Break into all government buildings i find and discover the locations of every important building in the country, then head to the most advanced cloning lab available. Then I would start learning how to eventually make an army of my own clones which I would rule over as it seizes control of the world.

Hmm, this is interesting. You could potentially store enough genetic material to restart the human race successfully. Cloning just yourself wouldn't work as you could never have multiple generations. But if you could clone enough humans with enough diversity then we'd have another go at it.

If I went that route, I'd have to find out exactly what conditions would be necessary. For example, can a cloned fetus grow in a non-human body? Like another primate. As I am not female we could already run into an issue. Additionally, what are the minimum requirements for cloning and are any of these things proceedures/things that I cannot replicate/harvest/manufacture?

Crap, you may have just drastically changed my mindset/goal in such an event. I guess it's time to learn about bioengineering now since I've already devoted free time to learning about power generation from steam, solar power generation, and how to manufacture all kinds of other things. It's fascinating to think about such events that will never happen.

Of course this is all operating on the hypothetical notion that there would still be electricity and all the food I would ever need, which would probably mean canned goods for the rest of my life...

Make sure to gather up solar panels and solar battery storage. That's your electricity solution unless you feel up to learning how to run a local power plants.

I think I would take all the non perishables from the two local grocery stores nearby and haul everything up to the closest Costco so I could just live there because there's a gas station right on the property which would be perfect for PHASE 2.

Phase 2 is stockpiling all of the gasoline I can in several safe areas, so that if something happens to one location, my entire supply for Phase 3 isn't lost forever.

Here's where things get sad, gas isn't a stable chemical. There are chemical stablizers that can be added to gas that extend the shelf life of it but we still wouldn't be looking at having technically "fresh" gas for more than two years (bad gas turns dark and smells sour, just fyi). You may want to spend the time you have with gas methodically looking for solar and electric replacements. More importantly, you should find yourself a prime spot to live the rest of your days in without having to travel very far. Safe from as many natural disasters as possible and such. Remember, without people around to work in nuclear power plants there will be a lot of huge chernobyl's, so just finding a nice mansion could be detrimental to your longevity if there's a power plant next door.

Hehe, I sometimes wonder how bad the nuclear fallout would be after such an event once all the water cooling the spent rods of all the Nuclear plants finally evaporated. Would it cause a fallout?

Phase 3 is for when I eventually run out of food and will only happen if there is no internet to teach me how to farm, but again since this is hypothetical I would like to think it would live on.

I am very glad I don't live in a city like New york because the rats would be a serious problem to deal with. After a decade or so I'd be fighting those little monsters for food. FORGET THAT.

Here's a secret, on the back of every packet of seeds are the planting directions. There's even pictures. You should go ahead and start planting as soon as possible because those things have a shelf life too and grow more easily the sooner they're planted. You'll also want to plant the widest variety of plants you can and scatter the rest into open fields to encourage wild growth.

You guys hit on one of my very favorite things to think about. I absolutely don't believe that anything like this could ever happen or that I'd be the one or one of the ones to survive if it did, but it's sure fun to think of myself in a scenario like this.

To address the original topic, I would more thank likely spend a lot of time walking, singing, and exploring the ruins of places I was never allowed to go to before. I guess this would also give me the opportunity to write and read a lot more, but I suppose that would depend on exactly how the world ended (can't remember if that was specified in the OP).

After getting bored with all of that, I would begin to toy around with fire, and start to develop crude tools. I would learn to chase the deer in the area off of the suddenly prosperous number of cliffs around my home. Slowly, my comprehension of the world would develop, and I would begin to look to the stars with wonder, developing the first religion. I would teach my children my ways, who would then go on to take my teachings and advance them into farming. This would raise up an organized society unlike any ever seen before.

...I think my freak-out period would involve checking every strip club, apartment complex, "lingerie shop" and porn shop in Portland and Seattle for my favorite kind of other human being. The sad realization of "never again" would settle on me like a lead weight, I think.

Then I'd... loot. Lots of electronics, solar panels, a gasoline tanker truck, a military diesel tanker, a 5-ton cargo truck, a 6K forklift and a trailer to haul it around on... I'd clear out every local sporting goods and military surplus store of ammo, guns, crossbows, bolts, nutritional supplements, MREs, et cetera... loot all of the canned food from every local grocery store... visit my local hydroelectric dam and see if I can keep it supplying me with electricity while I set up solar panels (damn thing produces 46MW, not sure if I could keep it going). Maybe go a little further out and visit my local wind farm to do the same. This is one of the good things about living 30 miles out from civilization on a riverbank (well, more like 50' straight up a cliff from a riverbank) in the Pacific Northwest. I'd have no reason to move.

