I wanted to mention the graphics for a moment. I have a friend (A girl OMfGBBQ) and she plays games like Halo Reach but she won't even try Minecraft because "the graphix suk LOL" I actually have a bit of resentment towards my own kind because reasons like this. A friend will give me his gamertag and I'll find out he has 5 games, all shooters, and "HOSTS 8TH PRESTIGE LOBBIES LEGIT". Thanks for mentioning the graphics and ur a kool cat tooAprilgold said:
Well, I don't play online with people I don't know, and I don't immediately judge someone for being a teenage gamer (hell, I was a teenage gamer fifteen years ago. Fun fact: I'm twice your age, OP)... but I do tend to pull my hair out (as if I could afford to, my bald spot is already huge) over what I perceive as "XBox generation" gamers.
The changes to a few genres and the standardization of certain gameplay mechanics within said genres that happened with the popularization of Microsoft's first console has actually put me to arm's length from them. I actually used to like first-person shooters. Now the only new ones I can stand are RPG hybrids.
I don't mind that these new mechanics exist, or that people like them... but I do mind their near-complete saturation of the market. I guess I'm just a gaming dinosaur, and I should be happy my old shooters still work... but the only pure shooter I play anymore is Unreal Tournament. The first one. Over LAN.
...and don't even get me started on third-person action games turning into third-person shooters.... ugh.

Stereotypes are unfortunate and I feel for you, but at least from reading that it comes across that you are an exception to the rule, so bravo there.
For me though, I tend to go by the individual not the age. I've gamed with some younger people who have been some of the greatest people I've had the pleasure of gaming with.
I've also played with some older people who I'd never wish to hear from again and if I encounter them again in my life it would be too soon.
Stereotypes are sad things and sorry to hear your lumped in with all that. All I can say is ignore the stigma attatched to being a young gamer and keep doing what your doing, after all from the sounds of it your doing just fine.

Yeah , like other people said, kids on mics is terrible . Also kids that play videogames and physically hurt people too ( it doesn't have a connection but when a kid does both ,videogames get a bad rep). Oh and because kids like to diss older games because of graphix.

That sounds about right actually. A lot of young players *do* have those emotional skills but you don't hear them, all you hear are the ones who don't. Seems to get amplified if they have friends watching them play, you often hear them as well. (Disclaimer: there are a ton of 'adults' who don't have those skills either)Bloedhoest said:

I play a lot of online games with my PS3 so obviously, we are going to have children making high/low pitched noises with the mic and making crude creations in Little Big Planet. That is what the mute and block button is for. I don't hate child gamers. I hate child gamers playing games way above their age (Example: L4D2) and then sucking. If they are good, and don't have shitty mics, squeaky voices, and can go five minutes without saying "******," I generally don't mind.

I have three main problems with what I refer to as "the Squeaky Voices". One, they're stuck-up as fuck. Two, they over-concern themselves with what others think of them and do stupid and/or fucked up crap like trying to quickscope everything they see, flat-out cheating (usually via glitching), and especially shouting random insults and vulgarities; all in a poor attempt to get people to think they're cool. Three, and most importantly, their Leeroy Jenkins attitudes that involve them actively going against any plan or strategy and even going so far as to call anyone actually using their heads "noobs" and cheaters. While these are far from exclusive to teens / pre-teens (hence why I don't visit CoD4Boards anymore. Even an admin was telling me that tactics and strategy in CoD is bullshit and that I should charge into the open "like a man"), these type of attitudes are most prevalent with people from these age groups. I was just playing Black Ops Zombies on Ascension with three total players. This kid - who had a mic mind you - refused to communicate with me quite often (the third guy didn't have a mic btw), never tried to come up with a strategy of his own, picked up every nuke he came across even after I explained it to him that nukes were usually worth far less points than just shooting the zombies and should only be used in emergencies, killed off final round crawlers early, listen to him actively tell me NOT to revive player number three because "he sucks", his flat out refusal to help me defend the Juggernog machine during monkey rounds, and watch as instead of trying to revive me after I PaP'd my M16 he goes into a corner and tries to glitch - resulting in a lone zombie walking up right behind him and getting the necessary six hits in to down him. This is why you guys get such a bad rep, because of people like this guy.
TL;DR Too many people your age are douches, hence why you guys get a bad rep. As long as you're not acting like the typical "Squeaky Voice" though, people generally will show you some respect.
