1)Samus Aran (Metroid), who is both the greatest Strong Female Character [sup][sup]Cliched-Ass Trademark Gag[/sup][/sup] in gaming and extremely attractive.

2)Faye Valentine (Cowboy Bebop). Essentially the same deal as Samus: fanservice + ACTUAL CHARACTERIZATION = great character.

3)Fred Burkle (Angel). I know there's this perception that she's essentially just a walking checklist of "endearing" traits for the audience to go over before Whedon does his thing and kills her brutally, but I found her to be a complex and genuinely likeable character.

3a)Willow Rosenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Figured I'd put her with Fred, since they're from the same universe, I like them for many of the same reasons, and I usually want to give both of them platonic cuddles. Overall, I'd have to say I prefer Willow. While Fred gets her moments of badassery, they occasionally feel like an attempt to fill an arbitrary quota of awesome moments/character, rather than something that really fits with her character. Willow, on the other hand, is genuinely badass. I believe at one point in the comics she's explicitly stated to be the most powerful magical being in the universe.

3b)Ooh, and Faith. Badass, in-depth characterization, the whole works, and for this one I'm getting decidedly less platonic with the cuddles. She also gets bonus points for being one of the few people to not throw a ***** fit at Angel over the whole Twilight mess.

3I)You know what, let's just say every female in the Buffyverse except for Buffy herself. And Harmony. Harmony sucks.

2. Aveline from Dragon Age II. It's very nice to see a female character who is feminine, but strong at the same time. And again, she is responsible for some of the funniest moments in that game.
Feminine? You mean Mighty Man-jaw? I think she even had facial hair she was so mannish. I will agree with her being funny though :)
I meant feminine in the sense that she is strong, but that doesn't mean she's all "grr, emotions are stupid". SHe even has her own romance arc.

Oh my. I watched that video, and good God get that guy an alka seltzer, because he's full. Full of himself and full of shit.

I went in expecting actual, valid criticisms of the series. Ones that actually made sense. Maybe even ones I have personally.

What I got instead was a long string of exaggerations, misdirections, and pointless bitching. (I really laughed at the "remain unbiased and object" bit at the start, which was followed by nothing but vitriolic disgust and insults" He seemed, throughout, to be reaching desperately for things to criticize. I'm not sure I found even a single valid point in the lot. And I actually tried to find one. (Loved the bit when he essentially said: Alyx Vance is an affable, likeable, believable, human character. And that makes her a bad character." lolwut. XD )

Still, I enjoyed the video. It was essentially fifteen minutes of hilarity. I practically lost it, laughing uncontrollably, when he actually emphasized the point of Half-Life having variety as if it were a bad thing. I haven't heard such modestly articulated bullshitting in quite some time.

Thank you for the link.

Damn it. The forum ate my first post. The one with my personal list of favorite female leads.

Too tired and stressed at the moment to go through the process of finding all of the damn images and links I had showcasing my picks.

Sigh...*mumble grumble*

From Resident Evil, Wesker and Leon. (special mention to Chris!)

Edgar, Vincent, Zell, Zidane, Auron and Sazh from the Final Fantasy franchise. Can't be bothered finding all their pictures, but you get the idea >_>

Professor X, from the movie and comics.

Also any character Patrick Stewart plays because he's awesome.

Wallace wells (comic book and the fantastic movie adaptation).

Hareton Earnshaw from Wuthering Heights. I know he was a bit of a dick and a 'Tim nice but dim' character sometimes, but right near the end I couldn't help but love him because he was so sweet.

(insert picture of one of the various actors who played him)

Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead.
Special mention to Rick and Glenn!

Caroline or better known as GlaDOS from Portal (2).

She (we agree on that, don't we?) is the most malevolent intelligent, sarcastic, snarky chick ever. I also love how she is trying to understand how the human psyche works, and in some degrees she gets it right.
Somehow that attracts me with the combination of her admitting she is going to do evil things.

I... I don't know. I haven't watched anything with strong female roles lateley.
I mean, I watched Star Trek, the Prisoner, Red Dwarf, Family Guy, and the Fesh Prince of Bel-Air lateley, and they either have very weak, 2-dimensional female characters, or none at all.

