In no specific order but definitely on the very top:
- Pain of Salvation
- Lacrimosa
- Marillion

Further down the road, not necessarily favorites but bands/artists I like a lot:
- Dream Theater
- Jacques Brel
- Loreena McKennitt
- Savatage
- Nick Cave

So yeah, mostly (progressive) rock and metal with some other stuff mixed in. Lately, I also started getting more and more into jazz and blues...

Well, if I were to judge simply on my top 5 for Last.Fm (in order of listens)

Pearl Jam
Screaming Trees
Alice in Chains
Dream Theater
Seventh Wonder
And various other Classic Rock Progressive Metal/Rock bands

This however, has changed somewhat over the past year or two. I've grown a bit weary of Progressive metal since nothing in the genre is really progressive anymore, and has come to be a bit more about how fast, how complicated, and how to maximize the amount of time changes. Not always a bad thing, but it grows tiresome on average listener.

Nowadays, I'd say my taste in music has changed to be a bit broader.

Tycho - a chillwave group that got me into some other electronic groups
My Morning Jacket - Angelic vocals, progressive-esque drumming, a booming bass, full on-rock band.
The Avett Brothers - Folk, not a Mumford band
Elbow
Fitz and the Tantrums
Silverchair
Nick Drake, Bon Iver, The National, Sigur Ros, Unwed Sailor, Azedia, Counting Crows, Pearl Jam (still up there), Coheed and Cambria/Prize Fighter Inferno, Jason Mraz, Gary Clark Jr. All bands/groups I listen to on a weekly basis.

Some examples, and I see that my tastes have changed from preferring full on hard hitters to preferring the nostalgic and familiar feelings of folk and the musical dynamics of post-rock, which when combined make some great "Indie" tunes. Also grown an ear for listening to well made pop tunes. I find myself preferring Silverchair's recent (a few years old) "poppy" albums over their alternative/grunge ones.

Too many to count but here are a few of the main ones:

The Smashing Pumpkins
Antiskeptic
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Elliott Smith
Local H
Paramore
The Beatles

I'm more into the alternative rock side of music but the majority of the artists I listen to usually don't just do one style they tend to be more varied and i can usually listen and enjoy most music genres.

At the-you know what, why don't you just go ahead and take a gander at my Last.fm profile, that might be easier (although the order they're in doesn't necessarily reflect order of preference). Most of the stuff I listen to would full under Rock/Metal, but I like a little bit of everything as this [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.823603-Do-you-have-eclectic-taste-in-music#19948213] post will hopefully testify. Also I suppose I prefer to think in terms of my favourite albums rather than favourite artists.

My all-time favorite would have to go to Relient K. Followed closely by Owl City. After that, it really depends on the day, but these round out my top 10:

Zircon
Lights
House of Heroes
Skillet
Weird Al Yankovic
Mumford & Sons
Deas Vail

So I appear to mostly prefer electronic, pop/punk, and alternative music. Sounds about right. I also like a fair amount of Country, but have no attachment to any particular artist there.

In no particular order:

Queen (Though they are the top of my list, period)
Pixies
David Bowie
The Who
Buffalo Tom
The Stone Coyotes
Morphine
Led Zepplin
The Beatles
Almost anything Nuno Bettencourt or Gary Cherone has done post-Extreme (though that's sort of a misnomer with a new record in the last few years)
Tony Iommi (Oddly enough, less a Sabbath fan)

I tend towards "classic" rock with a Boston Alternative secondary. I do listen to a lot of metal and blues, but I don't really have favourites (overall) in either genre.

It fluctuates between genres, eras, moods whatever is going on. The list would simply be too long.

I like 90's rock (Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana etc). I remember turning on my boombox and listening to these bands on the radio while doing my homework as a kid. Use to sing along to some of them and piss my family off. I enjoy singing "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden given how slow it is.
