Actually I do like 40K (I'm a black templars/necron guy if you're wondering), just not enough to spend hundreds and hundreds of pounds on it. And I'm guessing as he did it when he was a teenager bills aren't really much of an issue to him. Also, I'm pretty sure he didn't play it because otherwise he probably would've invested in a board or something.
I don't have a table to play on ^^; I go around to friends, some people just get more invested in their interests then others.

Yeah, but there's never a need to invest THAT much, I'm just saying. I've seen Games Workshops with less warhammer in them.

It's a case of you don't see a need, maybe he does. Maybe he gets enjoyment out of making and painting the models? Isn't that what's important.

Look, I barely know the guy so I can't really comment. Yes there might be some reason why he does it, but ultimately most people will agree with me in thinking he's a bit of a weirdo to be that obsessed with something. It seems an unhealthy dependence and so ultimately his perceived happiness is not of the utmost importance. (I know it's a shit analogy but just because a heroin addict enjoys taking heroin it doesn't mean we should leave them to it, their perceived happiness does not come first)

Did you just compare a perfectly acceptable hobby to taking drugs? Thinking someone is weirdo because they are really into something on a level you haven't seen before doesn't make that person odd.

I collect a lot of anime and manga (I have spent thousands) among other hobbies including 40k, does that make me a weirdo? Just because you think something is odd or wrong, doesn't mean it is.

Actually, I'm an hour up the 401 in Chatham, I'm in Windsor a fair bit though.
You know, I've always lived so close to your town yet I've only been there once. Well, other than the hundreds of times I've driven through it on the 401. How is it there?

A set of martial throwing knives, Excalibar replica and Katana replica. The Bowie knife on my bedside table usually gets the most stares...
Or my statue of Commander Shepard (Mass Effect)

Books. I have books on the floor on the walls, in shelves... and nestled in between those are swords, guns (namely my 1861 Enfield *smooch*) a compound bow and a poster showing 2 Bengal Tigers. Its a bit eclectic. Oh, that and my fan from Okinawa Japan

haha I have a similar collection of your run of the mill coke caps I collected out when I was playing Fallout a lot.

I also have a pile of comics and dvds facing my bedroom door that I regard with increasing embarrassment.

The inside of my locker is kinda messed if that counts...
I have a model plane, several tiki idols, several occult sigils and symbols, a dvd player, the contents of one of my friend's lockers... (don't tell him,) a plethora of half empty waterbottles...

That's just the stuff I can remeber...

I collect a lot of video game figurines. Yeah. Some people consider that to be the geekiest kind of collection but oh well. I love them. xD
Awesome, I would but I have never had the money for that and new games/rent/bills

OT: probably the limeted edition for games, I like to display them, that and the posters that sometimes come with them

I did say it was a shit analogy. But ultimately I'm making the point that their enjoyment is not paramount. When being "into something" borders on obsession it does make that person odd. Besides, addiction is bad regardless of what you're addicted to.

Also the way the world works is on general opinion, if general opinion says it's weird then that means it is. It doesn't matter if it's just my opinion but when most of the world agrees with me then it's a different case. So yes, I suppose you are a weirdo, but don't take it personally.

Of course it may not always be the case but in this one I'm fairly certain the guy I'm talking about was a weirdo.

I have PS1 games littered everywhere in my bedroom. I just found a copy of Colony Wars Red Sun proping up my Gears of War figures.

That is a very black and white way of looking at the world, opinion doesn't equal fact. But to each their own.
