No, because it's really not as healthy as most think. There are vitamins and proteins in milk that you need and better at building muscle than supplements. Plus, almost every vegan I know is way too fucking skinny for their own good, and have to eat like 5 meals a day.

Plus, take away my ribeye steak, and you will die.
there are vegans at my boxing club, there are vegan UFC fighters, i don't personally know any skinny vegans .. if you do some research you'll find out that there are many plants with high proteins

When I was younger I did actually try being vegan, lasted about two months. I can honestly say I have never felt so bad in my life: weak and tired. No, I wasn't just eating broccoli. I had soy and beans and all that stuff, but it just doesn't cut it.

To anyone who says being vegan is healthier I really want to give them a good shake. Healthier than what? Eating at McDonalds? Well duh! but healthier than eating an honestly balanced diet of animals that were farm raised, fed on real food, and ethically treated mixed with green vegetables and grains? I don't see how, you are just denying yourself additional nutrients.

Every long term vegan I have ever met looked like they were one step away from anorexia. :(

As for ethics... what is ethical? There is no objective answer to that, just limitless subjectives varying from culture to culture. I personally see nothing wrong with killing an animal so I can supplement my diet. That's just the reality of life.

No, hell no, no. If I had to give up meat, people would die. I would become a cannibal before I became vegan.

I don't even mean ovo-lacto vegetarian, I'm talking PURE vegan.

Vegans consume neither the animal or the products of any animal with a face, meaning that things like milk
Okay, stop. The answer is no, no going vegan for me. You not only want me to stop eating meat, but no milk? Not a chance.

As for any possible health benefits, so what? I'm going to die anyway, so screw it. I'm going to have a big juicy burger with a side of fries every now and then and I'm going to enjoy the hell out of it.

No - From my view point vegetarianism is hypocritical. I believe all life has equal value. did you know plants scream in the ultra sonic range when damaged, or that the acacia tree will release tannins when fed apon which makes its leaves unpalatable. These tannins are also digestion inhibitors. The tree also gives off a scent signal, upon which trees in the surrounding areas will pre-emptively increase their own tannin levels.

In short it knows when it's being eaten and doesn't like it. To me that implies that it feels pain. If it didn't feel pain then how else would it know it's being eaten.

Also this:
yeah but hunting and caging are 2 different things ... if we still had to hunt i wouldn't be vegan .. quickly killing an animal that has lived a full life to feed yourself and or family is perfectly natural ... caging, unethical farming ... that may be natural ... but there's no balance. it's just something else entirely.

also that chart was interesting but you're assuming ALL these products come from the same company and everyone uses said products. there are ways around living that don't involve the body of a cow
I put it to you that it is impossible to actually maintain a true vegan lifestyle. Unless you are aware of every component of every thing you use and research and continuously monitor the manufacturing process it is almost certain that you will use something that has dead bits of animal in it somewhere or was used in its manufacture.

Did you know that rendered animal fat is to this day used in steel mills in the production of sheet steel
Ride in a car? Vegan fail. Live in a house? Vegan fail.

I?m not vegan, but I am a lacto-ovo-vegetarian (I still eat egg and dairy products). I was raised vegetarian, whatever my mother?s reasons were, well, I don?t really care. All I know is that I?ve tried eating meat on various occasions and found it, well, kind of gross. I suppose I gave eating meat the same chance other people give eating nothing but vegetables. I tried it out but it just wasn?t for me.

Just wanted to say that you are certainly correct, many plants do have protein, one example of these rare plants is wheat... yeah. But, it is honestly harder to get a full balanced diet as a vegan. As a vegetarian it's pretty easy, but full on vegan has some challenges to it.

And the benefits in no way make up for the downsides to me personally.

no, you don't have to be attractive to look in the mirror, smile and feel good about yourself
Yes, I know that you do not have to be attractive to do that. But many people still think that they have to be "attractive" to do that.
and that's the problem ... like i said, if you feel good about yourself after you've changed your life in some way, you seem healthier, feel healthier and are committed and at peace ... then you're going to want to smile when you look in the mirror.

those people who think that are obviously in a dark place .. either that or they're insensitive douchebags ... when you feel good about yourself and you find peace and confidence then looking in the mirror and smiling isn't something you have to try to do ... you just will

I could go vegetarian, not vegan.

That being said, I understand it's possible, but it's also very expensive to get it to work right...and I have no intention of being a wealthy person. Plus it takes an incredible amount of time I don't have.

As it stands, I have no moral issue with eating meat. I acknowledge I am an animal and that I have developed a certain body over the course of evolution to eat as many things as possible. That does not offend me. I do REDUCE the amount of meat I eat to lighten the ecological impact I have on the planet. I applaud people who have the resources to do what I cannot yet.

oh hell yeah, you're definitely right there ... it is alot harder.
you constantly find yourself looking over ingredients of anything you're unsure about before you put it in the trolley, you have to do extra research to make sure you get everything you need and you're doing it right .. alot of people simply can't stand you ... it's definitely hard to get into it but i can imagine it's second nature once you get the hang

same as everything really. can be dangerous without guidence and if you don't know what you're really doing.

being vegetarian is definitely easier and you have a bigger selection of easily obtainable sources of good stuff your body needs. i thought about this for a while but the reason i ended up going full vegan are just down to personal demons i wish to put at rest once and for all

Give up bacon? Cereal? Pankcakes? Sausage? Eggs?

I wouldn't be able to eat breakfast, and eat tasty meat?

Hell no.

And being vegan doesn't mean you're healthy. Protein and fats are needed for a healthy body.
you can get all the protein/fats you need from greens
No, you really can't. And besides, why not eat meat? So long as your smart about it, there's nothing stopping you from enjoying a nice steak and being healthy. The only real reason to become a vegan is if you're against the idea of eating animals, which I find ridiculous.

I love how internetz people KNOW everything especially when it comes to pretty specialist things like what's healthy. I'll start by a long shot, I really love to play poker so in the weekends I end up doing online sessions long as 30-35 hours. Really drains me off energy especially when I had no idea what having a healthy body means. I'll add that my role model is a certain Daniel negreanu which if you know him you know why I brought it up.

Anyway the thing is even if I'm not what you guy seem to call a vegan,I don't eat meat for one simple reason: it's a kind of food that is actually drainig your body of energy which as I said I really need for long game sessions. Same goes for smoking and coffee not that it has anything with beeing a vegan.

Point is if you like talking about beeing a vegan in abstract like most of the posts I've read seem to do fine with me it's forum trolling in the end. But if you actually want to eat healthy for a reason like I do,other need cardio or whatever etc.,getting rid of meat especially red meat it's the wisest thing you can do. I for example always loved peas and mash potatoes, can someone not like those?

it's really really not. the real reasons are extremely personal
as for the "you can't get all you need from veg" i have a few friends that've been doing it for quite a long time and seem very healthy so it should be cool.

I just about am. The only animal products I'm really willing to eat anymore are eggs and honey, and I don't even remember the last time I ate eggs. But, while I'd be perfectly willing to give up eggs, especially since the kind of eggs I still eat are so expensive, I don't think I ever could give up honey, so I guess true veganism is just not gonna happen for me.

I agree with you about this but I do not agree with persons that says that you have to do a certain change to do this like going vegan.
