Wow. I don't think they really realized that people were carefully watching them to see if they failed. And sure enough, they fucked this one up big time.

I don't see many people giving a shit about any of these apps. Half of them don't work outside the US anyways. They're still charging for Xbox Live, even though their competitor is offering the same service for free. That right there was where I already decided there's no chance in hell I'm buying it. Paying to play games online was a scam, and now the general populace is more informed about it. So far you've pretty much lost the support of people who actually pay attention.

So your friends can see what you're doing or watching? What if I don't want my friends to see what I'm doing?

Not backwards compatible? This one I'm actually thankful for. Now I won't feel so bad about all the Xbox 360 games I've bought over the years that I won't be able to play anyways when I never buy this console.

So far the rumors about used game is that you're going to have to pay a fee so it downloads onto your console. Fuck that.

Now we wait and see who actually goes out and buys this.

They revealed 7 games, only 2 of which are exclusive, and only one was a new IP. Also, 4 were EA sports titles. At least the PS4 conference had some games that could turn out to be something interesting.

Which one of them was a new IP, I saw no new IPs. Quantum Break seems to be a sequel to Quantum Leap.

Apparently you have to install games to a single account to play them. If another account wants to play the game, they have to pay a fee.

Ahem... apparently not. If Wired's hands-on is anything to go by, they're actually going to charge other accounts to play the same game.

Did you misread something, or did you link the wrong article. It does not say anything of the sort, only that it has a one time install. That likely means it will be console linked, not account linked. At no point do they say account, they say owner, those are two completely separate words.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not with this practice at all, and I see it as a deal breaker, but I don't need to make stuff up to make it sound worse than it already makes itself look.

The Impression I get is that The fee only applies if you want to play the game without the disc in the tray, If that's the case they really have to charge.

The reason it's still a problem is that there is no guarantee that games will always be playable from the disc. There are already ways that they could have handled the used games on the console without having to charge money for installs, namely they could have the games run off old fashion key codes and only allow the latest install of the game to function. The entire theme of this console is prepping up the electric chair and letting the developers do the prodding and pushing of the victim towards it in an attempt to divert bad press from themselves.

I liked how Quantum Break showed one screen shot of in-game footage. Other than that I agree with Maximum Bert:

I don't use a console to watch TV (turn on your TV to turn on your Xbone to turn on your TV?! FUCKING SOLD!)

I don't care about EA Sports though I take partial credit for predicting some level of an exclusivity deal (even if it's just for some feature or other)

I don't care about Forza 5 or realistic racing games in general. The pre-rendered cinematic looked nice but it's job IS to look nice. What would have grabbed my interest would have been car-wreck porn but that's just me. Show me exactly how messed up the car COULD be with one carefully timed and, placed wreck.

ESPN + Xbone = the coolest Fantasy Football app I've seen but I don't give two farts about Fantasy Football.

A Halo TV series could be promising but my brother (who didn't watch the release) asked me 3 questions I couldn't answer: What channel is it on, What's the full title of the show and, is it going to be animated.

Controlling the Xbox menu with your voice is neat so I assume they didn't use the controller at all because it was implied that of course you can navigate with the controller. I'm convinced this event wasn't scripted and presented before a pre-recorded video.

The design of the Xbone is simple like a VCR but it's going to be covered in finger prints before the week is out once you get it. The Kinect 2.0 looks dumb (opinion) and the controller...it looks like they wanted to combine the Xbox and 360 controllers. Also, the home button is no longer a button, the sticks are ribbed (for her pleasure) and they start & back buttons were changed to 3-horizontal-lines in place of Back and...I don't know WHAT start was but it wasn't addressed.

Of the games presented...

Call of Duty Ghosts looks pretty good. I don't care for the series though and Killzone looked miles better back at the PS4 event

Quantum Break only showed one screenshot of in-game footage, a bit of pre-rendered cinematics and what looked like a filmed segment that reminded me of the kind of thing you would have seen on the Sega CD (ie: actors instead of rendered characters).

