Oh god. Bradster. He plays on my server... curse the appeal of vanilla human magi. I just hope none of his automatons in his small, personal army turns their attention towards me when he ransacks Stormwind.

Can I ask what you like to do with your free time? You like playing games don't you? Think of it this way: In my life, I enjoy playing WoW in place of what you answered.

Oh, and the "I hang out with my friends" excuse doesn't work because I do that too. Most of my friends play WoW with me. It is a way of hanging out with my friends from other states that I can't _____insert activity you enjoy_____ with. Thanks for being just another insensitive person who bases their opinions on stereotypes generated by a select few people who don't know what moderation is.

Oh Lawd!

Next step: Hooking up your whole nervous system to the computers. Bradster would end up looking like that Command Center lady from Starcraft.

I'm sad now. This is quite depressing. All that money wasted that could have gone to porn and chips.

Wait a sec, how does he even play 36 characters at once? Or is he just really fast at switching keyboards?
DISCLAIMER: Will Probably confuse you. (i don't do it. waste of money)

works from octopus, it will send your instructions out to eight of the computers and all of the characters on those computers from the one keyboard you are using...but if he used keyclone on the other computers that are separate and linked them to the computer (through keyclone) so the originally non linked computers would take the instructions from the computers that are taking instructions from the original computer then he could control all of the characters from 1 keyboard and mouse.

To be honest, this is pretty sad. I mean, I'd probably do it if money just materialized in front of me whenever I bloody well felt like it, and I didn't like going outside and, you know, doing stuff.

This guy has the ultimate anti-social personality, however, he basicly turned a MMORPG to a straight up RPG, which is awsome. I would like to know what his day job entails and if he lives by himself or with his parents.

If I have that type of setup, I could have at least setup a internet cafe or a computer hub for business. To think what job he has is interesting...

Apologies to the more broadminded of you, and I will admit some of this is generated by the "other" thread on the same topic. I'm directing this at people that can't see past their own nose.

Here are some "theories" (most are common, some are not) about the person that owns this system (some taken from the clone thread, linked up there):

He has no life.

He has never felt the touch of a woman.

He is overweight / ugly / smelly.

He should be killed (spoons are funny, but otherwise its full of issues that need looking at urgently).

He is a loser.

He has no social skills.

He is worse in every way possible than you.

He is to be pitied. Poor thing.

Do any of the above sound like the thoughts and feelings of mature rational people? Or more like petty insults thrown around in elementary school? Do yourselves a favour and raise your game. The Escapist is meant to be a classy forum.

This is what we know about him for sure:

He has a better system than any of us.

Like us, he is enjoying his gaming.

He has a lot of money to spend on his hobby.

He's not littering forums with crap about other games, and the players of those games.

I suspect the last one isn't because every other game or gamer is beyond criticism, but rather he's mature enough not to do that. Perhaps his social / family / work life doesn't afford him the time. Yes, I really said that.

Does it make him a loser? If he has the disposable income to do that then he's probably has a much better career than many of us currently. Money isn't everything, but I can assure you he's not a loser if he's self sufficient enough to pay his own bills unlike some of the naysayers.

Whilst his sex life is completely irrelevant, it still got brought up in the clone thread linked further up the page. If he is an inferior specimen, why are people who are allegedly superior dedicating time talking about some random guy's love life? I suppose a quick post or two can be squeezed in while the harem takes a shower in preparation for the next sex marathon, right?

He's probably married with kids, plays as much as any of us and is in control. You don't that he isn't.

Who is he? He's a gamer who has created a massive project for himself. Among gamers I would have thought he would be treated in a less juvenile fashion.

I'm going to take a wild stab at it and say it's because he plays WoW.

He'd be getting high fives and back slaps if he was playing a game that YOU enjoyed.

What would be really nice and faith restoring is that these people could look beyond their own, sometimes crude definitions of what is acceptable and imagine that they don't make the rules about what is fun, worthy and cool for EVERYONE.

