So, I recently enrolled in A/V at my school, and I had the pleasure to learn that my teacher was as nerdy if not nerdier than I was. And thus we have been alienating the rest of the class by airing our views on every crappy movie and TV show under the sun. In short: it's pretty awesome.

My question to you guys is: what was your favorite teacher/professor and why?

Don't worry, you don't need to name names if you can't remember them.

My Arabic professor these last two semesters. First day, I didn't know she was the professor until she started teaching. Until class actually started, I thought a ballsy student was messing around with the computer in the front of the class. She kept this vibe for those two semesters, by which I mean it felt like a friend and fellow student was teaching me the basics of Arabic.

And yes, she was cute.

I had a pretty good Geography teacher. She was hot.
Left after a year or so, sadly.

My favorite teacher was an english teacher (and wrestling coach) I had in high school by the name of Tom Sawyer. He was a former Army Ranger who served during the Panama conflict, and at one point got hit by a train and came out of it with nothing but a cracked pelvis.

My professor in all my professional education subjects.

Mainly because it's only after taking her classes that I decided on becoming a teacher myself.

My grade 11 Social Teacher, he seemed like the only teacher in the whole school who knew what the fuck he was talking about. He was also the only adult in the school to support me joining the army, even signed some papers too.

Best teacher?

Senor Chang!

OT - School was a long time ago but my geography teacher was pretty cool. Recently added him on facebook. He discusses whiskey and films almost as much as I do.

My A'Level Physics teacher.
He keeps his lessons interesting, and is a nice guy.
Plus, he's family.
EDIT: Thought of my Systems of Knowledge (don't ask) teacher.
The guy was a geek, dropping Spiderman references during lessons, wore Portal t-shirts and is really into science. He's a freaking baus.

My teacher I had basically all Primary school, Looking back at class photos, She is babe in them. Still is. Then my yr 10 homeroom teacher he is irish and tells fantastic stories. Lastly my 24 yr old yr 12 maths teacher who flirted with the students. Yes total babe. And me and my yr 12 media teacher would talk about dr who and computer games in class and derail class discussions

My high school biology/chemistry teacher.

She is one of the most amazing teachers I've had. At my last year of high school I got a mediocre grade on my first chemistry test and she said that I was too smart to get that grade so she expected to see me get at least a grade higher than that. I almost managed 2.

She was the kind of teacher that could talk and even if you didn't focus on what she was saying things would stick and you could remember it afterwards. She was the teacher who inspired me to take science classes and she is the reason why I decided to become a teacher in a high school myself. When I was out of high school she even checked with her husband to see if they needed someone at his work since she knew I was unemployed.

I had pretty amazing teachers in high school.

Either the course leader of my Creative Writing course or the Science-Fiction tutor.

The course leader for CW was a revelation for me when I actually ended up in his class. For the past 2 1/2 years I'd been ridiculed and mocked for writing fantasy and sci-fi, and then the course leader was a fantasy author who actually genuinely helped me to improve my writing instead of just tearing it down.

And the sci-fi tutor was just a nerd. Like a massive geek who once managed to derail his own class (with my help) We ended up discussing the finer points of Star Trek while the rest of the class just sat and stared. They might have been nerdy enough to take sci-fi, but none of them even compared to me and the teacher.

English teacher was pretty sweet in high school. Mr Dunkin was his name and he's still one of the most interested teachers i've ever had. He's so good at getting the class involved and actually WANTING to participate.

He was my junior year teacher though, come senior year everyone realized he was a little screwy in the head and believed in conspiracy theories and was a smidge racist but hey he was still a damn good teacher and for that I respect him.

edit: Oh and I HAD** a geology teacher in college who never wore bras and our lecture hall was quite cold... awkward. Really good teacher though

My current favourite teacher is my Philosophy teacher, since he knows a lot of the same movies, games and books that I know and like(he loves Doctor Who and has a poster in his office). Plus, he is absolutely hilarious... he's just so mad. Two of my media teachers who have now left were great too as they had a good sense of humour (very punny) and yet again, knew a lot of the stuff i'm interested in.

My year 8 and 9 English teacher Mrs Dent was unbelievably hot.

*Drools*

Then there was my other English teacher Dr Beckett, she was feared by other students, but I was her favourite. It was totally sweet being able to get away with things that other students couldn't. ^^

I would have to say my high school history teacher. He was one of the very few that actually made the class interesting and entertaining. He was also very likeable, approachable and treated me as an equal as opposed to a student in spite of his reputation for being quick tempered. As a result he helped spark my current love/obsession for history that has actually led me decide that I want to major in History when I finally get to college.

History teacher and form tutor Mr. Barnett. We don't share many interests, have very little in common, but he believes in me and I know he has my back. Also he let me and my friends sit with him and eat cake. That's great.

Back in High school my favourite teachers were my English teacher from Year 8 to Year 11 and the Technology Department technician. The English teacher was just plain awesome - essentially a localised version of Brian Blessed, while the Technician jammed bass with me and my band and helped put together a huge Union Jack on a flagpole for my Leaving costume.

At uni, so far my favourite lecturer has had to be my Global Literature guy who compared Robinson Crusoe to Minecraft. I'm certain I was the only person who got it though.

Hmmm... Although the guy I have for maths at uni is quite awesome. I don't think that it matches some of my highschool teachers that I had in the final years of highschool.

The best would either have been my Maths, music or english teachers.

My Maths theacher was called Keith Arblaster.
Seriously how could he not be awesome.
My Music teachers:
One was a grey haired hippy called Tred who played the guitar (again what not to like)
The other was called Jarms and he played Keys and was a sound engineer (Interesting guy. Could probably hold your attention if he spent 3 hours trying to explain how to turn an PC on).

and my English teacher.

Pardo. Was a cop before being a teacher. yeah he was fun.

They are the main ones but really many of my teachers were brilliant.

Um...damn, I didn't think I'd be ninja'd so completely.

But yeah, my high school history teacher is possibly my favorite teacher ever, although there were a lot of great contenders for the role.

I enjoyed high school. Mostly. About 85%.