Forza 5 looked pretty but like I said: pre-rendered cinematics don't really show you how the actual game is going to look or feel or even play

The other 4 games were by EA Sports...anybody could have predicted Madden, Fifa, NBA Live and, UFC. It sounded like the XBone is getting some exclusive features or other for those games but it's not going to make me pick the console up.

Too long? Here's the gist of my ranting; My expectations where on the ground when I went into this thing. It would have taken some really, REALLY good news to get me invested in this thing. I'm talking nothing short of a full on revival of Mech Assault and news of a new Steel Battalion with a new controller featuring a million more buttons and dials etc. By the end of the press conference though my opinion has probably gone a lower. Nobody is forcing me to buy the thing and nobody is going to convince me to buy it in future. This hasn't soured me on collection Xbox games but I'm thinking twice about multiplatform games from this gen at this point. I grabbed my Wii U on day one and based on what I saw today, I made the right choice.

Like I said on Facebook; I never thought I'd watch Seppuku happen live and in person. That was a bit much and this likely won't kill Microsoft outright but I don't see this ending well for them.

At some point during the conference they mentioned DLC. I don't remember what game it was for specifically but to mention DLC for a game that is still development, for a game that doesn't yet have actual game-play footage, for a console that doesn't even have a release date yet is just arrogant.

Also CoD, stop trying to be emotional. From the trailer it looked like it was trying to pull all of the "DEM FEELS" cliches there possible could; a dog, a close band of fighters and a bleak storyline. CoD shouldn't try to be emotional, it should try to be fucking awesome instead.

If that dog is still alive by the end I will eat my controller, animal companions are always used for cheap feels.

OT: I'm really disappointed in the new Xbox, nothing jumped out to me. I'll be honest I wasn't planning on getting it anyway but I was at least expecting something more, especially games wise, but maybe E3 will fix that. Also the used game thing is stupid and a massive turn off.

My girlfriend watched this thing with me and when they were talking about that at the beginning that's when she said "no" repeatedly. Then I told her about how Just Dance(...was it Just Dance?) took and kept pictures of people playing on Kinect and that really didn't help. I agree though; I don't want the Kinect to be always on, always watching. That's one of the two main reasons I don't own a Kinect now (the other being that I live in a moderately sized room instead of a large open one).

It's astonishing what a role reversal this is from the reveals of the 360 and PS3.

I mean, the PS4 reveals wasn't exactly strong, but this is fucking ridiculous.

None of the features they showed mean fucking ANYTHING to gamers and most of them are already part of the 360.

The backwards compatibility thing is stupid, but not a dealbreaker for me.

What COULD be a dealbreaker is if these cunts honestly expect me to give them money to play used games I already payed for. They really haven't clarified this yet, but if it's as bad as it seems, I probably wont even bother with this POS.

So far it has been confirmed that:

-There is no rumored always-online requirement, but you have to log in every 24 hours like a criminal on probation or the console will not let you play games
-Fee for used games, games are tied to individual accounts, you have to pay to activate a used game and you can't lend games to friends
-Mandatory Kinect, the Xbox One will not function if the Kinect unit is disconnected
-3.5Gb of the 8Gb RAM advertised will be used by the operating systems, so in reality it only has 4.5Gb of available system memory
-Mandatory game installs, considering the games come on BluRays which average about 50Gb, get ready to pay to upgrade the hard drive!
-Windows 8 is one of the three operating systems
-No backwards compatibility, so now you need to use two consoles or abandon all your 360 games
-Focus on multimedia, web browsing and TV rather than gaming
-Graphics shown appear to be the equivalent of a medium tier PC in 2013
-The interactive TV they advertised will require you to purchase a separate device as well as the Xbox itself, and your TV license

I've never seen a more anti-consumer product, everything about this system works against the consumer and treats them as a potential criminal rather than a valued customer. Every aspect of it is designed to nickel and dime consumers. I'm so disappointed in Microsoft.

In terms of stuff I actually care about, the only thing they said was confirming 8 gigs of RAM, and that that stupid fucking Kinect will come with the system, instead of being discontinued.

