I can understand his frustration with the fanboys though, Microsoft do deserve the condemnation they earned themselves but the fanboys try to poo poo anything positive they do, refuse to acknowledge the things that are going right and gleefully caper from forum to forum to proclaim that the Xbone is doomed forever.
They ignore that the Xbox brand is doing incredibly well on software terms for example, the Xbone is selling more games per console than the PS4 and Xbox as a whole is selling more games on both the 360 and the Xbone than Sony are with the PS3, PS4 and the PS Vita with Microsoft claiming 48% of all software sales which is pretty impressive in a market with six other competing devices from two other companies (Sony = PSV, PS3, PS4. Nintendo = 3DS, Wii, Wii U). They ignore that the XBone is selling well in its own right as well, they claim the Xbone is failing when its selling faster than the 360 did. Its not selling as well as the PS4 but its still selling incredibly well, if you set aside the PS4 the Xbone is a major success both in software and hardware sales.
The arguments about it being doomed forever ring hollow too, its not fairing as badly as the PS3 early on in its lifespan. It took Sony a while to sort themselves out but they did and made sure it got good games and a competitive price and by the end of the generation the PS3, in its own right was a success. Microsoft are in the same position but with the announcement of the Kinect free version and the efforts they are making to secure games they have plenty of opportunity to turn it around. The performance issues are trickier to deal with but they might be able to solve that with the roll out and continued development of DirectX 12, DX12 might allow the XBone to catch up in terms of performance as it streamlines software access to resources and will undoubtedly lead to an increase in performance. Whether it will allow it to catch up to the PS4 completely remains to be seen but there will be a performance increase of some degree, the claims of it giving "double" the performance are beyond optimistic though.
Now don't get me wrong the Microsoft fanboys are as annoying as the Sony Ponies and you can often see all kinds of unfounded bitterness aimed at the PS4 from them, like with the way loads of Xbox fanboys have a "I didnt want that game anyway" attitude when the PS4 version of multiplat is confirmed to be running at higher frame rate and and resolution. At the same time you can come across foolishness like a Sony super fan posting "I don't play pixels I play games, I dont care if the PC version plays 1440p @ 60FPS" and then a week or so later you see the same poster "hahaha lololol XBox sucks can't do 1080p like the PS4".
Its just frustrating and sad to see how adults are acting like we did as kids arguing over Sega and Nintendo in the school playground, so I can understand where people are coming from when they perceive it as being "cool" to hate Microsoft when they are making efforts to make the Xbone more appealing. They,
-reversed the DRM
-dropped the price
-are trying to sort out the performance
-might be removing some of the restrictions regarding streaming services
-will be offering a Kinect free version
-making efforts to secure games for the console
Yet all those positives are painted as bad things and back peddling, no Microsoft are not doing it because they are really nice guys and want to help people and they are only doing it to shift more product but at the end of the day the consumer is still benefiting from it.