I only speak out of a desire to see a less prejudiced community, and for balance.

Since we don't know him, I propose people stop creating this fantasy world for him as it is ugly and indicative of the ability to be swayed by something other than what is real.

I'll take his fantasy world, over one that consists of unproven assumptions based on bigotry and stereotyping.

What is really irking me about this community (I've lurked for a while) is that every time a thread mentioning wow pops up it is by default turned into a troll thread by people that don't even know they're doing it. If people don't see this as a problem, then I fully expect to see threads on how all black people are criminals, all English people wear bowler hats and have cucumber sandwiches with the Queen, how all Americans are obese and stupid and how there are no exceptions to poorly informed stereotypes.

Perhaps we should stop talking about WoW altogether since there's only one thing worse than having "no life" and that's spending an inordinate amount of time dedicated to talking about people with "no life". That's the crazy part.

Not on you, no, because you need to grow up and realise the world doesn't stop with what you think is acceptable. Unless... you're a secret spokesman for the New World Order. In that case I'm sorry, and do I have to have this chip in my arm, sir?

I will defend this guy as much as I like, because it's more humane than mindlessly associating the picture with: poor hygiene, poor social skills, no life etc.

If we saw a picture of a plush home recording studio, and perhaps knowing the owner was Black, you bet I'd tell every one that said he was a criminal to afford it they were talking shit.

That's essentially what is going on and it makes people look stupid.

You lose credibility for a couple of things:

A) If you can't compose proper sentences, with correct punctuation and capitalization, I can't take you seriously. People that are too lazy or ignorant to realise that sentences need full stops (periods), capital letters at the start of sentences and for "i" when referring to yourself... lets just say if you're going to argue, at least do it by attempting to approach the level of thought I put into mine. Otherwise I'll just think you lack the ability to express yourself in an intelligent fashion. How is *that* going to work?

B) You judge the guy with the monster rig based on your own past weakness for the game. If you played too much that is entirely your fault and responsibility. I play for 3-4 hours in the week and around 5-6 hours at weekends. Happy times.

C) The guy with the rig is doing things in WoW faster than people playing 1 account at a time. He doesn't have to wait around for groups, he levels faster and if that and his disposable income are anything to go by, has a better job and more free time outside of gaming than a lot of people.

If you wouldn't do what he does, that is totally understandable due to you not having the financial resources to do it, and your previous inability to control your gaming will influence this. That is your right to express that but do NOT presume that what is right for you, is right for everyone.

Anyway, I probably lost you after two lines, so keep those blinkers on.

Long Long Long Defense

He spends $5k a year JUST on the subscription. Never mind the money it costs for the equipment, electricity and other assorted costs.

For that sort of money surely, surely he could think of something better to do with his time.

Theres nothing wrong with WOW, if you like that sort of thing, for the amount it costs is reasonable. The amount he is spending, irregardless of how much he makes, Is just not.

I agree with Unimagined on this point because every time I open go into a forum with WoW in the title someone always has to mention that the game is associated with a lack of life or social interaction and I find that highly disturbing considering the other intelligent posts written on other forums(like the one above). I have played WoW and have wanted to do exactly what this guy is doing but I am not going to call him out just because he has the drive and resources to do so. I also have to admire his ability to multitask. A raid is difficult even when you have a large group people working separate computers so if he is able to pull it off alone I truly feel sorry for the Alliance on his server. This guy could be the most dedicated player to any MMORPG ever and he shouldn't be taunted for that but rewarded.

I think that's pretty damn cool what he did... say what you want about it, but what really cool things have you done lately?

I would like to know more how he can really play that many characters at once. Even for standard tank and spank bosses that would be hard, but for a battleground premade or a boss like Shade of Aran in Kara-- I'd really like to see videos of his work.

The 10 million or whatever people playing World of Warcraft are all wasting time and devoting themselves toward goals with nothing to show for it once the computer is turned off. Well he has a lot to show for it. And there is something to be said for wasting time and money and elevating it to an art form.
