Yea mine freezes sometimes.. All of them have..like every system ive ever owned freezes from time to time...I wouldn't worry about it. Since video games and consoles have been around they lock up occassionally. Christ ive even had arcade games crash.

Yeah it's happened to me before too, the only things I can say about it are that it tends to happen when I've been playing for ages or at a certain point in a level. In other words it's the PS3 overheating or the game being damaged.

Were you ontop of a building by any chance? Cos the exact same thing happend to me this afternoon too. How weird.
No joke, I thought you meant was he physically on top of a building, with the system. My thinking was "What the hell does that have to do with anything?" then I realized you meant IN GAME on top of a building.

It happens to me about once a month, regardless of what game I'm on.
I just turn it off, it angrily beeps at me, then everything's fine and dandy.

EDIT:
This has been going on before the 3.0 update, by the way.

So I was playing inFamous on my PS3, I was gleefully running around and killing everyone with my evil lightning when all of a sudden GAME FREEZE.
I couldn't pull up my PS3's menu or anything.
I was in the middle of a mission and Reapers were shooting and me, and I ran up to a buildin to begin to climb it... I noticed that Cole had developed cement feet.

I pushed buttons, nothing happened, I tried to pull up the PS3 menu by hitting the middle button, NOTHING.
It happened more than once too..

Has anyone besides me had problems like this?
Chill we all had problems right now it's just the update wait it out.

I don't know if it's the slim or the 3.0 firmware. I believe it's the firmware but I read Sony is looking into it. Hope they hurry it up!
I'd agree it sounds like a conflict between some games programing and the new firmware, perhaps a new feature added in wasn't liked by the games already sold?

You shouldn't be to concernd about it. The more advanced technology becomes the more glitches you can expect. It happened to me on several occasions with other games aswell. Just hold the reset button on the console untill it beeps and restart it.

Mmm, Saints 2 for the 360 used to do this to me.
Actually I think that's a problem with Saints Row 2 itself since that happened to me a fair amount

Only Bethesda (oblivion and fallout) has caused mine to crash as far as I remember

Oh I did. I'm pretty good at restarting all my consoles, lol. None of the thing are totally reliable anyways. =P
I wasn't really freakin out like a n00b, but what pissed me off what that I was very far into a mission when the darn thing froze up on me.
Blasphemy SONY! Damn Yooouuu.

Something similar happend to me with Fallout 3.

I'd been roaming the wasteland, killin' and lootin' for about half an hour not realising that because I hadn't enterd any buildings the game didn't quick save. And then it froze up.

That's weird, I've had my ps3 for three years now. I have yet to have any problems with it except for the fact that when I patch the games, I have to put in an extra effort to find out what was patched/adjusted/etc.
