Can I be one of 4 security guys on the colony, and then die when the aliens attack?

Is it a cold desolate rock where we have to stay in bio dome colonies the whole time? Or is it a hospitable planet on its own and is easily adaptable to life similar to ours? Either way I probably wouldn't go because I have a fear of space.

Depends on a couple of factors, not least how quickly and to what degree the first colonists will be able to bootstrap the technological and industry sectors. I don't mind hard labor for the most part, and would certainly do whatever is necessary to help establish the colony, but I am not particularly willing to travel lightyears away in order to have a lifelong career in the farming business, somehow I think the cattle will stink just as bad regardless of what planet they are on.

No, no way in hell. The whole "universal empire" thing terrifies me. No fucking way in hell would I ever leave Earth. Nope.

Sure. I have no real skill, but I am large and have a red shirt. Will that be enough?
I would invest in life insurance before landing on the surface. /nerd joke

I don't think I would go. "Work my trade"? What am I, a carpenter? No, I'm not. I'm currently trained as a lab scientist. Not much use in a starting colony.

If my family situation wasn't so "out of whack," I would definitely go. Since getting job is quite difficult in my field, I'm sure that they could use someone in my field. I also have other talents that would be helpful and I will do the right thing should I suspect any foul play. It would be tough, since I have lots of family and friends on Earth, but I'll be exciting to travel the universe in search for a new inhabitable world.

No. I would stay behind until everyone else left and then become Grand Emperor of Earth by default. Then I would go to the new planet with a smug grin knowing that I once held the title of Grand Emperor of an entire planet. Not sure what that would really accomplish, but it'd be a nice conversation starter, I'd imagine.

I definitely would agree to go. I might die? Big deal, we all die sooner or later. Might as well broaden my horizons while I can.

It would depend on how the system works in all honesty. I don't exactly have the skillset to be a frontiersman, farmer, doctor, engineer, or other obviously useful trade in such an environment. The best I could hope for would be to be in charge of the spaceships library... And they would probably have an electronic one too...

While I very much like the idea of getting off this rock and going somewhere new, I doubt I'd be very useful to a brand new colony.

As long as they let us have what ever is equivelent to firearms in the future to defend ourselves from the infection or zerg that comes to kill us all, than yes.

No I wouldn't as I am far too attach on this planet mainly the medias like game, comic, TV and etc. I assume this travel will mean the lost of these due to the connection will be weak.

Yes. I've thought about this a lot, but the major deciding factor would be the number of available women brought along on the journey. I can't get laid on Earth where there are billions of them. I wouldn't light out for a territory where men significantly outnumber the women.

Under your conditions, no. But I would volunteer for the armed forces that follow soon after we lose contact with those who went first. Yeah, those don't always work out well, but at least I'll get the chance to kill some aliens before a facehugger finds me.
