Congrats and well done! If someone has taken the time out to abuse you after a game then you know you're doing something right :)

I think my first 'hate' message was from that well known hotbed of griefers; Virtua Tennis 3.

Long story short, I'm good at the game and the poor guy kept getting put against me through the matchmaking system. Each time I spanked him 3-0. After about 5 matches like this (To give him his due, he stuck them all out) we finally got separated and within about 5 minutes I had a message pop into the inbox accusing me of cheating, lagging, more cheating and doing things with farmyard animals.

Some Halo ones as well but that's just the way it goes.

I got my first Xbox Live hate message last night on Halo: Reach! It was a voice message so it sounded like a cat in a blender like always, but what I made out was "next time you play SWAT make sure you get more than six kills...blah blah fuck off."

Oddly it hurt me because despite being a Captain rank, he was on my own team, and because I was the only person with sense who voted for good old slayer instead of SWAT, and seeing as whenever its chosen on Halo Reach (and in all fairness, when ISN'T it) everyone grows magical head-targeting bullets that seem to forget to be equipped to my gun.

Anyway 'Reach Rant' over, still remember your first hate message on Xbox Live, PSN or Wii for that matter?
Finally, someone else who understands the stupidity of SWAT!

I don't remember my first hate message, but it was probably from chainsawing in Gears of War.
Dear god. SWAT is the antichrist. I hate it sooooo much. Completely boring, removes every interesting thing from Halo. I don't have a clue why so many people vote for it, but it's thankfully getting its own playlist sometime soon.
SWAT is the only game mode I like because it actually relies on some skill, rather than getting killed with power weapons, melee kills and grenade spamming.

The only hate message I've received via PSN to date was from some guy that I played against on MW2.

He apparently found a problem with the fact that I threw a flashbang into a room of him and 2 other enemies during a TDM and went in to kill them after.
Upon asking him why this was wrong, I just got a torrent of gibberish which I can only assume was meant to be the worst abuse he could muster.
So I asked him what was wrong with doing the smart thing in that situation, and I got the reply: "shows hus brave enuf"

So I just told him to grow up and come back when he had a decent argument.

Never did hear back from him either...

My first hate message was from L4D2 (on 360)

It was Versus on Dark Carnival: Coaster.

They were just activated the coaster when I spawned as Charger. I went ahead to where the area with no rail and waited atop a ramp they had to climb. As soon as they were in range, I charged, knocking all of them off and killing the entire team.

Middle of the next round I get a message saying "Godamn Chrger. Spwn as sumthin else you FUCKING NOOB PISE OF SHIT."

I Replied "I don't control who I spawn as Dumbass. GO fuck yourself and learn to spell."

He quit next round.

Halo 3.

One of my team mates was in a Ghost, i was walking a long and he turned around to face me, he could clearly see me and ran me over, little message came up saying "boot, or forgive" i clicked boot.

I then got a message saying he didn't see me, and that I'm a dick, it was on Sand Trap, on the path where all the vehicles usually are, he could clearly see me.

This is a common argument I hear in favour of SWAT. I disagree entirely. Regular Halo does take "some skill" - if anything it takes more skill than Team SWAT, since in SWAT you only ever have to know how to use one weapon and no armour abilities. You don't have to learn the different properties of the weapons, their placement on the map, how to guess what angle to throw a grenade at to hit somebody, how to perfectly time an Armour Lock to deflect a rocket, or any number of additional things. It does not take more skill than the other halo gametypes, that's bullshit. /rant

I do believe Gears of War gave me my first, something along the lines of:

"Next time try to win with a weapon that takes talent."

He appeared to take offense to my use of the Boomshot.

Well fuck him. I'm never going to be the best at these games and am not trying to be, what I am trying to do is have a good time, and I like using the Boomshot. I know other people don't like it, but it isn't like I'm playing Ranked matches, and I switch up when I get bored, not when others tell me they don't like it.

I honestly never got one, I stopped playing online after Borderlands because I'm tired of every match of any game being filled with people who just keep talking shit.

Have any of you ever played War Rock?

It's been years since I left but you couldn't get a single kill without the other person cussing you out.

Never had any on XBL, but on PC I get loads of in-game comments about how I apparently hack MW2.

Nope, no Haet Mali here.
I did get told "stupid n*ggah **** - funny that I censor the racist slur but not the swear word" a few times by a pair of (they were apparently working together, the shits) big gangstaz. But it was worth it, they were hilariously cliché stupid.

I was called a hacker by a sever admin in bf2 for going 32-1 in the first 5 mins. in the match. He later apologized when he realized his team was crap. this was about 3 years ago now.

My first Xbox Live hate message. That was back on Lord of the Rings Battle For Middle-Earth 2 on the 360. I actually used "strategy" instead massing 1 kind of unit and rushing headfirst. I planted explosives as Isengard to protect my base, and when his entire army died to 1 mine, I opened my gates and charged his base and wiped him out in no time. I believe it was along these lines...
"U fag shit whore slut n00b! Mines are only used in Helm's Deep u hacker shit! Go die while I skullfuck your mom."
Good times. Good times.

I see your point but for me the regular gunplay is just not good enough. If they removed shields in the other game modes I'd be happy.

I got quite a few hate messages on Guild Wars not long ago when I managed to defeat a Dervish using 'Avatar of Balthazar' by myself whilst playing as an Elementalist. I don't claim to be a fantastic player or have an excellent build for Alliance Battles by any means. It's just that this guy could not play the avatar skill set at all. He spent so much time trying to buff himself up he didn't actually take a swing at me, and because I had interruptions spells and energy drains from being a second class Mesmer it wasn't too hard to take him down. But I got called a cheater, a bot, and was threatened with being reported. On my own Alliance side it got me a bit of fame for a while as 'The Elementalist who beat an Avatar'. Didn't matter to them that he sucked. I also get a lot of one on one challenges with other Elementalists who think I'm a bot or a cheat. It must be a vibe I put out there.

And of course I get the typical "hurr durr get ur hot ele 2 give my char teh sex nao" messages. And when I say no, THEY threaten to report me as well! I really don't get it.

Hmm. First one was definitely a voice message because of Halo 3 (no surprises there). I completely forgot its contents because the kid was screaming and had the worst mic ever so I just laughed it off and kept playing.

Now I do remember the most wonderful text message someone sent me over XBL (Also Halo 3 related).
I just finished playing one of the best games I had ever played. I annihilated my opponents in a team slayer match on Snowbound, got over half of the kills on my team. Gotta love the Battle Rifle and it's headshot sweetness. Anyway when it was over and the post-game lobby popped up everyone on the opposing team started shouting "Cheater, hacker, you fucking noob you were cheating there's no way you beat all of us.." and so on. I was already amused, but the fun didn't stop there. One of the guys sent me a message a couple minutes later saying I was a cheating fag and he reported me.

It's sad but I don't think I ever felt more proud of my skills in Halo than at that particular moment.

Getting hate mail is so funny, because then it gives you an excuse to send them a witty comment back at them, thus, making them even more angry :)

I was playing Team Doubles (I think it was that) online, and it was me and this stranger versus two others. He was getting all the kills and I was happy to just follow him around and help where I could, cause it was 6 AM and anything like hard work was beyond me at that point.

He then proceeded to de-rep me and loudly proclaim my absolute shittiness as a human being (which I can only assume he perceived with his magical powers, cause all I'd have been able to tell was that I'm not very good at Halo 3).

Anyway, he's a douche and I got over it. What a fun story =)
