Do they still count if the same game is released on PC? I hear Gears being used as an exclusive, but it's also a PC game.
Maybe we should call them Microsoft exclusives. Unless it's also released on mac or linux... ugh...

I don't think 'exclusive' actually means anything anymore. The definition seems to be much more similar to "It's going to be only on this console... for about 3 months, then we'll release it on another" now.

That's pretty much Bamco's strategy.

They shouldn't exist. Fuck I'm sick of Microsoft buying out everything I want. Everything should be universal.
Rather, multiple consoles shouldn't exist. Everything should be exclusive to one, universal console.

Naw they don't really count as exclusives since i don't own an xbox but i have a good few "xbox exclusives" and yeah i think microsoft exclusives could work but it doesnt really sound cool enough for them to go with it.

Since Microsoft essentially controls the PC market with their operating system, Microsoft doesn't really need to advertise 'exclusives' for their OS. It's a marketing ploy, methinks. It helps to sell Xboxes. I don't think Microsoft is concerned about any competition in the PC market. They obviously are still working hard to win the console war. That's likely why they still use this language.

I haven't really kept up with this, but can you even get a Mac version of these titles?

That is a terrible idea.
Why? I mean, I don't really see any negatives.
There's this thing called competition, keeps prices low.

If there was a gaming monopoly, they could charge whatever they want.

Generally speaking, the PC is ignored when talking console exclusivity.

Whether you agree with that is up to you, but generally that still is accepted as a 360 exclusive, even with a PC release.

I hate exclusives.

This is mainly due to God of War 3 and Last Guardan coming out this year and me not having a PS3.

Also, games would be even worse than they are now. Competition is what makes developers try.

To the OP: I've become more and more disenfranchised lately with my 360. With the ps3 really coming into it's own it's hard to find time for it in my schedule. I'll keep it around on the off chance that something badass comes out for it that I can't get on my ps3, but I could honestly probably do without it.

While i can see this from a competition standpoint the sense that it makes. however it's still silly that one console should have it own particular title all to themselves...pretty soon one of them will try to monopolize the gaming market. Oh wait microsoft already tried that once
