Looking back and seeing some of the changes people have listed Game of Thrones seems to be doing pretty well in terms of deviations unlike some other shows(Legend of the Seeker although the lack of rapes was nice). So yeah as far as adaptations go they are thus far doing pretty well but I still maintain books should be movies or mini series and not full blown TV series or you get shit like The Legend of the Seeker.
