Can someone go threw all of the Xbox One articles and count how many times they say "It's part of the experience?" It has got to be up there in the triple digits.
My guess would be some very NSFW ads.Draconalis said:So what happens if I just keep screaming "Fuck Ads" at my hypothetical Xbox periodically.
THIS, ALL OF IT. Is anyone really surprised about them having advertisements as a base design for their dashboard? It is a really smart move thou, since they will make a huge profit out of it.Phrozenflame500 said:So the xBox One was specifically designed with corporate interests in mind?

I also love how even the ad team is having none of the smartglass and tablet bullshit.
I agree, I really do think that most people would prefer to learn this stuff on launch day, because at least it would show that someone in Microsoft has some semblance of intelligence, instead of this weird inability to stop talking about every single negative feature of their console.Rariow said:I just don't get these men. Stuff like this you're supposed to hide away in the fine print to be an unpleasant surprise for your customers, not parade as one of your main selling points. I'd frankly be less annoyed if the advertising was a sudden reveal a day before the thing came out, I just can't understand how the biggest electronics corporation we have can be so damn stupid.
Ah... Great. So much like the publishers were originally given the freedom to use or not use the switch that would prevent users from playing used copies of their games, if the publishers decide to put their own advertising into their games, they can target it to a more specific set of biometric data than is available to Microsoft's advertisers? That's not reassuring..."This sort of works at two levels. There's the game producers who have a different API, so a different set of code and system that they use, and they've got a lot more control of the whole thing," he stated, "whereas from the advertising point of view we have a slightly more limited set, which is designed to protect the user. The company is very keen on protecting the user from any sort of abuse so we can't do certain things."
Don't worry PC users I'm sure this will all be included in the next version of Windows.Mr.K. said:I'm really starting to wonder what parallel universe Xbox designers came from where all that looked like a really great idea, before it was scary now it's turning into hilarious.
how do you do this?Mumorpuger said:I've used my router to block ads.... it's really handy. My Xbox 360 is unable to display ads, but as a side effect I can't watch Hulu. They detect the ad wasn't played and refuse to play.
I am just curious since abusive advertising, forceful advertising is illegal in some European countries. Specially advertising targeted towards minors (And there will be minors playing the console): I think it is completely illegal in Sweden, partially in Finland. Dunno about other areas.Nazulu said:Can we say abusive advertising? Being forced to buy the Kinect, keep it always active with the console.
There was a story about how you could do this awhile back. I can't recall the details but it's probably still around.Evil Smurf said:how do you do this?Mumorpuger said:I've used my router to block ads.... it's really handy.
