I think they believe targeted ads are a good thing for both parties... Kinda sad to watch.
I'd prefer targeted ads to untargeted ads, personally. I'd much prefer an ad for....whatever the fuck can possibly be targeted to me other than games, than tampons. Regardless charging me more than the competition and then throwing ads on top of it is a shitty practice no matter how well targeted the ads are.

Fair enough, but it just always seems creepy that they've been watching me. Also, with targeted ads, you might actually find something you didn't know you'd be interested in.

Though, that's all moot considering I'd prefer there not to be adds on a console.

Exactly why I'd prefer targeted ads. At least there's a decent chance I'll be interested.

Oh certainly I agree with you, I don't want any ads. Like, if Xbone had the free online or at least cheaper than Sony was providing this generation I'd be fine, since service cost money, but...Xbox live costs $10 a year more than PS+ and is largely considered the inferior service since PS+ flat out gives you free shit.

So I have never used an xbox before. But I hear it has advertisements on it already right?

Still this statement is very much another shot in their foot.

Seriously. Does anyone look over or screen their official statements?
I'm no PR person, but this reeks of "we don't like having customers"

W-Www-Ww-Wa-was this a non-corporate public announcement?

WHAT KIND OF COMPANY PUBLICLY ANNOUNCES -

...

I don't understand anything anymore.
I was thinking the same exact thing. This is like McDonalds doing a public announcement about all the different steroids and artificial stuff the animals that are harvested with their meat are injected with. It might be something they do to make their product, but that doesn't mean it's something they should just openly announce as press or PR.

This is why my Xbox 360 is 100% offline and hasn't been updated for years. Adverts. We paid £200-£300 for the actual console, £40 a year every year Microsoft tax, £40-£50 each for games (which Microsoft takes a cut of) and they STILL see fit to clog our experience with continuous adverts upon adverts. When i turn on MY Xbox for MY dashboard screen a don't want to be greeted by a giant advert for fucking iron bru. It's like invading my PC desktop. It's icky.
They have Irn Bru ads? I've only ever seen pepsi, the bru would be slightly less painful to be slapped in the chops with

Not only will they have more ads they will make them hard to tell apart ..they are making a minesweeper ad minigame huh. Why someone on the top have not put out a memo telling everyone to shut the ¤&&%#"% up is blowing my brain.
