The games listed might not be genuinely bad but I didn't like them and I don't feel I got anywhere close to my money's worth with them. I'll also keep it to games I actually bought and not ones that came as part of a package in a Steam / Humblebundle deal.
1) GTA 4 - I've been vocal about this one and it's clearly the worst game I've played this generation. I got sucked in by the constant perfect scores AND player hype only to buy a game which just disappointed on every level. I ultimately sold it within a couple weeks to a co-worker who loved the game. So at least I didn't get totally ripped off by it.
2) L.A. Noire: This game was sheer boredom. I bought it for under $10.00 on Steam because I was hesitant and my instincts were correct. This is a game that proves how 'realism' does not always equal fun. If the game had a better checkpoint system or better yet, an autosave feature I might have 'forced' myself through more than about 6 or so cases. As it stands, the story wasn't compelling enough to push me forward. The protagonist was as dull as they come. And the game play put me to sleep. I love that this game tries something new but it just didn't connect with me on any level.
3) Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword: The controls felt broken and this killed the game for me. I want to love it but I can't get a smooth control experience. I freely admit that this is my own fault because reviewers and players alike praise this game for great control. The fact is, despite 10+ hours of play, I can't do an accurate angular swipe if my life depends on it. I'm fighting with the controls more then I'm enjoying the experience or getting immersed in the game
4) Resident Evil 6: Honestly, this game probably deserves the number 1 spot as I consider it to be the 'worst' actual game on my list. However, it takes 4th spot because I had the good fortune to play this co-op side by side with a friend which resulted in a good deal of fun. We both hated the game, the controls were awful, the story was bad in a way that wasn't even 'cheesy', and it didn't remotely feel like a Resident Evil franchise game 90% of the time. Despite all of this...I had moments of fun playing co-op with a friend and that elevates it beyond the experiences the above games.
5) Skyrim: Similar to GTA 4 this game was a victim of overwhelming hype. I LOVED Oblivion and easily invested 1000 hours+ into that game. Skyrim on the other hand felt immediately dated. It plays like an expansion with improved graphics but worse characters and stories. The combat in this series has aged terribly and when Skyrim came out it really showed.
