So, because they decided to keep possible other new enemies a surprise and hence don't mention them by name and only say "new enemies", you instantly turn the plural into a singular and declare that they add only one new enemy...
Alright mate, I missed the one word they used to refer to multiple enemies in the entire article, sorry.

Regardless I'm skeptical as to whether that is more than one wholly new enemy, or if they're taking liberty since there seems to be multiple variants on the suited one in the screenshots. The new languages for soldiers is great, but I'm hoping they've put more work into it than just combining assets from other versions of the game, which is what it sounds like; I want a Scottish accent with my Saltire! because I was quite surprised they had more than just the Union Jack in the base game. I wouldn't normally be this skeptical, but their last take on paid DLC was extraordinarily disappointing.

No new missions? no new storyline?

Sorry, but i finished this game already, why would i want to pay $30 for some new bells and whistles?
Well, because it adds about 50% new content? So that's a bit more than just "bells and whistles", it's the entire chorus you're getting. Not a whole church, then again, this is an EXPANSION PACK.

An expansion pack priced the same as what i bought the game for in the first place...so No.
So then you waited? Does that entitle you to a lower price for the Expansion Pack on release? No. So stop acting like you are.

Then do what you did for the base game and wait for a sale...

...

Is it just the "Petty As Hell Olympics" here on the Escapist this week?

Yes. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.826008-Sony-Unveils-PS3-to-PS4-Software-Discounts]

OT: Sounds pretty neat. I doubt I'll get it anywhere near its release since my budget is running thin and there are other games I'd rather check out first than go back to this, but I'll probably get it somewhere down the line.

EDIT: Also, having an auto-playing video in an article thread is annoying. Just pointing that out, I dunno if anyone in a position to do anything about that will read this.

There is an interview on youtube about the new features.

Two new tech trees, new maps and second wave options as well as a new campaign.

Not too shabby.

Clearly, gaming is in a better place than it's ever been before if this is what people are reduced to complaining about.

Sounds more like a DLC....great deal for people who missed EU, but I dont feel like pay 30$ just for some new upgrades and maps (assuming they actually will be new and not just some remixes)
Also this scavenger hunt idea sounds kinda dumb in an turn based game...I dont feel like sending my squad over the whole map, turn by turn, just to gather some resources.
I love 2k, but that doesnt sound like much...
Then here is an idea: Read the WHOLE article. Then you might notice that there is more than "just a few upgrades and maps", starting with A NEW SOLDIER CLASS AND NEW ENEMIES. Also at least 40 new maps are coming. NEW maps. Not REMIXED maps.

I was kind of hoping for a 'Terror from the Deep' kind of thing, but this'll do.
The council guy in the announcement trailer actually says theres a "second force" working against the XCOM project, also at the interview, the devs gave the information we all know, and then ended with saying there was more that theyre not allowed to talk about right now.

And of course, the title is probably the biggest spoiler.

Are you all actually serious in that you believe that $30 is ok for content that doesnt involve any new missions or story at all? well fine, perhaps it is for you. Generally i play a game through once and once only unless its truely standout.

Sorry but i dont want this patch even if its $5. Ive played the game beginning to end so the only thing that would more intrest me is a new scenario. You dont agree with me? fine because i'm not asking you to boycott the game, just commenting that i wont be buying it.

In fact i didnt wait, that was just roughly the price i paid on release date and dont get me wrong i loved the game but i dont think $30 is justifiable for content that doesnt include a new scenario or new missions.

truth be told, if i hadnt bought the game already i would snap both up and thoroughly enjoy them, price be buggered! but having played through once i simply see no point in throwing $30 away to play the same missions again with extra stuff in them

Well, maybe you want to stop being an a-hat then and READ. You DO get new maps. You DO get new enemies. YOU DO GET A NEW CAMPAIGN!
Saying "30? is too much for an expansion pack, that roughly adds 50% new content" is just you being a dick.

Would you kindly stop insulting me and direct me to where its explicitly stated that new missions will be available? New maps yes, but as far as i can see thats just to add variety to the same missions as before. In fact i can lift a quote directly from the Escapist article

"Enemy Within doesn't advance the storyline in any way, but it adds new features and mechanics to the same alien invasion of the 2012 surprise hit."

Also ive read both articles and no new missions are mentioned at any point. So moderate your tone and respect my right to have an opinion

Please point out where I state that I think $30 is a fine price-point?

In fact, I stated that I would likely wait (until it gets cheaper) because I don't have the funds to comfortably spend that kind of money on this; Also there are rumors that it does include new missions.

Completely disregarding that, this would be fantastic value for people who don't already own the base game. The changes and additions sound fun and interesting and more maps are a great idea. So you won't be buying it. Fine. But then ridiculing the developer because you've "already beaten the game" and it's "priced the same as what [you] bought the game for in the first place" isn't fine. You could simply state that, because you've beaten the game already, these changes aren't all that interesting to you. Or you could wait for more concrete information. Or you could acknowledge that other people might be interested in it, and for that price because it (I assume, at least) includes the content from the base game it'd be a great value for new people interested in the title.

Instead you go on about how it's not even worth $5 to you because they might not be adding more storylines. Is it really so hard to attempt being positive?

Um sorry man, i quoted you by mistake, my bad.

I totally agree that for a new player its worth a lot, i think $30 is a little high for pretty much any DLC but if i didnt have the game already i would totally say 'screw it' and buy them both. As it is i am a Story fiend, i'll play crap games if the story appeals to me, but DLC that adds no new story at all to me isnt really worth getting, thats just a personal opinion.

You realise that this is a "standalone". In other words, you don't need the main game to play it and you'll be pretty much buying the same game twice.

I wondered about that 'Standalone Expansion' sorta seems like a contradiction in terms. I assumed it meant you didnt need any other DLC to play it...
