Well, I can easily list a lot of games. I've been gaming since the 80s, so I've played many. So it might be easier to break it down into categories like "favorite of all time" or "favorite contemporary titles" or "favorite games on platform X".

Since I've participated in a lot of threads like this, this time around I'm going to list only my top ten favorite PC games.

In no particular order:
1 - Half-Life + series
2 - Homeworld
3 - Diablo 2
4 - Mechwarrior 2 + expansions
5 - Torchlight 2
6 - Mechcommander 2
7 - Dota 2
8 - Portal 2
9 - Left 4 Dead 2
10 - Doom + series

My current "favorite" game, though, is Titanfall. It's been an absolute blast since launch. I've logged countless hours playing with a dedicated group of friends. We've even played in a few scrims and tourneys. It easily ranks up there with Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, Counter-Strike, etc, as one of the great online arena shooters; for me personally, anyway.

2. Psychonauts
3. 999: 9 Doors 9 Persons 9 Hours (or something like that)
4. Team Fortress 2

Haven't had any other memorable ones.

At the moment, it's Borderlands 2. Gotta fire more bullets, gotta drown the galaxy in fire and blood and choking gun smoke!

Of all time? That is kind of hard.
I will just go to my default go-to answer: Super Mario World

I've got quite a lot but I'll stick to 10 like Vigormortis, only I'll add in what console I played and bought them for.

1. Bayonetta-360
2. Burnout Paradise - PS3/PC
2. C&C Red Alert 3- PC/360/PS3
3. Devil May Cry - PS2
4. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - 360/PC
5. Fable II - 360
6. Metal gear Solid 4 - PS3
7. Saints Row 3 - 360/PC
8. Left 4 Dead 1+2 - PC
9. Transformers fall/War for Cybertron - 360/PC
10. Assassins Creed II - 360/PC

Those would most likely be my all time favorites I'd likely play again and again for years, I know I still play L4D, TF, Red Alert 3, Skyrim and now recently Ass Creed 2 these days.

I wonder if we can have a thread of your non favourite games, (not bad games) but oens you mildly enjoyed but wouldn't exactly call a favourite.

Top 10:
1. Turok (the original 2)
2. Far Cry 2 (and 3 to a slightly lesser extent)
3. Metro 2033
4. F.E.A.R.
5. Kingdom Hearts 2
6. Fallout 3
7. Persona 4
8. Metal Gear Solid (just the whole damn franchise, okay?)
9. Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal
10. Guitar Hero

And they are not in any particular order, just the order I thought of them in. I really thought about Guitar Hero not being on here, but I have such fond memories of having fun with friends with it and being so good at it that I really have no choice.

I don't have any particular order for these games, but regardless I love them for one reason or another.

Kingdom Hearts 2, because it was the game that got me into it in the first place

Final Fantasy Dissidia Duodecim, because it fixed a lot of problems that the original Dissidia had, along with more characters and retained, more or less, the same amazing combat system.

The entire Pokemon series. I've put more hours into that series than every other game I've ever played combined.

Borderlands 2, not because of the combat, which is amazing on its own, but the writing itself is some of the best that I have ever seen in any sort of entertainment media, which includes books, TV shows, ad movies.

Shit, I shoulda put Red Alert 3 on my hardest ommissions. Great game (even with Jenny McCarthhy replacing Kari Wuhrer), glad to see it make someone else's list.

I'm just going to go ahead and point out that your post is suspiciously similar to this:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.860688-Emulator-Games-for-Android-Game-Console#21395389

which is the first of your 2 posts. With the pirate emulator thing in the video you posted instead of just saying "Super Mario 64".

Please, please avoid discussing and/or advertising piracy and pirated products. The video you linked to, which I'm quite certain is yours since the knock-off console you can see the game played on is the one you mentioned in the previous post, shows off pirated ROM emulation, which is still very much illegal.

And mine's Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time. Just like I said in the other nine hundred million billion other topics like this one.

Yeah Red Alert 3 is still one of my favourite RTS's on the basis of it being over the top silly with some great actors in the mix, most of them being my favourite actors like Takei, Curry, Flair, Mcdowell etc. I've been playing with a mod called "shock Therapy" on the PC version and it's amazing since it adds all those extra units from the expansion that you can actually use in RA3's missions which adds a little new variety to the storyline (especially now you can actually build and use Tesla tanks like the old days), the mod also fixes issues the game had as well as graphical changes, mix that in with loads of free custom maps and I'm still playing the game every day I can.

I know it got hit with some bad reviews and fan attention but I loved Red Alert 3 for what it was not what people wanted it to try being, I loved RA2 as much as any other fan but I also gave RA3 a shot and loved it.

Haven't played that mod but I'll have to check it out. And you're right, there was some backlash from fans toward EA since RA2 was so cherished, but I gotta say, I think EA did a great job with that game and doesn't get nearly the credit it deserved for adding co-op and making it actually fun for an RTS, not mention a balanced third class.

I'll have a list ready one day, but for now I'll just go with my usual selection,

Super Metroid
Half-Life 2
Lineage II: Chronicles 1 to 4
Starcraft: Broodwar
Super Smash Brothers Melee

I've played all of these a little too much

Edit: Surprised how many Super Mario Worlds there are here. I always found that the most fun of Mario's lot.

I wont do a top 10 simply because for a lot of these it is hard to rate one better than another.

Mass Effect: Ending aside this was some great world building with some hugely memorable characters, just all around outstanding writing. Except for the ending. Did I mention we aren't going to mention the ending. Just thought Id mention that.

Planescape Torment: Even if you haven't played it, I'm pretty sure you have heard of it. It's on peoples top game lists for a reason. Not only is the protagonist "The Nameless One" completely unique, the gameworld he lives in, the city of Sigil, is one of the little explored D'n'D settings. The game not only brings the character to life, it brings the world to life.

The Elder Scrolls: Ok so my relationship with this series is troubled. I bought Arena when it came out and to be honest, it was shit. HUGE world, I mean really huge. But so empty and devoid of life that anything you actually found was a cardboard cutout of worthlessness. So not even worthless, just a drab version of worthless. Hell, I returned it to the store and they gave me a refund. Even people selling it acknowledged it was shit. I kind of liked Daggerfall, bugs aside. It succeeded in making me feel I was actually wandering a world rather than a massive empty series of screens. Oblivion finally got it, especially the Shivering Isles. While I do accept the criticisms that can be levelled at Skyrim....wow have I killed some hours on this game. 200 hours plus so far. Some of it catching butterflies and standing near rivers going "ooh, fish"

Baldur's Gate: I did like the first game but it was Baldur's Gate 2 that knocked it out of the ball park. Funny and enjoyable party members who comment on your adventures, epic scale and satisfying tactical combat. Is it any wonder that people are having successful kickstarters for this kind of game?

Capcom's Tales Series: While I never really find the overarching stories of these games particularly memorable, the characters they create are pretty good. The exchanges they have are generally either hilarious or touching, or a combination of both. I tend to come out of these games with more fond memories of who the characters are than anything about the big bad they are fighting. I once had a friend tell me he skipped all the cutscenes and never watched the skits which kind of had me wondering why he even bothered, considering they are pretty much why you sign up for a Tales game.