But yeah, up until this new console generation, I remember being impressed and excited for the new stuff. Now it's just kinda meh. It COULD be cool, though I feel like I'm paying for a lot of features I won't really use since I just want an xbox for video games. The 360 did that very well, even if it was prone to finickiness every now and again (i need to punch it a couple times to keep the disk tray from opening itself when i try to put in a new game, and half the time it cant read dark souls or fallout 3. Though to be fair dark souls was used, and I've played the fuck out of both of those games).

This new generation doesn't really impress me, though I will hold any true judgement until I see what kinda stuff the devs will do going forward. Not keen on the kinect coming with the xbox, as i'm sure that'll drive the price up, though I might get SOME use out of it if it's there I guess. Not happy with no backwards compatibility as this means I'll probably wind up with a pirated copy of all of the xbox games I love emulated on my PC for lack of availability, just because the hard copies will be useless when my system eventually breaks. Which is too bad because I enjoy having hard copies. If things going digital makes prices go down though, I'd be all for it. Charging the same though despite not having the costs of physical packaging and distribution (and wasn't there a tax on hard copies which is why new ones were $60 but pc versions were $50?). Charging the same for a digital copy though, despite the reduced cost of not having to actually print out a copy to give to me, is not cool. Looking at you Games Workshop.
(for those too lazy to look, Games Workshop sells the digital copies of the rulebooks for the game and the individual armies for the same cost as a hard book. There's really no excuse considering even paper back copies of older books of similar quality and length books are still 20 dollars cheaper, and thus they must be making some profit off of them, ergo this is price gouging for the sake of gouging)

OK, I'm not going to lie, it started off really well. People ***** and moan about consoles being able to do all sorts of shit like TV and web browsing... that's pretty stupid. Last I checked added convenience that is completely optional that doesn't even hurt anyone is pretty much a good thing 100% of the time, so why ***** and moan (well because its the internet, duh).

So yes, the revealed a lot of cool features it can do and I was really getting into it and was excited for what they where going to be showing with the games and wow... total letdown. There was one new game showed and it was the stupidest fucking trailer I think I have ever seen in my entire life. Not to say the game will be bad, it just has a fucking stupid trailer. And then a few sports games and CoD, like I can even pretend to give an essence of a fuck.

All in all, pretty bad presentation, and conventional wisdom tells me that the only thing I'm going to miss when I don't buy the new Xbox is Halo.

Oh, and by the way, not trying to sound like an elitist but this is looking like this is going to be the generation where it is literally an impossible task to try to say that console gaming is superior to PC.

In all seriousness, I think I can definitely say that I will be going PS4 and eventually maybe the Wii U (in addition to my generally capable PC) this coming generation. Sony and Nintendo seem to be more interested in offering actual games to entertain me, and the 3DS and Vita have been impressing me quite a bit.

Considering that both the Xbox One and PS4 will be using x86 architecture and AMD hardware, not only is PC better, but both consoles are watered down computers with underclocked and undervolted hardware sold at a loss. Having x86 architecture means that multiplatform games will be easier to port to PC and work better on PC than the current (PS3/360) generation's ports. The only game changer could be the PS4's puzzling 8Gb of GDDR5, usually reserved for graphics card memory, we'll have to wait and see how they put that to use, could be interesting. Having seen what the PS4 and XBO can do graphically, I can safely say I won't need to upgrade my PC for this entire generation, looks like another 8 years of my 5850 from 2009 embarrassing consoles, it's pitiful.

I don't recall ever seeing a cable box that looks like a big ugly brick. If I did it sure as hell wasn't out where I could see it. Not like I can put this thing in the cabinet and play it, I'm sure this'll have just as much of an overheating issue as the 360. I doubt Microsoft actually took the time to fix their shit, rather I'm sure they were working on it, saw the PS4 announcement, and then rushed to show off their new Monolith from 2001, leaving a host of hardware issues that I'm sure will come to the fore in the first few weeks or months of its release.

Edit: Never mind. I found out it isn't compatible with not only 360 games, but arcade games and other downloads from the 360. It's honestly extremely sad to see it happen like that.
