Pokemon White was my only must buy from 2011. I'm interested to all ends in many other games, but when it comes down to budgeting the only thing I wanted to have Day 1 was Pokemon. I'm still very likely to pick up Skyrim opening week, as I'll have some extra cash that week, but it isn't set in stone yet.

Mine have to be the following games:
Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (big surprise there)
Batman: Arkham City
Sonic Generations
Gears of War 3
Although this year I've bought a total of 4 games, only two of them being released this year: Skyrim and Pokemon White.

Well, I would pick:

Dark Souls - Loved Demon's Souls, and this seems even better. NERDGASM!

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend - Loved Calamity Trigger and want to get back into the series.

Catherine - Was on the fence at first, but it seems really nice.

And, uh... I can only come up with three. Huh.

I've already gotten Portal 2, Pokemon Black/White and Deus Ex Human Revolution, and I intend to get Sonic Generations later. Assassin's Creed 4 seems pretty cool too, but I'm on the fence about that one because I haven't finished 2 or played 1 or Brotherhood.

I'll only list games that already have been released, if only because I'm sick of mentioning Uncharted 3 and Skyrim in every other post.

Oh wait.

Anyway, on to my choices, in no particular order:

Catherine, for the utter uniqueness of its concept.
L.A. Noire, pretty much for the same reason, albeit to a lesser extent.
Portal 2, because it's the funniest game ever made in the whole history of the universe.
Deux Ex 3, because it's fucking awesome.
Dragon Age 2, to spite the haters.

And Dead Island.

Persona 2 Innocent Sin - Finally a chance for the English Speaking Countries to play it
Dark Souls - Amazing Game
Catherine - A Little bit Different but still worth every penny
Legend of Heroes : Trails in the Sky - A Great little RPG which i bet barely anyone has heard of
either Bastion or Dissidia Duodecim - Duodecim for the hours and hours and hours i put into all the modes and Bastion for the great artstyle and story

Dungeon Defenders looks fun also but im yet to play it so when i end up playing it in the future ill see what i think

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Loved the first two, with Among Thieves being a massive evolution of the first. One of the few games that actually makes me care, laugh and panic and I am awaiting the third with bated breath.

In addition, 3PS games are my forte competitively so I'm equally looking forward to the multiplayer - the taste I've had already proving what I loved about the second has been refined and polished. Thinking about it, Drake's Deception is the only beta I've ever bothered with.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Not only an essential purchase, but I've gone for the Animus Edition - the encyclopedia of the Creed universe was too much of a lure to pass up.

Deep story, a grounded premise in time (when done right games that dabble in timeline manipulation swallow me up more than any other) and a truly unique multiplayer, that completely destroyed the skeptic in me, it would be difficult to pass this up.

Dark Souls

The first game was one that wasn't afraid to be difficult, whilst never feeling unfair no matter how brutal everything became.

I have this one waiting for me to play, and when I do I can only hope it is just as brutal and just as well realised as the first.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

From the first trailer I knew this was a universe I could get behind, to the extent where I've even read the Icarus Effect, something I've never humoured the idea of before.

With the game also seeming to break conventions and actually release a solid piece of single player DLC I can see this being in my playlist for a long time.

Pokemon: Black Version

Pokemon will always have a place in my heart, from the time I got a GameBoy Color and Pokemon Red and Blue for my birthday all those years ago.

Whereas I have technically outgrown this now (24) - it is the game I take with me on business trips to while away the arduous train journeys and lonely hotel nights.

I wonder if my clients would look at me quite so favourably if they knew...

Well...
Arkham City is very good, but not a must-buy.
The Witcher 2 deserves recognition, but it's definitely not for everyone.
Portal 2 was a good deal, when it was on sale at a 70% discount.
Deus Ex: HR. Not as groundbreaking as the original.
Skyrim will be a dumb action-adventure with a hint of RPG elements, at best.
