I don't intend to offend with this
Don't worry, I'm more curious about the weird corporate propaganda you're going to send my way...

Seriously, if you get hit in a Hurricane (I grew up in Hawaii, have family in Florida, Have lived in Nebraska, and currently live in Texas, so devastating weather events are something I've quite a BIT of experience in.. trust me, hurricanes are like farts compared to a twister..) is PLAYING your XBOX going to be your CHIEF concern?!?
I probably should clarify, I live in Midwestern America. A hurricane means a lot of wind, potential power outages, messed up telecommunications lines (interwebz), and I have to pick up a bunch of sticks :/

Even if it wasn't, yeah, I'd still want to be able to play my games. My roof caved in and life sucks and I can't even play fucking video games because a natural disaster isn't a good enough excuse for Microsoft to let me use my freaking property? Yeah of course. Seems totally fair. What about soldiers who want to play video games on a military base? Because they could be attacked or something, they're shouldn't be allowed to spend their free time playing video games? And you're calling me an entitled 14 year old when you're ready to jump YOU DON'T DESERVE VIDEO GAMES CUZ YOU'RE POOR

Your stuff about developer's rights
Here's the kicker for you: I hate Game Stop. I don't shop there. I don't buy used games. Under the xbox's new system, my reward for spending $60 and buying a new game to support a developer would be to get a product with more limitations than a pirated copy that someone stole. Fuck. That. And yeah. They can price games however they want, spend however much they want, and all that crap. But they shouldn't expect people buy their stuff.

I invent a really cool new type of gum. I sell it at $10. Should I be surprised when I see people stealing my gum and paying for cheaper gum? No because its not worth that much. You see 5 million people buy a game used and you think that equals 5 million units that people would have paid full price for? I'm sorry but that is false. Developers and publishers have an audience they could be selling lower priced games to and earn money off of but they refuse to acknowledge that audience exists so instead, they have to punish me, the person buying their game at full price.

Your "plan" is to basically limit the customer base for video games to only wealthy people. Sounds like that'll solve everything

stuff about Sony
So your logic is that I should just assume the opposite of what companies tell me? Microsoft says they'll fuck me over and Sony says they won't and should believe otherwise because ROOT KITS in all caps? Microsoft is a shitty company and they don't deserve your loyalty. Its like my grandma always said, you can wish in one hand and shit in other and which hand will fill up first? Keep wishing. I not a gambling man so you won't exactly see me pre-ordering a ps4 until it launches shit-free. If they do pull that shit then I'll go with Steam because I enough sense to care about what I spend my money on

I don't need any such validation, I'm a grown man. In fact, I'm going to own BOTH systems ANYWAY
Things I learned about grown men today:
1) "I'm buying BOTH toys" eliminates any augments about bias
2) They argue about computer based toys on website about such, then claim to be adults because accept bullshit rather than figh it
3) They use a Rainbow Dash avatar
4) They don't give a shit about poor people because that's only for altruistic kids/everyone must be faking their concern because adults
5) CAPS LOCK MOTHA FUCKA!
6) They don't need validation, but understand that everyone else apparently does and its the driving motive for everything

I'm 20 years old for the record -_-

OT: Always been a fan of those guys. Someone who understands the industry is refreshing to say the least.

Because in most cases those companies ARE compensated in some form or fashion in ways you don't readily see. Used car dealerships still are in many cases owned or subsidized by the initial car makers. Transferring of titles and licenses, fees, etc, also have a cost, and some of that money is kicked back to the auto manufacturer.
I guess America is different to Australia, over here there are plenty of used car dealers that are independent, transferring of titles and licences doesn't go to the car manufacturer, it goes to the government which is to cover road costs a different matter entirely. You obviously don't understand how it all works, atleast not outside the USA (not everywhere has a monopoly). Parts are also available for 3rd parties, so their not guaranteed income to manufacturers, so the car makes the sale and thats it. Capitalism and our economies don't work around "I built it so I deserve something from every resale it makes" no, it follows the "I made it and can sell it then they own the item/licence which they can resell (called resell value)". Now maybe in America that has changed, but in most of the world (EU, AUS etc) we still follow the rule that the customer has a thing called rights and ownership.

I will repeat, it's the publishers responsibility to budget accordingly, not ours to pay them over and over again for the same licence. If they cannot do that then they deserve to go under for companies that do understand how economics work.
