross man. I would never eat a human unless I absolutely had to

No, I would not. I wouldn't be able to stand the thought of it. You look down at your plate and you see the meat before you. all you'd be able to think about that this was once a human; an intelligent, living, human. This person once had dreams and wishes. This person was once a member of society. And now you've reduced them to a pile of flesh. How could I eat that, understanding what it is, and what it represents? What reason is there to do so? To say I did it? Why would I want to be proud of consuming another human? There's no benefit to be gained from it. You prove nothing by doing so. It's just a huge waste of life and I can't imagine myself ever enjoying such a disgusting meal.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to the consumption of other meats. It's just the idea of consuming another sapient creature sickens me.
I get what you're saying and I agree to an extent, though I think on would start to reason differently in extreme situation.

Yeah, I'd try it. Always been curious.

Wouldn't want to eat someone who died of natural causes though, that just wouldn't be healthy.

Only if I was starving and had already eaten my pets and my shoes. And even then, you'd probably need to spice and dress the meat up a lot so I wouldn't be able to tell what I was eating. Otherwise no.

Yes, I would. Purely out of curiosity, or if if was my last hope of survival.

Anyone who would even consider eating human should probably look into getting professional help.
Why?

If you are implying there is some kind of moral obligation not to eat human meat, how so?

There is structurally no difference between eating a human steak and a cow steak. The fact that a human was once like us is completely irrelevant, in death whether you believe in a spirit or not, the body is simply a decomposing shell.

Why let the useful flesh go to waste? Of course, if murder to was done to procure the meat, then there is a problem. But if someone dies of natural causes, their is no reason that their flesh should be wasted in a useless burial. The creation of an industry with people to dissect dead bodies so that the meat could be pre-packaged and sold in supermarkets is an excellent idea. Jobs would be created, horizons broadened and resource saved.

Vegetarians can rejoice in that they are not forced to eat the meat, but less animals are killed due to the sudden addition of a new form of naturally acquired meat. Those who are unable to shed irrational societal conventions don't have to eat the meat, those who can see that there is no moral reason whatsoever to abhor the consumption of human flesh are free to enjoy the new economical food source.

In addition, after the bodies are dissected, the organs ought to be donated to medical/scientific causes, the bones and parts not fit for human consumption put towards animal food and the bodies disposed of through environmentally friendly means. If cremation is deemed dangerous to the environment for whatever reasons, chemical disintegration is possible, or a technologically inspired mass grave.

In short, the process of burial in individual coffins has become expensive, foolish and redundant.

If it's offer to me free of any legal problems, I'll try it. I don't go out of my way to look for them though.
