Would you kill the Joker?

Batman doesn't kill not because he's a pussy. He just knows his limitations. He's self aware enough to know that he's two steps away from being one of the real crack pots. One justifiable murder with joker could easily turn into "Eh, I've killed guys I found to be bad before, what's one more?"

Yes, the Joker's evil. Yes, he doesn't deserve to breathe the same air as us or especially of those families he has robbed of loved ones... But what's the difference between killing many because you have an uncontrollable insane urge to... and killing many those who go against your moral code (which just happens to be aligned somewhat similarly to the legal system)? When is it senseless murder, and when is it murder that you can happen to just explain away saying "well, he was a criminal so it's ok!"?

Also, this isn't defense of batman. I dislike him as a character. But I can understand why he does what he does.

DC is a universe of science and magic and mutagens.

Given that Joker is often quoted as a chemical genius, you'd probably give rise to cyber joker or Bang Baby Joker.

It's afternoon, Captcha, but you one crazy *****...

Yeah, with the kind of psychological issues Batman has, allowing himself to kill someone could be what tips him over to the dark side. If Batman became evil, he would be much worse than the Joker.

I'd kill him, but not with the gun... unless it's a smoothbore with bullets I cast myself (and is not an autoloader. I don't want to let a casing hit the ground). Also, do I have gloves and a full hooded mask on? Last thing I want is to leave evidence for Batman to trace later.

I wouldn't have to. I could shoot him in the leg so he can't escape, and let the cops take him. As a mass-murderer, there's no fucking way he wouldn't end up with a in a maximum security prison somewhere with a death sentence over his head. For those of you are saying he would escape, I direct you to this conversation:

There has never been an escape from a super-max prison.
Yeah, because Arkham Asylum is just a white-collar prison with a revolving door...

We're talking about a comic-book world here, my friend. There might not be any escapes from super-max prisons in reality, but the Joker doesn't exist in reality. He exists in a world where breaking out of a super-max prison is just something on his to-do list for Thursday.
If we're talking comic-book world here, then no one would be able to kill him.

Anyone like us normal shmucks pointing a gun at an essential character's head like the Joker always die in the comic book world. Usually being surprised by a trick up the joker's sleeve that ends up being a horrible death for the one with a gun. He wouldn't have himself in that situation to begin with.

Normal unknown people can't stand up to villians or heroes in the comic book world, so the hypothetical is impossible I'm afraid XD
I see there are quite a few more pages, so this conversation might keep going, but I'm pretty convinced. If I even have the ability to kill the Joker, then it means that we're talking about the real world, not the comic-book world. And in the real world, people don't escape super-max prisons.

EDIT: Also, if I kill the Joker, Batman WILL find out. I would not want to be me when that happens.

not beat him to pulp but really just cut off his arm and legs.
I've seen a couple of people saying this, the supposed "morality" of it confuses me. How exactly is putting someone through unimaginable pain and crippling them for life LESS wrong then just shooting them in the head?

Might as well ask me if I'd accept a blowjob giving robot that ran on dreams.

I'd kill the Joker without hesitation. And then I'd patiently wait for the Joker to come back to life somehow and kill me.

Since I'm 100% sure of all factors involved, yes.

As quickly as possible before he wakes up.

Sometimes murder is justified, but I'd still lose sleep over it. I'd probably do exactly the same thing if presented with future situations like this one though.

As far as the joker coming back to life. I'd shoot him now in the brain and since he's unconscious he probably wouldn't even know I'm the one who did it. I'd have delayed his schemes and probably saved hundreds of people.

I'd love to see whatever could bring a multiple headshot victime back to life, intellect, personality and all. Cybernetics or regeneratives would be useless.

I have no idea what a lazarus pit is though.

Only if it was funny.

I think ultimately, the Joker deserves to go out as the punchline rather than the setup.

Because this is the DC Universe, where they sell robotic limbs on every street corner. Do we really want a cyborg Joker?

So.........here is a 3rd option that I never hear before.
Of course if a hero do this, he/she don't deserve to be called a hero.

*I will forget for a moment I am huge fan of the Joker in the movie "Dark Knight"*

If I had the power to catch Joker...........oh boy, I wouldn't kill him.........no.....killing him will bring to him satisfaction.
But having him for years inside a cell and do the most unthinkable things to make him suffer.......oh joy for me.
I would made him wish to take a f*cking gun and kill himself. But I wouldn't. I want to torture this bastard.

Pull of a tooth from his fake smile.
Drill a rusty nail to his sinful flesh.
Burn his rotten flesh.

Every.SIngle.Day.Keeping.Him.Alive.Until.I.Die.

My friends, we don't need a hero to make Joker a good boy.
We need someone that enjoy every single moment he make Joker unhappy.

Here a good idea [and mine of course]:

Wipe out his f*cking memory.

I am not a huge fan of DC universe, but I think at least one hero/villain have the power to manipulate or erase the memory of a human being.

Pretty much where I was going to go with this, killing him seems to simple.

Would I slot the Joker?
No, probably not. But I would certainly help arrest the Joker. With everything he's done, there's no jury in any NATO aligned country that would not sentence him to execution. Assuming that the prison system that takes responsibility for the J is not staffed by a legion of thoroughly incompetent morons, the Joker will get fried on the hair or face a firing squad before the year is out. Cremate the remains and throw what's left into the sea and let us all bid farewell to the nutter.

Yep. Definitely. Sure he's fun and entertaining to watch, but if I was in universe, I would kill that insane psycho without a second's thought. Because he isn't going to stop. Ever. And not killing him - knowing that - is tantamount to sanctioning every murder he commits from that point on.

I'm pretty sure someone tried that, and it didn't stick - he's too insane. I think you're forgetting that this is comic book land, where non-lethal ALWAYS equals non-permanent when it comes to dealing with villains.

Assuming killing him would be permanent and that not killing him would eventually lead to him healing or making whatever non-lethal option you chose irrelevant, then absolutely.

Anyone who says they wouldn't is either stupid or selfish (not trying to be an asshole, just stating my opinion). They're stupid because they believe they could permanently cripple or contain the Joker, or they're selfish because they would rather let a crazy psychopath, who is surely going to kill countless more innocent people, go free rather than compromise their "values" or "principles".

Not to mention, if he wakes up he will probably find out you saw him, chose to let him live... and then would kill you for the lulz.

An ordinary person just happening to have the chance to kill the Joker and then taking it would actually be a really interesting story for Batman comics/whatever.

No

Death never seems permanent in that universe. If and when he revives he would remember what I did and direct some of his plans at me.

Dont see why you wouldnt its not like he is a maybe criminal who has not committed any crimes and may change. Hes an obvious criminal, who has already committed mass murder, and clearly has every intention for striking again. For anyone who dares say do not kill him Ill ask you this. How would feel knowing you let him go, and the next day your whole family was one of his casualties. You could have saved all of their lives if you had just ended the rein of a clearly mad man. For me it does not even have to be that personal because I can comprehend that someones family somewhere suffers when a mad man goes on a killing spree. And ending a mad man who clearly wants to go on killing sprees is saving the lives of many at the cost of one, not very worthy soul.

Under normal circumstances I would, but under the circumstances that you listed (Me and him alone with me holding a gun), I don't think I could do it. I would definitely hold him there till the police arrive, but I couldn't just straight up kill him when he's doing nothing, and has nothing to defend himself.
