I don't "flame", but I will disagree intelligently. I'm not afraid to tell someone why they are wrong, but I won't call them an idiot or post a fail picture or something lame like that.

I post just as I talk in real life, and since I'm an emotional guy, my posts sometimes show it. One day my posts might be all mannery and polite, the next all hidden insults and subliminal maliciousness. Angel to asshole.

I try not to flame. I normally only post to give advice, or answer a question, or when a post just hits my interest. The closest I come to flaming is when I express my opinion and it disagrees with someone else's, but I really try hard to not insult them because I feel that weakens my argument and is just childish.

Just wanted to get your thoughts on it really, do you flame, and if so do you know you're doing it because you won't get a smack in the face or do angry comments just come naturally to you?
I flame only those that deserve to be flamed. Otherwise, most of the time I'm *nicer* on forums than in real life because sarcasm rarely gets across in text communication.

I like the Internet, cause you can say stuff you wouldn't say in real life. With that said, no, I don't flame. But the advantage of people not knowing what I look life is an appealing thing, one that should not be abused. I'm constantly aware of my exterior, which lowers my self-esteem in real life. On the Internet, I can talk more.

I try to be as polite as possible, if I'm gonna tell someone they're wrong, I'll kindly explain it. And if someone flames me, I'll use my shield of proper grammar and explain how they're wrong until their rage of not succeeding in breaking my self-esteem overwhelms their bodies.

I don't flame because I am a normal member of online society.
I think this is a great point.
Mostly because it reminds me of what my Mom would always tell me if I was acting crazy, or like an annoying teen. She'd look at me with this 'what are you doing?' look and say: "Hey. Be normal." And I'd stop for a second, realize I was over-reacting or what-have you, and just...be normal.

So that's what I do here.
"Just be normal."

When I write on forums, I write my real opinions, but I try to sound more intelligent with them. That is manly because when I talk I sound like I "got a mouth full of shit"-George Carlin, dew to my young age.

I just post my opinions on matters, I don't change them just to insult people.

No, it's lemon shaped.

OT:Nope, I don't flame. I usually ignore someone if they quote me harshly.
More of an oval really.

I never 'troll' to my knowledge because it is just sad.

I try my best not to flame, even when someone says something infuriating, but sometimes can border on it.

That said I can be quite a blunt/brutally honest person in real life so it's nothing to do with anonymity.

I have been in some debates on forums but I do my best to stay out of flame wars. They have a tendancy to be extrodinarily frustrating and pointless.

The only difference between me in real life and on the internet is my posts tend to be worded a bit better than if I was just talking to someone as I have time to think about what I'm typing and how I want to say it.

2012 is also doomsday.
And unicorns are real.

I try not to flame, but I'd never swear as much as I do in public.

I try my best to treat people like I would in real life. That said, sometimes I do fly off the handle, in both Real Life and on the Forums, however sometimes the barrier of type helps me control my statements on the forums.

I don't intentionally flame. I point out something that I question, but I don't take genuine offense to anything, I'm not sure why I should, it's not like someone saying something stupid or wrong affects me, unless I try to help them. I get frustrated with some less intelligent people online sometimes, but not to the point of flaming. I define flaming as a complete criticism of a person's intelligence or character, in an insulting fashion. I don't see where it gets you, the problem isn't the person, it's the topic. Unless it's how stupid the person is. Then I don't get involved.

My surroundings are what changes my personality. I'm neutral on the internet, because I don't feel weary or threatened, but out in this town, i don't know who's an asshole or not, so I act more... hm, dominant, I guess. I try to keep people in line, and I'm a little bit paranoid. I don't fear anyone, but I don't like conflict, because if I get in a fight, it's not a fight, it's a deathmatch.

I will kill anyone who provokes me, and I will serve prison time for it. I guess I'm just a little off that way, but my town has the assholes to back me up on it.

I try not to be threatening online.

I just treat people as I would in real life. Not quite civilly, but with a degree of empathy and a sense of perspective to facilitate discussion and prevent misunderstandings (and to stop me embarrassing myself). My posts use a more expansive vocabulary that that which I would employ in everyday speech, but apart from that I don't think my personality changes much.

I don't flame. In fact, I do my very best to meet unreasonable hostility with extreme kindness and understanding. (That REALLY pisses some people off! hehe)

But, in general, I see no reason to conduct myself any differently online than I would in person...
