I recently started playing BioShock 2 and it's giving me everything i want. Exciting new locals, better views of rapture, and awesome upgrades to the visuals while keeping the amazing formula. It's almost as if they asked the fans what they wanted and served it up on a silver platter.

Then it happened Rapture was presented to me in its full beautiful decaying glory. I gasped and stopped playing. I had to sit there for a minute and draw it all in. It felt fleshed out like never before. It was beautiful.

So i ask you what's or biggest breathing nerdy moment.

Also black temple in WOW that end boss still brings tears of joy to my eyes.

Getting twilight princess a few years back and having to restrain myself from finishing it in one sitting. I could have too, but the looks I'd get, the deliriousness from lack of food, and the strange smell that would surely follow made me relent. Just.

Getting my first hat in team fortress 2. A completely useless cosmetic item that has an artificial value due to scarcity. "FUCK YES!!!"

Oh, and finishing F-zero's story mode on the highest difficulty. Literally air punching after that one, that was my crowning moment of nerdom right there!

This. My first "real" hat drop (I have the Cheater's Lament and Ghastly Gibus) was a Camera Beard. Technically not a hat, but still.

The announcements of both L4D2 and Portal 2 have had me pretty exited in a spectacular nerdy way, that isn't exactly what you were talking about though (even if the Portal 2 excitement is still in the "HELLYESPORTAL2HELLYESPORTAL2HELLYE... you get the idea" stage).

I guess completing both Mass Effects on Insanity would be pretty close. I don't normally play games on full difficulty, but that was so worth it.

Arriving at Olympus Coliseum for the first time in Kingdom Hearts. You're fighting through the prelims, everything's going fine and dandy, and suddenly, Cloud Freaking Strife walks by. Granted, you only get a passing glance that first time... But that icy stare, the bizarre but strangely familiar outfit and, of course, that unmistakable hairdo, make his identity absolutely clear. Seeing child-sized versions of Tidus, Wakka and Selphie was a treat, sure, but it was nothing compared to this.

And then, Phil informs you that you'll be fighting him.

I wish I could put a game down, but that would be a lie. The real moment was during the Video Games Live concert at San Diego Comic Con last year.

Pretty sure I wound up shivering through the entire Zelda sequence, and that was just one part.

When I first started playing WoW all those years ago, everything I wanted in an MMORPG. Quitting was also a big move for me... freedom.

Hmm... probably the first time I saw Advent Children. Sometime during the battle sequence against Bahamut, specifically.

Well, it wasn't a single moment, but at one time I was running a probably a few hundred mods for Oblivion, read lots of articles about Elder Scrolls mods, and tried my hand at modding myself.

I suppose for a single nerdy moment, probably my excitement when I heard you would get to be king in Fable 3.

By nerdgasm I assume you mean something related to videogames or technology that you are profoundly moved by, but someone else who isn't so heavily into videogames and technology would just say "I don't get it." or "That's neat, I guess."

For me that moment was the first time I fought the Boss at the end of MGS3. It was so emotional and profound. I distinctly remember feelings of relief, but also regret, lost love, sacrifice and understanding. In other words, it was a lot like a real orgasm. :D

Heh, I've like 4 of those now, Valve kind of forgot to make the rare once they stopped being technically hats. Oh well!

I guess when I first fired the Experimental MIRV in Fallout 3, but I also have regular wanks over the new God of War game's trailers.

My biggest nerdgasm occured recently when I heard that they would be releasing 'INFINITE SPACE', a game heavily based on the book 'Childhood's End' by Arthur C. Clarke, the book to which we owe the existence of 'NGE' and Starcraft, on the DS this March. Brilliant.

Livin' out my Predator fantasy in AVP (the new one).
Hehehehe, basically beat me to it. But mine was being able to actually run, jump, and flee like an alien actually would instead of standing there taking a wall of bullets or plasma.

It was either finding out that the idea what I came to at about 7 regarding galaxy formation then discarded as unlikely was demonstrated probably correct by Hubble in my late teens...
No, it's this.
I was at a convention. My first ever convention, and so far still my only convention. Ursula K. LeGuin was making a rare public appearance, reading from a new book and entering into lively conversation, and Peter S. Beagle was selling and signing books and later would sing a few songs for us. (Damn it, there's more, but it's not relevant. Gasm.)
I had been thinking about mythic tropes in his book The Last Unicorn. I'd also recently read his novella Two Hearts, a sequel to the aforementioned book, and was surprised (though not shocked) to have my idea of the mythic nature of their story arcs bear fruit in the novella as well. I brought up this trope with Mr. Beagle, and he identified the trope by name (he referred to it, I believe, as "the summer king" trope), and said that he most likely had been familiar with that mythological concept when he wrote it but was fairly certain he did not have it in mind. However, he liked that it did, in fact, fit both stories, and apologized in advance that he might forget he didn't come up with it himself.
I got light-headed. Not dizzy, so not literally a "nerdgasm," but I had to go lay down.

If it has to be video game related, it would probably be seeing the storyline play out for Xenogears. Frustrating presentation, but staggeringly good story.

I first saw a trailer for Legion, saw the sign on the building saying "Paradise Falls" and squealed in a very high pitched voice "Fallout 3!" loud enough for probably half the theater to hear. (I was crushed when I saw that it,in fact, wasn't a Fallout movie.)
