From the reviews, id say the game is worth the single player alone.
Having put some ridiculous number of hours into the original Crysis' single player campaign (I think at last count I was around 150 hours), and having played the first 2-3 hours of Crysis 2, I have to say that the original game is so much better in the single player. There's just so many more options in the original game that don't exist in Crysis 2.

The sequel is still quite good and I'm convinced I'll put a goodly amount of time into it, but it lacks the nigh-complete freedom of the first game, which is mildly disappointing.

Ive played a bit and so far, I like it. The controls have a little of that inexact console-y feel to it, but you get used to it. The graphics arn't as mind blowing as the first Crysis, but you would still be hard pressed to find a prettier game out there. Multiplayer seems kind of tacked on and CoD-style with some futuristic twists, but its fun, competent, and gives you a little more bang for your buck. It seems like we have the same sort of thing Crysis 1 gave us: A piece of eye candy with top notch gameplay, a fun, B action movie story that works, if perhaps in a rather sub par way, and plenty of polish. I'm not disappointed. Crysis was better for it's time, but Crytek obviously hasn't been sitting on there hands. Added bonus, there engine has some pretty incredible potential.

Facepalm. Again graphics do not make a great game. And no, not every game needs to look like crysis on max settings, but how about the sequel to said game? It would seem to be fair to expect the sequel of greatest graphics crunching game so far to provide more of the same graphics crunching. Is it not fair to expect a company who have made their name pushing graphic boundaries, to keep doing so and to make disappointing comment when they don't?

What has actually happened is that crytek have spend the 3 years since the original game, instead of pushing graphic boundaries, trying to shoehorn something a PC could do 3 years ago into console systems. So using this trajectory, I expect Crysis 3 won't add to much, but will play great on mobile platforms, what are you console gamers complaining about, we are getting the series to a wider audience....

I cannot believe that people are making so many excuses for what Crytek has done here. I have no problem with them moving to being console focused, it's where the money lies. But that was not what they and Nvidia have been putting out up until now. So lets call a spade a spade, in that Crytek and their Crysis series is now firmly consolidated and can legitimately be refereed to by PC owners as 'console port', with all the stigma that phrase engenders.

I am sure that console owners will not have much sympathy because they have received a game that looks amazing in comparison to other console FPS's up till now. No probs with that.

But PC owners making excuses for crytek are that same as people making excuses for someone who has abused them. But that must be PC gaming now, happy as long as any attention is paid to it, even if the attention involves stubbing out cigarettes on them.

I'm quite looking forward to it. Enjoyed the first one quite a bit despite it corrupting my save file while I was fighting the last boss.

Crysis 2 only looks like it's going to add stuff to the formula; New York offers a much more variated and especially vertical playground and stealth is finally becoming a properly viable option (yay stealth kills!). Looks like good fun.

Most FPSs are EXACTLY like Crysis. Also, are you being sarcastic?
So pretty much all shooters have you battling monstrous aliens and human soldiers alike, offering various ways of dealing with the situation and have some kind of system that lets you switch between different gameplay styles on the fly?

Really, you're looking at the wrong kind of shooter here. Modern warfare shooters are today's generic thing. Crysis ain't that.

I guess one of the problems with this is going to be that most people who play Crysis 2 will have never played either Crysis or Warhead, being console gamers. So they may well love C2 and think it's great, which is THEIR opinion and they are allowed to have it.

But conversely, some understanding towards us PC gamers who played the first would be nice. We got (mostly) sprawling levels of highly detailed jungle containing objectives which could be tackled from almost any angle and using a variety of different tactics. These tactics were aided by the suit, not entirely based around them as it appears in this sequel. After buying over 3 million copies of Crysis on PC we are now being given a linear, scripted, corridor shooter with reduced graphics & configuration options, and we are being told to like it. This is pretty galling.
So it should be understandable why we PC gamers are a bit pissed off again.

I've heard many a complaint about the sense of entitlement PC gamers appear to have. To that I'd reply that many of the biggest companies making games right now are doing it thanks to their PC roots and the fans who supported them in their early days. It's like what happens in films like Million Dollar Baby (or Rocky 5): the newcomer is made a champion through the hard work of some veteren/trainer (Clint Eastwood) and then they decide that they've taken all they can from that trainer and leave to find the money. It hurts to see it happen at the start of MDB, and that's how it often feels as a PC gamer when we see Epic or Rockstar or Crytek or Bioware just not give a shit anymore.

What about Crysis 1?
Crysis 2 looks pretty good, especially it's graphics, although I'm not completely sold on it because I like to play multiplayer and it's multiplayer demo didn't really grab my interest enough.
...yeah, you got me there. Also: Multiplayer is always a weird subject to judge since one person might like one thing more than another might.

How hard is it for you to accept that the game is on a console? The original Crysis is still PC exclusive, and so is Warhead. Go play those games and quit bitching about your precious exclusive being turned into a multi-platform game.

Thus far it's been a pretty enjoyable game. It's not perfect, but not much is. Worth my time at any rate.

Actually getting online is a bloody pain in the balls at the moment. It's a very buggy launch, but the core game is fun :)

Nah, it's still all about going fast, strong, bulletproof or invisible.

Crysis is really Predator: The Game, but no one seems to want to mention it, even though the very idea is brilliant.

That's how hard, or not, it is for me to 'accept that the game is on a console'. People need to read the things they quote. I did not see the word 'exclusive' in my post either, as that is not my problem with this game. There is a big difference between being a non-exclusive multi-format title (not a problem) and a console port.

PC's have NEVER had exclusives. Just titles that are not technically possible on consoles of the time. Crysis was not an exclusive, it just was not possible to make it work on consoles. It's not like Microsoft gave crytek a pile of money to only make the game for the PC. If Crysis could have been put on consoles I don;t think anyone would have had a problem, as crytek had already made it to get the best out of the PC it could. That's all anyone ever wants. Exclusives are a console only phenomenon. Maybe you should be quiet while the grown ups talk....

Meh, I had a choice between KZ3 and Crysis 2, and I went with KZ3.

Now I've played Crysis 1, and from what I've heard not only has Crytek water down the graphics but also the gameplay. Over simplifying the powers, taking away the semi sandbox feel of the game by narrowing the levels down into more of a corridor shooter, and taking out the destructible buildings.

Basically, taking out everything that made the first game fun and unique....-_-

Rent it. Single player is really good but the multi player is trash, so unless you want to spend your free time wasting time on a boring game mode just rent it and beat the campaign.

thanks you just saved me a ton of money!

Bigger issue still remains though... whats the plural for the word Broccoli? Is it Broccolees? or brocs? Jeez....
