I still use hotmail. I can check my hotmail instantly and it updates all the time thanks to the email app of windows 8.

Hopefully google will come up with something similar and then i will switch
They have. It is called android phones. They come with a gmail app.
I don't have a smartphone. My phone is a phone and like makes calls, but not much else. It can text, but that is it. No fancy things.

I just hope they decide to port that app into Windows 8.

Some of us can't afford smartphones

Outlook is terrible...Thunderbird man.

I still use my hotmail account as my main email simply because I got lucky when they started allowing Canadian addresses (hotmail.ca) and managed to get my full name without using characters or numbers. I'm starting to think about switching to Gmail simply because it looks and feels cleaner.

I do have Gmail. But it's only one out of four email addresses. I have one with each main email service. Yahoo, Aol, Msn and Gmail.

Needed a job one as advice said I should have one more professional. As opposed to stuff such as mangagirl and the like.

I use Gmail exclusively when I'm signing up for something that requires an email, and I'm almost certain it will end up sending me spam.

.. So yeah. I guess Gmail is my spam email bucket.

I do in fact have 3 email accounts.

I have a Yahoo account which I use for when I register to online forums or internet stores. Most of my email there is advertisement that recommends products I may be interested in and for the most part I am interested in those products and I do read those emails so I love that account. It helps me buy presents and it helps me determine what I want when someone's buying me something (I can never decide).

I have my hotmail account which is just random spam and sites that I registered to without knowing if I trusted them or not, or in some cases when my yahoo address didn't work.

My Gmail account is limited to personal email, bills, stuff from the university (I linked my university account to my Gmail so I get it both places) and bank stuff.

Now I prefer Gmail for its looks and I like the new layout they have come up with, so it's all up to taste.

Still on hotmail, as I use a program to check all three of my email addresses.

This happens the same time as I start finally using Gmail instead of Hotmail?

Coincidence? I hope not...

Not surprising considering they force people to sign up for one when using unrelated products like Android or YouTube.
I made one a while ago just to sign up for shit like that but I never check it.

I was one of those people who got into Gmail back in 2004. Because someone walked into the IT department in Job Corps with an account and invites. That means Gmail because the unofficial official email for us Cisco kids.

And we all loved it because it was bigger and better than anyone else. I remember an often repeated question being: "You mean we EACH get a gigabyte?".

I swear i have 3 google accounts, of which none i actually use. they all get sent to my hotmail account.
I have never made one, i have just been given them, my uni and my school have gave me an email, that has been google.
Seeing how that is thousands per year, assuming it is accross the UK, then no wonder they have gained so many users.

Also i have only ever had 2 spam emails in 8/9 years, and that was my own fault, of signing in when i had a virus on my pc, other than that i never had a single one.
I'm even an IE user.

Wait people use Outlook?

Since when? I always thought that was this weird useless app that never worked and asked you every time you started it to "configure it" for some reason even if you indulged it and actually did configure it once.

I've been using Gmail for a few years now, and it's solid. I don't get much spam, it's a clean look and I don't have many issues with it. I even switched my mom to Gmail a few months ago since our email provided from the cable company sucks so hardcore.

I've got several accounts on Hotmail I never use. One on GMail I never use (except recently). A few more here and there....

And forty on a server I pay for, about a quarter of which see daily use. Because being able to generate addresses on a whim is handy as hell.

Though recently gmail came in handy when some idiot at Earthlink started keyword* blocking my stuff to people using Earthlink addresses and I had to send everything through gmail's SMTP server to get around it. Which I ended ASAP because Google knows enough about me already.

(* After much experimentation I found anything relating to piracy and porn was censored. Including "wares" and "box". Seriously. Box. Because that word HAS NO USE IN NORMAL CONTEXT.)
