Insomniac Games.

Apart from holding my favorite games, they have been consistent in the development of them.

Bioware. Even though they are kind of repeating many of they're tricks, each game I've played from them has been pretty amazing. I've replayed all of they're games since KotoR atleast 2 times so I'm pretty sure I've spent more time playing Bioware games than from any other developer.

I would have said Valve a year or two ago, but since they aren't really giving any support to console gamers and they just can't get things done, I can't really give them a vote. I don't want to hear any pc elitisism or consipiracy theories or anything, but the fact that I can't play as any other character as sniper in TF2 is just stupid. Why make a console version of a game only to update it to an unplayable status? And that instead of making something that the majority of they're fans want, they make sequels to games that don't need sequels.

LucasArts - They made an epic FPS Star Wars game back in the 90's.. I can't remember what it was called..

As for my favorite/s now, Bioware, Nintendo, Valve and Epic Games.
The only awesome Star Wars FPS i can remember is Republic Commando, it's 2005 though ?

Bioware for me, and i believe what Volafortis said is true, it'll be 90% Bioware/Valve and the rest just whining ;)

Bungie. I just like the way they do things. Plus I have yet to see another game with as detailed a tracking system as Halo.

Bay12 for me - Now i know thats not the most obvious choice, but it is my favorite 'company'.
In terms of major companies, Rockstar would be mine.

Free Radical. Purely because they made Timesplitters, the greatest FPS series of all time :)

Wii Music says hello.

So does all the franchises they're milking for all their worth.
Can someone explain to me how they are milking their franchises when they continue to push out great games in said franchises? I'd only say they were milking them if they put no effort into these games, but despite what people claim I've only seen people improve and refine their franchises over time, and they do try new things with them.
I wish I could agree, but after being severely disappointed with the last couple of Mario Karts, the New Super Mario Brothers and all these uninspiring Mii based titles, I'd say that's pretty much true milk right there. Also, I don't agree at all with them improving it either, what did they improve on?

Even after writing that, Nintendo is still my favourite game developer, but for the previous generations, that's what I will always remember them for. Great stuff like Ocarina of Time, Metroid Prime and Super Mario Kart 64.

I actually think Apogee/id are some of favourite game developers ever. They gave us games like Commander Keen and Duke Nukem which proved the PC could provide fun, fast paced games like the consoles, rather than just stuffy adventure games and RPGs. Then people went on to form id and gave us Wolfenstein, DooM and Quake. These games are absolutely timeless, the mods for these games are endless fun, and the Quake engines have led onto absolutely incredible games, such as the Source engine games, and other games such as War§ow and Nexuis. I don't think enough people nowadays appreciate how important these developers were.

Don't forget that the people who founded Free Radical used to work for Rare, and worked on Donkey Kong Country 3, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark... so yeah, they are just plain awesome.

Bioware and Valve.

And IO Interactive. (Hurry up with the next Hitman! I've been waiting for this longer than everyone else has been waiting for Ep3!)

Valve
considering the quality of their products in respect to the comparative size of their company (especially when compared with bioware's mother company, EA) has constantly impressed me
valve -250(2010) employes
bioware ~500(2008)
EA -7320(2009)
add to the fact that their games are mostly bug free on release, and managing the largest game platform, no wonder it takes them so long to make something
*yes, facts from wiki so they may be wrong, but valve is still smaller the most main stream companies that it is being compared to*
also doesnt help that im not a big fan of RPGs
*returns to worshiping portal*

Didn't I see this two days ago? Ah well, I didn't comment then, I will now.

Gas Powered Games. They made Supreme Commander, the behemoth of RTS games (a game I love more than Starcraft and consider superior). They were then not content with this munificence, but released the source code for modders. Supreme Commander, its expansion, Forged Alliance, and I think the new Supreme Comander 2 now have some of the best mods out there. And me and my friends can play this game for over 4 hours at a time and not tire.

Thanks, Gas Powered Games!

I'll ask my programmer/SupCom2 playing mate.

I didn't get SupCom2 because it looked a bit... shallow. All the tech trees got ripped out and replaced with research and pretty graphics (even though the originals were pretty too). All in all, I was having too much fun with SupCom and Forged Alliance to invest in SumCom2. However, I'll check my facts with my mate.

Regardless. BioWare.
Don't forget Blizzard and Bethesda, they're usually at the top of the list too.

OT: Probably valve, tf2 is the only multiplayer game that I play consistently.

Bungie have their shooters... But Bioware have the RPGs... ARGH!...

I have to go with Bungie for their interaction with their fan-community.
