Your best Job

Now, I don't want to know what you would like to do, or what you're aspiring to do.

In a recent thread, I discovered another escapist is/has been a cocktail bartender. This has been my favourite job so far, I've had four, and this has been the most enjoyable, with the community that's taught me the most etc etc etc. The banter and stories we have are really something special, I've told one or two on the thread I mentioned (It was entitled "Your policies on alcohol" or something like that)

What I want to know is, escapists, what's your favourite job been, and more importantly, why? Did you have a crappy job that introduced you to your best friend or other half, perhaps? Or did the best day of your life happen while at work or with some of your work buddies? Fill me in!

(incase anybody suggests it, yes I used the search bar, and no there was no similar post I could find)

EDIT: also...how many escapists are or have been bartenders of any kind? Particulary cocktail bartenders. Did you all enjoy it?

So far I really like the job I have. I get to work on the main project source code. People don't treat me like I'm some kid who wandered into the office. I have a pretty high degree of freedom for a fairly new employee. My opinion matters. My work matters. And best of all the pay kicks ass.


I also get to make posts on the Escapist all day

Well, I've only had two jobs... I worked at a fast food ice cream restaurant called Braums... the job wasn't really bad, but one of the managers made me want to kill myself every day I was there... I called in sick and she said I had to come in anyway, then when I got there (after my bike had already been stolen because they wouldn't let me keep it inside), she told me to leave and they had it covered already... so... had to walk a mile home in the rain, while I was sick...

Now, I work at Cici's Pizza (pizza buffet for you that haven't heard of it)... I love it, well, except some guy I work with... but, he is leaving Dec 1st, unless he gets fired first, which is more likely... and the manager said that they are probably moving me up to cooking soon anyway...

I currently work in the Uk on the swine flu hotline, I sit in a chair and take a 10 minute call every hour or so, the rest of the time is spent just wasting time.

I don't have a job, nor have I ever had one, but hopefully I'll be getting a call back from Halfords (fingers crossed!)

I did work experience in a Library, the guys were pretty cool if not a bit nerdy. Norman was a legend too.

I teach my papa how to use a computer and since I get paid for it i'm guessing it's a job. Yep it's a pretty good job sit with him for an hour and show him how to use his computer.

I helped a guy out at a gamestore once and loved every minute of it. While I didn't get paid really I did a free soda and half off a model

Surprisingly, working at the library is incredibly fun.

I am currently a student and work at Hungry Jacks (the same as 'Burger King').
It sucks, customers hate me, my manager hates me and heck i hate me when i work.

My dream job, which I am working towards, is to lecture in physics or to do something with engineering.

I geuss I would also love to become a Star Trek Science consultant (apparently they have them, well did anyway.)

Working for Target. Kinda fun Kinda easy good benefits. Horrible central control though, and a lot of our execs went to wal-mart so we have an influx of horrible new programs that have failed.

I work at a bookstore and in conservation with the Green Team. I Love every minute of both jobs.

Only ever had one job, and all I did was mindless physical work while listening to kickass tunes. So pretty good, yeah.

The only job I've ever had is working at Hungry Jack's so I can't really compare it to anything but I can't wait for the day I finish university and will be able to get a job I like.
dealing with drunk idiots on a saturday night is not my idea of fun
