Forcing you to write might cause the quality of the writing to drop though, so I don't think it is a good idea.
This. Inspiration takes time, damn it.

Also, what is this bad music you speak of?

I've been using Write or Die since September. I absolutely find it useful. Yknow. In distracting me from being distracted by porn and webcomics.

I get the feeling that most people are not going to be motivated by this program, and rather just shut it off altogether.

Man, my friends are going to hate me. Now to find a way to get it to run in a background program surreptitiously.

the concept behide its is spectacular, but i have issues with the application.

Deleting what you have written seems a tad bit extreme.

Im pretty sure this was made for me.
I have a lot of C.Vs and application forms to write for jobs and University.
Also, I've been wanting to write a little novel and a few concepts for games that I have thought up.

But the goddamn internet is holding me back, with its youtube videos and hilarious blogs full of witty people. Not to mention the Escapist keeps whispering things in my ear:

"Work? Are you sure you dont want to hear Yahtzee's dulcet tones? No? How about catching up on the latest news? It will only take a few days seconds".

I used this program for NaNoWriMo last year and it worked very well, but only for certain purposes. I wouldn't find it useful if I were to write an assignment for school, because you have to come up with something to write very fast. But when I used it for writing my novel I just set my goal to five hundred words and thought out the scene I wanted to write in advance. In my experience it works best if you set it to short time or word limits, because for longer scenes you do need to stop and think.

But that said, personally I find this to be something of a gimmicky application, since I have no problem writing concentrated for short periods of time.

Didn't really have an effect on me. I tried normal mode with my speakers turned off, and totally forgot about it.
