I bou g htitas soon as it came out, the demo was so good. Unfortunately, I felt the game overall was a bit lacking, and suffered from a serious case of consolitis. It just didn't feel right on the PC. I should give it another go, though, once I've played through the holiday stuff from this year.

It was a great game especially playing it multiplayer with friends.

Any news on XIV or XIII 2?
There is no sequel planned I think.

I really enjoyed the game, the missions were diverse although the backgrounds were generic. The way your skills built up felt organic to the game and plot. Little details like click click click of the guards walking toward or away from you and the comic book transitions of the security camera.

Further more as plot driven games go it was pretty engaging and I would love to see sequel. Best in game moment for me was the bit when your hit whilst in a cable car, you have to take out the rocket launcher dude and his pals whilst grappling onto the cable and descending before the cart drops, awesome!

Some studio should do one of those "spiritual" sequels. You don't really see many games that are cell shaded or with that play style.

Brilliant game. Loved it to bits when I played it.

For those not in the know it was based on the first 5 volumes of the Belgian XIII comic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XIII_(comic)) from 1984.

Hell there was even a TV mini-series starring Val Kilmer! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XIII_(TV_Mini-series)

Great game. Friend had it for his Xbox and we played the multiplayer so many time.
It almost reminds me of TF2

I picked it up a few years ago, it was on discount.
I really liked it; the story wasn't bad for an fps,
the weapons were interesting and the stealth levels
were really nicely done.

The bosses were ridiculous thoug. I was stuck for a moment at a hard bossfight, always getting killed with only half of the bosses health down. When I tried again my thumb slipped over the b-button (I played the gamecube-version) and a grenade went flying and hit the boss in the face....insta-kill...you win...

No it didn't. The stealth was bullshit auto fail and reload bollocks. Thief is the only game to do first person stealth well. Ever.

How was the stealth "bullshit"?

I remember it. It played very well, drove the (already written) storyline very well, and the graphics never wore out on me (who needs realistic graphics?) My only nit-picks are that the aiming was a bit dodgy, and the difficulty takes a sudden jump once you're at the arctic base. It's a shame that they decided against a sequel just because of the sales (sequels get hyped quicker, anyway).

Essentially, there are two cardinal sins for stealth games. The first and most important is making discovery an instant mission failure, despite the fact that the player might well be the biggest, baddest, most heavily armed ************ on the entire planet.

XIII was very fond of this. Very fond indeed.

The second is having poor indication of player visibility. XIII was sometimes bad at this as well. There was no easy indicator of where you could and could not go to avoid discovery on some levels (the military base late on is a particular offender, lots of wide open areas with very little indication of where you might be visible), which makes mission success more about trial and error than actually learning and applying the stealth mechanic.

Also, the stealth takedown melee attack was unpredictable and rubbish.

as a comic reader i found the game funny and fun.. the poping up sound effects when you shot someone in the face was hilarious.

Interesting, apparently XIII is now a tv mini series as well:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1117667/

I enjoyed the game as well. In its own way, it was a polished, unique experience - sorta making me think of the No One Lives Forever games.
