House of the Dead Overkill is funny and indeed fun, but Darkside Chronicles is better in EEEEEVVVERY way. It's longer, has more unlockables, the best graphics on the Wii, a better story, music that's almost as good (they need to release the Overkill soundtrack), and it provides an extra story to the Resident Evil Mythos (unlike Overkill having nothing to do with the other HOTD games).

Ah opinions they're great aren't they.As I said each to their own.Personally I enjoyed Overkill a hell of a lot more than either of the Chronicles games but then I never was a big Resi fan.If you honestly think it's the best game on the system then more power to you sir

So we're talking about facts now rather than opinions.Ok let's examine those "facts" you mentioned

Longer game length - Longer does not equal better.You only have to look at something like Portal which is very short and yet is regarded as one of the best games ever.I would say that Overkill is the perfect length as games of that genre tend to be pretty repetitive.What matters most for games of that kind is re-playability and Overkill definitely has that.

More consistent framerate - What exactly is your evidence for this?I've beaten Overkill about a half dozen times at least and can't recall a single moment in the game where there were framerate issues

More extras - I'll admit I've never counted the number of extras in both games but Overkill is hardly a slouch in the extras and unlockables department.Anyway more does not mean better.If you have 2 buckets of shit and I've got 1 does that mean your shit is better than mine because there's more of it?

And to touch on your earlier points

Best graphics on Wii - Opinion not fact.I would contend that Nintendo's first party games have the best graphics on Wii.And again better graphics does not mean better game.For example the Bit.Trip games have simplistic 8 bit graphics and yet are amongst the best games on Wii in my opinion

Better story - Again opinion not fact.I'll take Overkills cheesy OTT B-movie story over Darksides po-faced seriousness any day just like I would prefer to watch Sam Raimi's Evil Dead trilogy over George A.Romero's more serious Dead trilogy

Provides an extra story to the RE mythos - Only relevant if you're a Resi fan which I'm not

It's my "opinion" that Overkill is the better game and guess what.It has a higher Critic and User score on Metacritic(78 and 9.0 vs 75 and 8.1)so I guess I'm not the only one who thinks that

Being from the UK I've had it for a while. I will say this though: GET HYPED! If you've got any doubts, cast them aside. Americans, believe me when I say that it's the greatest game to ever grace the Wii. Of course that's just this one man's humble opinion, but there you have it.

Clearly you have never played Madworld. Or Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.

I have played both games you stated and I didn't like them (Madworld black and white screen was hard to navigate while Darside Chronicle was boring compared to HOTD: Overkill).

Darkside Chronicles has extended game time without any padding, framerate issues were quite frequent in Overkill, and Darkside Chronicles outnumbers Overkill in the extras. True, Overkill has a bunch of things Darkside Chronicles doesn't, like the posters, but Darkside Chronicles has detailed files, character models, a cutscene viewer, alternate costumes, and more weapons.

As I pointed out earlier longer length and more extras does not mean it's automatically a better game.Quality is subjective and my opinion is that Overkill is the better game.Seriously at this point you sound like you're trying to convince yourself that DC is the better game

Maybe framerate issue isn't the right word, but there IS a stutter. Don't you notice how the game seems to stop for a split second when you shoot a zombie point-blank with a shotgun? Or when you toss a grenade into a mob?

Thing is I actually enjoyed DC and it's predecessor Umbrella Chronicles.I just don't think that they're anywhere near being called the best games on the system and I believe that Overkill is better.

Got Xenoblade Chronicles quite a while ago (dusted the wii off for it) and all I can say is its a brilliant game. At first when I saw the first few characters I thought oh dear here we go again but they actually proved quite likeable and the story was great, the combat is nothing brilliant but its fast and fun the actual environments themselves are very well done probably my favourite in any RPG ever its very rare in a game I stop to look around at the surroundings but Xenoblade managed this in almost every new area even though the graphics arent top end.

Easily the best game on the Wii IMO followed by Mario Galaxy and The Last Story. I think I spent just under 130 hours on Xenoblade Chronicles and absolutely loved it. It has become my third favourite game of all time now and is the best RPG I have played in 15 years. Not everyone is going to like it of course (they never do) but If people go in with an open mind and play it they are likely to enjoy themselves.

