Would you support this law?

Not really. There are some games which still support some kind of points feature.
Many RPG's have you murder dudes, do quests or explore to help you get XP points which then turn into Skill points when you level up
Bulletstorm had you murder dudes in hilarious, brutal and stylish ways to get points to restock or acquire equipment.
Some fighting games have a points feature that allows you to unlock additional game content
Some games have a points feature to rank your performance throughout the game

I'd more support a law stating that people should research and study topics before they talk about them.

OK, I understand what you're referring to, but plenty of games still use points. Like, experience points in RPGs. Or various "Challenge" modes that use a scoring system. Or even your Effective Military Score in ME3. Or statistics in real-time-strategy games. Or any multiplayer game ever....The list goes on.

I'd be supportive of a law preventing ANY crime-procedural TV show from ever mentioning videogames again. Or computers, for that matter.

'Dump 'em on the other side of the router!'

Yes. Dump them on the other side of the box that connects our computers to the internet. That means something.
I haven't seen that in context, but I'm like 90% sure that this scene was made as a joke. The writers probably figured that the old people watching the show wouldn't notice the stupidity of it, and we'd have something to laugh about.
Joke or not, this isn't exactly an isolated incident.

Be as sarcastic as you like, but if you don't think a topic is worthy of being discussed, nobody is forcing you to read it or reply to it.
Too late, the thread title didn't look like its contents would be stupid so I read it anyway. And nobody's forcing me to not criticize it either.

So why are you using the weak-ass excuse of "if you don't like something just pretend it doesn't exist"? Maybe I can do that same thing for the news post itself. Don't like it? Change the channel.
See how dumb that sounds?
There's a difference between pretending something that is important doesn't exist because you do not like it, and ignoring a thread that has no interest in you.

That is in no shape or form the same thing as ignoring somebody spreading lies to further an agenda.

If I don't have an interest in racing games, then going into a thread about them just to mention I do not like them or do not think they should be discussed would be pathetic.

Not to mention against the rules unless I actually contributed to the topic.

It should be called the Cowboy Bebop At His Computer Decree.

If you offend it, you get shot.
But, Ed's a girl, not saying she can't use a computer, or isn't an awesome hacker, just, also a girl =P
I'm guessing that's the point of the post. The character is not called Cowboy Bebop, and is not male, the piece of print (I think) media Mr.Novgorod posted has got this wrong.

OT: No. It is a pointless law about something that I have never encountered before and wouldn't really care about if I did...and, well, you know that, because this isn't a serious thread, so...umm... bye.

I sort of can't, because...freedom of speech and all. How about journalists are not allowed to pass of conjecture as fact when talking about videogames, or they are fired? They can still talk about it, just not with any authority.

Oh. I thought I heard something going over my head, figured it was just a plane. Thanks, and sorry Novgorod...she's still a girl though, news people, of article clip thing.

I'll see your double keyboard and raise you a GUI interface:

These two videos pissed me off far more than they should have in hind sight. I sat there for a good 5 minutes making a low growling sound in sheer anger. I think a blood vessel popped in my brain and I'm slowly dying from blood loss.

OT: I don't think this "points" law should be made, unless of course they specifically name a game that has no highscore system in place. Then they need to be stripped of their job as a journalist and given the job title of "Town Crazy Hobo" that gets to wave their genitalia at traffic on Thursdays.

If a journalist mentions the word "points" while talking about games that are newer than the SNES, they are banned from ever talking about video games again.
I'd have to suggest anyone who supports this law should stop talking about games.

Points still exist in games.

DMC: Points
RO2: Points (Actually, scratch that. Basically every online multiplayer)
RPGs: Experience Points (Not a score thing, but still points)
Hitman Absolution: Points.

So many games have points. So, since the basis of your post was about asking ignorant people not to talk about things, please do the same.

A better idea: Force them to tell the truth. If they do the Mass Effect reporting about playable sex: Ban. If they say that games score you for murdering pedestrians that don't. Ban. Etc, etc.

But of course, you can't talk about that. Because you're "Banned" from talking about games.
