Yahtzee-Do you take him seriously?

He does bring some critique points and aspects of a game that some reviews wont touch on which is freshing, or elaborating on why the aforementioned bad camera is a world of frustration in itself.

But apart from that, he is just sheer entertainment, making a nice mix of hyperbole and nitpicking into a "review"
So nah, he's never to be taken seriously as I own quite a few of the titles he's brought to light and he is right on a few aspects such as there being a lot of naff user-made levels on Littlebigplanet and everyone and their sister barging in to arrest you in Red Faction 3 should you break a window

Yes, his rating system is the best. Which he says "a complex opinion can't be summed up numerically"
I feel the same way.

Zero Punctuation is good for a laugh, but Extra Puncuation is also a more serious take on gaming issues so I'd have to say "Yes", I take him seriously.

I guess I'm just more or less echoing the majority here.

He's a clown. a manly clown with a sweet hat and a chip on his shoulder, but I watch to watching him rip into games. While he does have good points sometimes (fairly frequently, in fact), it's amidst jokes about penises and prostitutes with extra openings.

I don't think he's ever swayed my opinion on a game to a point I would or wouldn't get it.

most of the time, no, but when i've played a game and witnessed what he said about it, I see what he means half the time.

I don't take him very seriously when it comes to choosing a game to buy. If i did that the amount of games i'd buy would be very few.

If he points out some genuine criticisms i take them into consideration. The "it gets better later" does not fly with me either.

i don't take any review seriously and i especially won't let it be the make or break decision about weather or not i buy it.

He's entertaining and makes strong observations, but I don't hinge purchases on his words. I usually rent a game or borrow it from a friend before I buy.

I see glimpses of truth in what he says, but I think he exaggerates a bit to often how bad a game really is.

He's an entertainer and a critic, not a reviewer. Hence why he doesn't ever offer a scaling of how "good" or "bad" something is.

His overlooking of the good seems to be for one reason: Everyone else has already harped on the good points until they're stuck in your head. You need the opposition of the standard viewpoint to be able to look at something objectively.

Video-wise, I only take him seriously around half the time. Mainly because my personal taste in videogames is different than his. The extra punctuation columns are something that I do take great interest in, though.

No, he's much too biter and bias towards his personal tastes and hatred of multi-player, but his videos are funny and entertaining and I enjoy them.

i take him seriously and one of the reasons i do is that he IS so hard on the games. So many reviews focus on glorifying the game, where as Yahtzee is sure to pick it apart and tell everything wrong with it, giving a different perspective than any other reviewer.

Yes and no. I do respect his opinion somewhat, although I take it with LOADS of salt. I mean, I have to sift through all the jokes and such to find the criticism and everything. Plus, I have found I have disagreed with him on numerous occasions, such as the fact that I did not like Half-Life and thought Bioshock 2 was a great game.

Also, while he is not the "make or break" opinion over whether I buy a game or not, he is part of a series of reviews I listen to/read in order whether to decide whether I buy a game or not. I consort to other sources, such as Wikipedia's table of reviews and Game Informer and such.

In other words, I treat his reviews and opinions as I would anybody else's, except maybe with more salt than other reviews. And while I do consider his opinion in the decision of buying a game, it's not the only one I listen to.

Do I take Zero Punctuation seriously as an objective criticism of a videogame? Hell no.

Do I take Yahtzee himself seriously as a games critic. Yes.

No, since he's said it himself countless times that no-one likes it when he's nice about a game meaning he definately likes half the games he reviews more than he lets on.

I definitely take him seriously. Yes, he's primarily a comedian, but his opinions are %100 percent honest. Another commenter compared him to Stephen Colbert. But you can get actual facts from the Colbert Report if you just sift through all the satire.
You just have to watch a fair bit of his work, then you'll be able to tell how your opinions stack up with his. I have only drastically disagreed with him about two games (Mirror's Edge and BioShock 2). All the same, you can use his reviews as a point of orientation to figure out if you will like the game.

Nah! My gaming standards are much lower than his seem to be. Indeed, I've played some games and witnessed the flaws he has mentioned, but I've still enjoyed them a lot. There is one thing that bothers me though. Does anyone else really find Nathan Drake to be the creep Yatzee says he is? I found his personality to be one of the crowning qualities of the Uncharted series.

For all of his dick jokes he does make some valid points...
But I take all of his reviews with a grain of salt and often look for a second opinion if its available.