I'd take over some the farmland that's adjacent to my property (and diversify their crops... probably start growing hemp and look into figuring out how to make biodiesel, since I might actually run the area out of petroleum products in a decade or so), let out the horses and cattle to roam free once I've got a good sized fence set up on the ten acres around my house, then start building it into a junk fortress-type wall. Set up a greenhouse of sufficient size to keep me eating fruit and veggies through the winter... and I'd do mostly what I do now.

Well, I'd be looting and building instead of working security, hunting, fishing and farming more instead of buying supplemental groceries, and I'd spend my socializing time... doing more hunting, fishing, looting, building and farming. Eventually I'd set up a powerful radio tower and a really sensitive receiver just to check if anyone was out there.

Aside from that, I've got a bunch of video games and books to catch up on. Also, I might drive up to Redmond to piss on Microsoft's grave. Too bad the wikimedia servers are so far away, I'd like to have access to them. I wonder what's in Valve's headquarters... I'd check that out too.

...MammothBlade's fertility clinic idea is a good one, too... too bad I have no interest in medical science beyond how to keep myself running. The species would die with me.

I'm not sure if the human race deserves to continue living on this earth, but while I consider that, I would quickly near by fertility clinics with frozen sperm/eggs, and get generators going to make sure they keep power. Once that step was done, I'd have to make a decision if I wanted to bring back humanity. I probably would, since without the power sources we currently have, and the ability to mine deep for coal etc, or get oil out of the ground easily, it would be unlikely that humanity would so over-populate the earth again in the near future.

Then the hard work begins. Not only would I need to read up and learn how to combine the egg/sperm and grow literal test tube babies, but I would need to travel extensively while doing so to stockpile tons of gas to power the generators for many years, all while also gathering enough water/food/medical supplies etc. Once the babies are born/old enough I will have to be constantly monitoring them as well, at least for the first bunch of years until they are old enough to start doing so themselves.

I would probably start with only 20 or so children, for the first 4 years...allowing me to stockpile supplies and get things set up until they are old enough to start monitoring things and helping out. Once I had a few children that were old enough to be a help I would start another batch (probably 40 children this time), and again wait till they are about 4 years old. By the time 8 years had gone by I would have 20 8 year olds....and 40 4 year olds, and I would start training the 8 year olds to be able to monitor and run the other fertility clinics that are not too far away (I would just travel between them and make sure everything was going well). I'd probably go with 4 fertility clinics initially, with 5 8 year olds at each (and 10 4 year olds). Each clinic would start with 20 babies initially, but instead of every 4 years they would go with 20 more every 2 years (since the first 2 years would need the most monitoring of the children.

Food would start to be a problem as well, so each clinic would need to have a small farm as well by around this time that was monitored by the kids as well.

By the time 20 years had gone by, using a method like this I could easily have over 1000 humans all with different genetic backgrounds, so even if the gas started to run out, or machines broke down etc, the human race should have enough genetic diversity to survive. Gas probably would not rune out though as we could travel farther away to collect it once there were enough kids that were old enough to monitor everything back home. Food would be easy to deal with (especially since you could also collect huge quantities of canned goods etc while collecting gas...more then likely using trucks to transport both long term)

Education could be interesting to maintain...but the computers even shut down would still have huge amounts of information, and libraries would still be around as well. The main question then would be what kind of society would we want to make long term. All this would keep me very busy though...and of course many things could go wrong along the way.

If I didn't kill myself, I guess I can just extrapolate how I acted when I had no human contact for 3 days. Only instead of dig a small hole and smash rocks into powder, I guess I'd dig a BIG hole. Lots more time on my hand and nobody who's going to ask me to fill it back in afterwards.

With little else to do, i'd write down a brief record of events as to just what i did with my life (However brief) and explain what humans were, some of the achievements. Why? Well, if an alien race comes along i think they'd wanna know what the hell happened and hey...written record that we, y'know, Existed (Internet won't last due to lack of sustainable power so..yeah, besides it won't hurt to give a brief chronicle of myself as well as some of humanities greatest achievements and explain how Humanity just suddenly completely disappeared but myself, possibly ask them to look into it.

After that? Just wait for my time.

I'd hike up into the mountains. I'd have family photo albums, my music, and a lot of alcohol with me. I'd climb the mountain that I climbed with my Dad when I was 10. Once I was at the top, I'd listen to my music while drinking a lot and looking over family pictures. Eventually, when I am suitably drunk, I would jump of the sheer cliff. The mountain has a small rock shelter with a journal you sign when you reach the top. I would have left the photo album in there with it and also signed my name in the journal.

Sorry for the depressing post guys but IMO, life isn't worth living if there isn't anyone else around to enjoy it with.

At any rate, if I could make it through the initial shock without losing my mind, I suppose I would have a great time exploring all the places that I wasn't supposed to go when other people existed, like houses and such. Peeking into people's private lives would be really interesting.
