I recently dug up my old GameCube in a previously undiscovered corner of my loft. I've also been saving up to get a 360. Question is, should I spend £250 on a new console and a few new games, or should I get one of those 40 game bundles of GameCube games from ebay for substantially less?

What would you do? Also, are there any games on GameCube that are absolute must-plays?

Cube games are AMAZING. But, there are quite a few crap ones. 360 should only be considered if their are games you feel you need to play. Their are a few this gen, but that's overall your call.

I'd stick with the Gamecube, but then I'm completely biased. Some must play GC games are;

Super Smash Bros. Melee
Eternal Darkness
Metroid Prime*
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker
F Zero GX
Resident Evil 4*
Pikmin 2*
Super Monkey Ball

* Also available on current gen consoles.

This is an okay start. Psyhonauts, Chibi-Robo, Prince of Persia Sands of Time Trilogy, Beyond Good and Evil*, Viewtiful Joe, Metroid Prime 2*, Pikmin 1*, Animal Crossing, Soul Caliber 2, Skies of Arcadia: Legends, Sonic Adventure 2, Super Mario Sunshine, The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Master Quest, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess*, Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes, Mega Man X Collection, Mega Man Anniversary Collection, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and just so much more.

Not: All of these are playable on Wii. If you want a next-gen console still and decided you wanted to stick with Nintendo, you'd have all of these games as playable, plus the Wii exclusives. And I mean the good ones, like The Last Story (fingers crossed...), not Wii Sports.

I guess the question being quality or quantity.

Just to note, quality MAINLY refers to high-level graphics here. There are definitely some good ones on Gamecube. Still, I must admit I wish I got a PS2.

I say go for the 360. I never really played my Gamecube, but when I did, it didn't really wow me. Go for the current gen.

It very much depends on what this bundle of games contains. If they are all golden gems then go for it otherwise get the new console.

Go for Amiga.

If you favour online play then obviously a 360 wins out. Single player stuff, Cube!

The two Metroid Prime games are more than worth hunting down, as FPS games go they're completely unique and utterly brilliant.

Also hunt down the two Zelda games (Winwaker, special edition if you can and Twilight Princess), although you'll not get those two without spending more than £40.

Just buy the specific gamecube games that you want. Don't buy a bundle full of shit just because it's a good price.

I use my Wii mainly for playing Gamecube games.

I'm re-playing Wind Waker now.

I tend to play Eternal Darkness every now and then too. Must have finished it well over a dozen times.

GameCube. I'm gonna add Custom Robo to the list of must plays, it's still a fun game to play with friends even now years after it was released! It's really cheap and although not easy to find, check your local Gamestop or similar store and you can usually find it for like 5-10$. Worth playing through despite the annoying sounds people make when talking.
