Umm... MW 2 is a good game and all, but I wouldn't say it's worth of an excellent writing award. Or Wet. Dragon Age would have been a better nominee.

ROFL! I seriously doubt these people are in any way qualified to judge writing quality if THIS is the best they can come up with. Wet? Mewtwo? X-Men: Origins??? What the hell are the criteria here?

I'm not saying that they should pick a game I happen to like, but how in the world did Wolverine get up there? And where's Dragon Age? Seriously, this is like nominating Transformers 2 for the Oscar for Best Movie...

Modern Warfare 2.

Riiight...

I can't say I agree, to put it at it's mildest.
Yeah. But, if they nominate Wet, they're probably going to pick Modern Warfare 2. The story wasn't as incredible as Uncharted 2 or Assassin's Creed 2 yet, they will pick it. I still think Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time had a better story than Modern Warfare 2. Yet, because of Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer they'll pick it.

-Woh my post is boring, Skirt
So they'll give a game a 'Best Writing Award' for a multi player element. There a lot of Story in that multi player?

I mean, any multi player element to most of the games i've played would be outclassed on literary terms by Crank. Don't get me wrong, i found Crank fecking hilarious, but i wouldn't call it a Masterpiece.
Did you even read my post? It was SARCASM . Modern Warfare 2's story was alright. It was not the best story of the year. What I meant was that it is a possibility that Modern Warfare 2 will win the Best Writing Award because of its multiplayer's influence. A lot of things win awards for an unrelated reason.
It's not my fault your sarcasm sucks.
It's not my fault your reading sucks. See, I can do the same thing. You may want to develop your wit a bit more before posting more. But that's just a suggestion.

I get Assassins Creed 2, but to me it seemed like the game was just floating on a few bits of story through most of it then picked up during the Desmond parts and at the end, but whatever.

Although I love Uncharted 2, I don't think it deserves a place here.

Bunch of treasure hunters go looking for some asian/south-american legendary treasure, racing against some evil dude who's always hot on their heels, only to reach the treasure and find it's just a metaphor but still holds a lot of power, the good guys get out just before the sacred place is blown halfway to hell. It seems pretty much like every treasure hunting movie ever.

Assassins Creed 2 was a very, very good game. Only disappointment is the fetch quests (reduced from the tedious flag collecting of the first one, but still fetch quests *sighs*) and the ending was just stupid.

Modern Warfare 2 I did actually buy for the story. The storyline was terrible, but the story levels themselves blew me away, especially Cliffhanger and Endgame.

I want to play Uncharted 2, but I do not have a PS3, just an Xbox 360 and Wii. All the priase that has been poured upon that game intrigues me.

But seriously, WTF with X Men and Wet. Wet was just boring, and the story was just 'O...kay?'. And a film tie-in game?! Seriously, these guys may be the Writers Guild, but if they give a nomination to this they need to get checked up. They might hurt us by nominating something like Imagine Babyz as Game of 2009.

I'm pretty sure these games were chosen because they were the only ones eligible.
MW2? Wet?

If the best option you have - considering your painfully slim pickings - is a Dan Brown potboiler in the form of ACII, then perhaps you really should not be offering these awards.

Shamus Young is right: It's either a troll or a joke. That said, my bet is on this being a shameful publicity grab for the WGA - and not one that will work out for them in the end.
