WTF ENTEI?!?

I'm assuming you never played the original Gold/Silver. He, Raikou, and Suicune all run around the map after Burned Tower. Whenever you go to a new route or town, they change their location. If you just happen to be lucky enough to be on the same route as them, you must catch them immediately, or else they'll run, and you have to track them down again. Good hunting!

EDIT: Forget what I said about Suicune. He's a special case in HG/SS.

Seriously! An Entei! Of course, I hit it with a Surf from my Tentacool, and then it ran away. The fuck?!?

So, two questions. One, is this Entei encounter normal? Two, have you ever been in a Pokemon encounter and REALLY wished you had a Master Ball?

Are you new to the world of Gold/Silver? It happens with all the dogs. Yet it never seems to happen when I have a master ball on me... :/

Anyways, in HGSS, you use the Pokégear's Map to track it (an Icon of its head appears on the map on a random route). I, for one use Master Balls that I got through cheats for this (The best thing: In tournaments, you can claim to have used the Pokémon/Item duplication glitch in the GTS in D/P to get the hacked Master Ball. YAYZ).

Back when I still played Pokemon I ran into a Pokemon that well I don't know what it was, maybe a programming glitch but it was a Crystal Tentacool, it looked nothing like the others, so I wanted to catch it pretty bad but I ended up killing it instead by accident. =(

That's not a glitch, it's a shiny pokemon, very rare, what was it? something like 1 in every 100,000 encounters? I could be wrong, heard it somewhere.

If I recall right Entei can pretty much be encountered anywhere, just don't kill him if you plan on catching him at some point. You can also chase him down using the pokedex now, but he tends to move around quite a bit. (You can encounter the other dogs too I think)

I met a shiny Krabby once, while fishing for a Magikarp in Pearl; I didn't start fishing until I had the Good Rod, which set me back a little. Anyway, I accidentally killed the Krabby instead of catching it. Made me a sad panda.

8 in 65536; simplified as 1/8192 I believe. *nerds out*

Personally the only shiny I've ever caught aside from the Red Gyarados was a pink Whooper, but hey most of the shiny pokemon don't look too great anyway, I'm just glad they don't have better stats like they used to.

Ahh... that makes sense... lol...
But yeah, those dogs are a pain in the ass. I've never caught one. Oh, and unless they changed it from the old one, you can use the pokedex to see where they are after you see them the first time, but they move fast and flying makes them jump across somewhere else really fast...

Ahh I had this probelm with Latias and Latios. The key? False Swipe, False Swipe, False Swipe, then when it's down to one HP use a pokemon with an ability that stops it from running away.