My few annoyances with the game were sidequests most arent too bad but some are annoying as hell especially as the people dont stay still so you cant always find them if it dosent auto complete (thankfully most do), then there are the awesome environments the trouble is they are massive and it can take an age to walk to where you need to go even if you fast travel to the nearest landmark (this was rare though so only a minor annoyance).

The new game plus option is also a nice touch something The Last Story shares with it.

There is no excuse. And yes, this is exactly how I am. Nintendo built their system the way they wanted to with their own restrictions and strengths. Use what it has. If you have a problem with it, tough beans.

I'm not really sure it's tough beans, obviously he was able to hack it and get a better product then what Nintendo released. If you want to be the valiant ethical knight then don't mod your system, just don't feel the need to preach it to others since as you can plainly see no one cares.

Oh and the excuse would be "I can make my experience better", sure its not perfectly legal and may not be ethical to some, but its a pretty solid excuse.

Oh and Darkside Chronicles looks absolutely horrid, I don't own a Wii, but if I did I'd most certainly get Xenoblade (even if its not my favorite style of JRPGs, I'm more the NIS fan myself).

Ahem to that! Yeah I didn't like The Last Story game that much (way too linear and the story was dull).
Yeah the good thing about Xenoblade is that it got a wide variation of music so you will bound to find a music to your liking. That music you posted is one of my favourite too. (It's like an epic drama button you can press when you need it!)

I don't think you're required to prorder it, but I've heard it's only getting a limited print run in the US and since it's supposed to be really popular I've heard that might be really hard to get if you don't preorder it.

Settle down, Beavis. I modded mine too, which apparently makes me The Great Satan, but it was only so I could play the games I already owned. The DVD drive started dying so I was getting disc read errors in games, but it still works well enough that I can dump them to a USB stick (sometimes taking a couple tries at a lower speed than would work in-game).

You should have gotten the legitimate copy in the first place. There is NO excuse for hacking a game system!

I was actually pretty disappointed by it :/

The environments are amazing, probably some of the best I've seen in a JRPG. And the quests and NPCs feel almost limitless yet usually don't get tedious. There are TONS of sidequests and stuff to do outside the main story and the game does give a good sense of adventure.

But the story and characters were so boringgg. Only the brash lovable idiot best friend character had any sort of charisma, and the main character is just painful to experience. Like, the main character was actually a huge negative for me. Other characters were stereotypes (not even interesting stereotypes) with zero personality, which doesn't hurt it for me, but goddamn I hated the main character. And despite having such an interesting concept, everything always ended up being ridiculously predictable, even (especially) when the game thought it wasn't.

Oh GOD! Thank you. THANK YOU. At least I'm not the only one out there that's tired of the same cliches in every JRPG over the last decade.

I watched my sister play through this and I literally cheered when that annoying female love interest at the start was killed. And I prayed that the same would happen to all the other characters.

This is one game where the bad guys should've won.

If this really is one of the best games for the Wii, I hate to think of what an average Wii title is.

If you like JRPGS, do yourself a favour and just replay another one of your cliched JRPGs for another time over. You'd be saving yourself a bit of money.

People go on about how bad FF13 was, but at least that game had a shred off originality and risk to it.

Except he's wrong. A truly high quality Wii game requires just as much time, money, and effort as a game on an HD system. That's why Resident Evil 4 is considered one of the greatest games of all time.

But that's a re-release of a Gamecube game. Silent Hill 2 is one of the greatest games of all time, but I wouldn't use the re-release to highlight the quality of the PS3.

The game is very mediocre the characters are all stereotypes i.e Angsty main character, main characters bulky mate, standard anime love interest, old veteran etc. Also the jumping is over hyped because when you do jump the wii chugs like a hippo doing sit ups. And there are hardly any places where you can jump back up too only down, so it is a bit pointless. I suppose the combat system is good if u like trying to memorize strategies, and having to go through whole mini menu's to bring up one sodding attack. Also some enemies can only be seriously damaged by the Monado (red sword thing), and when these enemies are very frequent and only one character has the sword. This makes for an awkward combat system (in my opinion).
The story is long and has it's moments but in my opinion too long, it also became to boring to complete. but THE SETTING IS AMAZING two giant robots in the sea, I mean wow.
So yeah don't get too excited because you will end up disappointing yourselves. Sorry if you feel I was harsh I just thought you ought to know

You're giving a bad name to, well, whoever the hell else thinks fans of Mass Effect are ingrates because you don't enjoy the exact same game.
