There was a time, an ignorant period of my life, when I didn't believe that The Scorpion King 3 was the best movie ever. Shameful, I know, but it happened (and, coincidentally, was prior to its released).

Now you know. I'm sorry, #SK3!
I once believed that there was no such thing as a third Scorpion King movie.

I can now admit that I was wrong.

Then you were unaware of the greatest cinematic experience available to mankind. And now that you know if its existence, the only right thing to do is go watch it. Like, right now. I'll wait.

I won't wait. I'll be long gone by the time you awaken from the transcendental experience that is Scorpion King 3, spreading its awesomeness to the next person.

My Little Pony.

Thought it was a ridiculous 4chan fad and wrote it off. Saw someone on a forum go into detail about why it was good. Bit the bullet and watched an episode.

Now I'm a Brony.
I watched the pilot, really enjoyed. I went on 4chan. The brony community pissed me off to such a great degree I never watched it again. I actually love the whole love and tolerance idea, but not the way bronies behave or just the general actions of the vocal fandom.
If you like the show, watch it. You don't need to participate in the 'community'. The most I do is read EqD from time to time and I'm subbed to the MLP reddit, which is mostly just art and being gossiping about the show.

Give it another shot. If everyone gave up on things they liked because 4chan ruined it, nobody would like anything; 4chan ruins everything.
I might consider watching it again, however, it wasn't just 4chan. It's the fact that it exploded and was everywhere, if you've already got a bad opinion of something and it keeps getting thrown in your face you tend to find yourself hating it a lot more.

I rarely change my mind on the internet. Someone might raise an interesting point, or give an interesting argument, but rarely when I'm involved in the discussion.

I would not say that I was wrong, but rather that my views have changed over the years.
I have become less radical and I now see the near-fanatism with which I once argued on the internet as very immature.
Other than that I have always been, am and will always be AWESOME.

I don't recall any significant instances of changing my opinions because of a forum debate. This is probably because I don't start at extremist positions to begin with, and try a lot harder than most of the common chaff posters you'll find to establish a common ground to debate from.

What I have learned is that people know jack-shit about what constitutes a good source for information. I was taught all throughout college how to critically analyze a piece of writing and evaluate the viability of a source, but I'm consistently appalled at the claims I've seen thrown around because of some MSNBC article or CNN poll.

Maybe I've become more Moderate, but I think that occurs from simple exposure to a large number of others' opinions. I wasn't particularly Super-Liberal to begin with, though the current political climate's "Conservatives" would label me a Fascist-humping limp-wristed Neo-Liberal-Socialist.

College professors have done more to change my opinions than the internet ever has. Whether it's about religion, sexuality, art, science, history, or anything else I can think of. When I had to actually study the topics in-depth, my views changed. Now I try to do so whenever a debate on the forum comes up so I can educate myself against obviously false counter-arguments, and if evidence comes up that denies my argument validity - I accept it.

Being wrong is sometimes the best thing that can happen.

I was a pious little prick of a christian as a child.

Ooooh you are in for a wake up call past me. My heart was in the right place but I was a very ignorant see-the-world-through-rose-tinted-glasses kid.

Also I was a very arrogant teenager, too many opinions so little time. Also I had a very short very embarrassing weeaboo phase. I like to think I've tempered some of that by making my kid-me confront teen-me and together form ADULT-ISH-NOTQUITEYET-me 2.0.

I was wrong to defend Blizzard for Starcraft 2.
Turns out, they were being asshole control-freaks, and it was planned that way all along.

I used to be extremely conservative (racist jokes, Christianity-is-all-important, the whole shebang). I'm still a bit conservative socially, but I'm a lot more open minded.

Well okay, this is a deep shame of mine but, there was this time in my life that I...
...you have to understand me, it's all I was ever made privvy to, what with the radio always being on him and nothing else, I had no other exposure...
I used to believe that Rush Limbaugh was a clever and well thought out individual.
I used to feel like that about Glenn Beck. Don't worry, I know how it feels when you suddenly realize someone you believed for so long is an idiot.

-hugs-

You'll never get me to pay money to see Ron Perlman do...Ron Perlman type stuff.

At least not in that movie.

I used to be a communist. Twelve history books later, and after talking to people who actually lived in Communist Countries, I am no longer a communist.

I mention somewhere in this forum threads that I actually did liked Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword but that was the first few hours in the game in my defend.

Now that I had played and finish it all, I board on the hate train, agreeing with the other people hating it. (I did mention in another thread that I take back everything nice I had said to that game!)

At one point, I thought that Shadow the Hedgehog and other 'dark' characters were the coolest. I gotta tell ya, I'm glad that phase is over.

When I was a school, I was antagonistic to most people, mostly because I had been influenced by american teen dramas...Now I know that I was an absolute berk back then.

If I could , I would slap my younger self around the face and tell him what's what.

Oh, and I used to think that the Lord of the Rings was an awful series. As you may be able to tell from my avatar, my opinion has shifted slightly.

I used to hate Star Trek. On principle. Because back then that whole Star Wars vs Trek thing existed.
Then I hated Star Trek because it was stupid. But it was actually my friend who was stupid, who made me watch Voyager. Voyager sucks.

However, it wasn't the internet that made me like Star Trek, it was Patrick Stewart, single-handedly. I loved him in the X-Men movies, then in whatever else he was in, then I started watching TNG all the way through. TNG is awesome.

Never bothered with DS9 though or cought up with TOS or thought much of Enterprise - they don't have Patrick Stewart in them, what's the point! :D
You know, Patrick Stewart makes a guest appearance in the first episode of DS9. Just putting that out there.
