Some people might remember my topic about when will my xbox be back. This is along them lines and im only posting anew one cos my other topic is dead.

One thing I would like to know is when you got your xbox back was it working completley and if it was how long did it take to break again dats if it ever broke.

I got my first one back after about 10 or 11 days. It was fine except my DVD drive was louder and made a grinding noise from time to time (Discs were always fine. I made sure, since I like my discs mint.). That, however, led to 'disc read' errors. Eventually, that one started freezing up after 10 minutes or so, and since I was still in warranty, I sent it in. I got it back in about 12 days and it's been perfect since.

Ive had 6 xbox 360s, 4 rings of death and 2 disk tray problems. My current one broke two days ago. My Wii's been fine since getting it. Yet I'll be getting another 360 because I must play fable and gears!!!

I got the Halo 3 version and got RROD'd 2 days before my warranty expired. I sent it out, and after 1 day, it is currently on it's way back to me. Microsoft, being the "almighty" that they are, issued a 3 month temporary warranty, my bet (and as much as I don't want this to be true, I'm thinking it will happen) is that exactly one day after this temporary warranty expires, it will RROD on me again, causing me to pay Microsoft more.

Oh, and I am the owner of a PS3 and a Wii, I honestly haven't touched them at all since my XBox got sent away, except to watch Iron Man on Blu-ray. What can I say, I love my 360.

I need to call up Microsoft, but I have an irrational fear of call centres.
Seriously, I called them earlier and when the robot guy said I'll find someone who's available, I hung up.
Tomorrow, I face my fear head on. I need it back for SH:H.

I didnt bother with the call centres ( I share you're fear of them.
Just filled out the online form on their site and they emailed a UPS label that I printed off and
stuck onto a box and called for delivery.

The one I got back was quieter than my lunch model. Do notice a bit more pop-up so I assume it's quieter
because it's a slower drive.. Still hard drive installs will solve that problem I hope.

Gamestop employees have been reporting a high failrate on the PS3 too.

Perhaps nothing like the 360 RRoD deal, but they're not immune.

I mean, the first run of PS2s (which I was lucky/unlucky enough to own) catastrophically failed if you played them on their side (as advertised on the box) for any extended period of time, and Sony's customer support wasn't nearly as good as Microsoft's is (bizarre HDDs and NHL08s arriving in the mail admitted)

It's all good though

PS3 has a fail rate of roughly 7.3% I read in a magazine. Xbox's as of last year was still 40%. and since I'm on my 7th 360 since a year and a half ago, I'm afraid I can't defend or try to argue that. I've had my PS3 since launch, gets roughly a little more use, and no problems.

Wheres that article about Finnish kids playing a PS3 in a sauna for almost 108 hrs and nothing went wrong? Somebody find that, I wanna read it again. I'm sure i got the link off one of the threads here.

360 #2. First one died due to bad storage. I got it repaired for free however, got a plug and charge kit and my new 360 has yet to break due to them sending me a guide on how to look after it better.

EDIT: the magics words are 'three red lights'.

First of all, let's see ANY proof you have of a "high" failure rates for PS3's. Any at all because I am waiting. And Gamestop does not count. Because there is none, because PS3's have an extremely low failure rate. I am not saying none, because like any consumer electronic goods they all have some level of failure rates.

Second of all, we all know about the PS2 DRE error's. But nobody, I repeat nobody went through 11 or more PS2's in recorded history. If you have proof of that please give a link. Anecdotal evidence does not count.

Thirdly, I said I was on the side of the 360 owners. I have nothing against the 360. I want to get one. I just will not due to the very high failure rates. Which are still happening even with the new chips. I just think that Microsoft screwed you, free repairs or not. This 360 RRoD fiasco should have NEVER happened.

My 360 RROD'd about 8 months later, however knowing of the BS that was possible, I purchased the exteneded replacement warrenty from Best Buy, got credit, and used it to buy an Elite, which has worked perfect since. That would be my advice to anyone buying expensive equipment like a 360, PS3, HDTV, ect... get the extended plan, that way you can have the matter fixed in hours instead of day.

To answer your question, my friend who sent his off got it back in about 2 to 3 weeks in good shape.

Good luck and hope you get it back soon.

I've always found it odd that people have so many problems with their 360's. People who've owned six of them and such is quite shocking.

I personally have a launch console. Got it a few weeks after the 360 was released. Launch consoles were supposed to be the buggiest ones so I was told, but for damn near three years I never had a problem with it. Until this summer when for some reason it would no longer read any discs. So I sent it in to Microsoft, they repaired it and sent it back for $99 including shipping and now it's working find again.

A hell of a lot less expensive than buying a new one.

I'm on 360 number 8, and the only brand new one that I ever had was the one that I bought back in 2006. I just recently bought a 360 arcade, so now I have 2 360's...that way, I wont have to wait to get one back.