The last film I watched was Rocky, and Adrian is not a person I admire.

This is a tough one. What about the last book I read? The Dreams in Witch-House and Other Tales of Horror by H.P. Lovecraft. Yeah no help there, either.

Ooh, I remember one! Bliss from the Foundation series by Asimov! She is very strange and exotic, part of a hivemindy thing, and a beautifull young woman who fell in love with a dusty old historian. What's not to like?

Ok let me have a quick think...

Super-sarcy, silly, conniving, and generally fun
He just always comes through in everything he does, and he's ne of the ultimate 'Best Friend' characters. It's a shame the prequels were so bad, but at least the character of Obi-Wan was still awesome!
Pure evil, insanely clever, and he decides to become a god because he is bored. Is that not the best motivation you've ever heard?
He's a rip-off Iceman from Topgun, but he is easily my favourite male in RE. A constant source of amusing quotes!
seen here in his KH2 attire. I love the furry jacket most of all, I think.

This was hard, and I've realised most of my character choices are evil or bad. Not sure what that says about me.

Coincidentally I struggled with this list, but had I been listing female characters, I can think of about 10 off the top of my head :p

Number 1 for me would definitely be Nico Robin from One Piece. If one were to ask me to be as chauvinistic as possible, and make my own dream woman, Nico Robin is the closest thing to "the perfect woman" to me.

She's cool, collected, articulate, always knows the right thing to say in practically any given situation. She has a macabre sense of humor that I really like. Her desire to always learn more and better herself is a real turn-on for me, and if you earn her trust, she is faithful to the very end. Seeing her try to live and survive after her backstory is enough to make nearly anyone just want to hug her. Plus, it doesn't hurt that, despite Eiichiro Oda's proportions, she's physically what I find the most attractive. Black hair, blue eyes, tall(which means killer legs, and I'm a legs man), with slightly tanned skin. Hey, I said I was being chauvinistic.

Number 2 would be Liara T'Soni from Mass Effect. I think she is the best developed love interest character from the series, because you have a strong arc that spans across all three games.

I find the way she says nearly everything so innocently in the first game to be adorable, and I couldn't help but be entranced by her big, pretty blue eyes. Watching her progress across the games as she becomes more hardcore by the time the second game kicks in (and reading the comic tie-in, Mass Effect: Redemption), and beating LotSB, and hearing what she has to say afterwards is just great writing for a couple who've had to deal with a two-year disappearance. Her dialog to you, if you beat LotSB before the suicide mission, is much more than "Let's copulate before rushing into certain death", its fear of losing a loved one for a second time. It feels far deeper than any other romantic option, and more interesting to me.

Those are the two I just really like. Others I like are:

Catwoman (Selina Kyle). When she's got a good writer behind her, she's one of my favorite Batman characters.

Jasmine from Disney's Aladdin.

Inara from Firefly.

Major Mokoto Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell.

EDIT: Marion Ravenwood from Indiana Jones.

Captain America was my hero when I was younger. He was brave, loyal, intelligent, thoughtful, tolerant, and a leader. Even in the 90s when everyone was "dark and edgy", he did what was right, not what was easy. He didn't kill, and didn't work with people who did. I always respected that.

Totally counts. His death absolutely crushed me. I had to walk away from the series for three weeks before I was ready to see the rest.

Not the best picture, but it doesn't matter because you've never seen this anime anyway. My father watched it with me, in one of the rare moments when he tried to bond with me and show an interest in my hobbies. I leaped off of the couch and cheered at the kiss, and that was the end of the series for him.

Honorable mention to Captain Mal. Nathon Fillion is amazing. If they ever get around to a live-action Cowboy Bebop movie, he NEEDS a role doing something.

A snarky, arrogant guy, but damned if he wasn't right. Much like the previous entry and the following, there's nothing about these characters I should like. But their actors are so wonderful, they become favorites anyway.

Again, nothing about him is really likable, but the actor does disingenuous jerk so well that he's a favorite character anyway.

He didn't appear as much as I'd like, but he's so pretty I don't care.
