Now this can include a normal engine or a physics engine, it doesn't matter.

I personally like Frostbite alot. Unreal engine 3 looks good but I hate the blood effects...

Seconded really, although I don't care thát much about the CryEngine2 since looks aren't that important to me. I do adore the Source engine, and what you can do with it. So many possibilities, and the games created with it still look good as well. L4D, TF2, Portal, they all have brilliant graphics in my opinion but they need only a fraction of the system specs a game like Crysis or Far Cry 2 needs. I still wonder why they haven't made an MMO based on the Source engine. It would look brilliant and have low system specs, especially what an MMO needs.

Infinity Engine (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment), Gamebryo (Oblivion, Fallout 3) and whatever Shadow of the Colossus used.

I like the Source Engine, and whatever engine they made Fallout 3 with, that's cool too.

Also: What was the engine they made Left 4 Dead with? i know it wasn't the Source engine.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RenderWare
RenderWare, its so good, you guys dont even know it exists, Criterion have been updating it since before GPU's were standard in PC's.

It powered Grand Theft Auto 3, GTA san andreas, the Burnout series used it, in fact it was the De facto game engine for PS2.

And the current version of RenderWare is so good that Burnout from PS3 and XBOX360 there are no noticable difference from each platform, not to the naked eye. Its so good, you dont know its there, thats how you know something has achieved the title of "greatest", when you dont know its working its ass off to make you happy.

I don't think it was, i remember reading that Garry's Mod could not include Left 4 Dead because it had a different engine then Half-Life, Portal, and TF2.

It's a modified Source. That's why, when you load up Left 4 Dead, it says "Powered by Source."

They can't put L4D in Garry's Mod because the Source coding is fairly disparate.

Left 4 dead was on the Source engine.
Fallout 3 was on the Gamebryo engine.

But to answer the question I like the game play of the source engine.

hell no!, Left 4 Dead uses the Sources engine.

its Source, its Valve, Valve make Source so they wouldn't have a game made by them on anything other than Source.

Maybe gary's mod isn't that good, it cant be upgraded as quickly as the Source Engine can?

Gotta say the Source engine. And Valve didn't MAKE Source they bought the base of the engine from Havok if I remember correctly.

I agree too. The Source engine is a fantastic piece of software, and it'd definitely go down as my favourite. The Cryengine2 is cool but... I just love Source, especially on my chips; HAR-HAR!
