Yahtzee offers a lot of flaws in all of the games he reviews in Zero Punctuation, but without a ratings system and constantly looking over the positive things, it's hard to feel like he's told me enough about the game for me to go by his word. I don't take Yahtzee seriously.
Do you?

Yes, his rating system is the best. Which he says "a complex opinion can't be summed up numerically"

he's entertaining, but you can't take him seriously as a game reviewer. Even he doesn't take himself seriously as a proper game reviewer.

Sometimes I agree with him, sometimes I don't. I agree on his view on motion controls though. And the whole "games are art" thing. And the importance of immersion. So yea, I guess I take him seriously.
Want to read Mogworld too btw :p

No. I find him amusing, and nothing more.

You shouldn't take his reviews seriously, since they aren't reviews. They're more critiques if anything. With humor mixed in.

I listen to his opinion of games and either laugh or be really really surprised by his views, but at the end of the day i see it as his opinion and nothing more.

I take his reviews into serious consideration when buying a game. I, as he does, think all a game's good can be looked over if it has a few major flaws. The only game I liked that he did not was Dragon Age and I still had major gripes with it. I think people are too lenient and accept a bunch of garbage in their games instead of setting a higher standard.

Of course not. He's more comedian than critic, as he purposely exaggerates the bad things in anything he reviews, even if it's not necessarily bad to everyone.

On a personal note, even if he was serious, I don't really agree with his whole "everything is crap until proven otherwise" philosophy, so I still wouldn't take his opinion into consideration.

His first job is as an entertainer, not as a reviewer. I suspect he likes a lot more about the games he reviews than he lets on, but he wouldn't get paid as well to say nice things.

He gets paid to trash on things. I don't think you are supposed to take him seriously.

Sometimes he does bring actual points in to his reviews, but for the most part, no. They are mostly just there for laughs.

No. I find him funny, but most games have strong points even if they are weak overall, and Yahtzee tends to overlook these in favour of over-bashing for comic effect.

I think there are better critics out there for a reasoned guide to the quality of a game, although my opinion isn't usually swayed by the pros.
