Scout!
Funny thing is, I used to hate playing as a Scout, I just couldn't do it and started to think it was a bit of a worthless class. I did a bit of research on how to play him, got used to the mechanics, and now I think it's probably the most fun class there is.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, nothing is more satisfying in TF2 than taking down a medic/heavy combo with a Scout.

I haven't played in a long while but I really would bounce around between them all. I did the most going up with Soldier and Demo though.

Solly (airshots are too much fun), Demoman (<3 stickies and pills), Scout (fast and exciting).

In order:
1) Scout - I love double jumps and the speed of the scout
weapons: scatter, bonk(now that is doesn't suck), normal bat(sandman is still buggy)
2) Solly - I love rocket jumping
weapons: old school rocket, bunboats, equializer (sad about the damage drop they did)
3) Engy - lvl 1 ninja sentury all the way (in arena that is), then pistol charge into the frey wrenching anybody I can get close enough to.
weapons: lvl 1 sentry, dispencer in base, pistol @ wrench charge the front line
4) Pyro - Compression Blast is the only way to fry
weapons: old school flame for CB, flare, axetinquisher

First love is medic, I love the tag team dynamic that comes with playing him ^^
If i cant find suitable partner/team is full of medics, I go heavy (friendliest character in tf2 imo).
If Im looking to just have fun then I take sniper and play him completely the "wrong" way: being a dod player I find sniper class absurdly easy despite me being a notoriously crappy shot (when i shoot, EVERYONE gets down, aiming is for lesser men!) and play him like I would a dod usa rifleman:
No aiming, just rapid fire the mofo, you're bound to hit someone and no need to even worry about friendly fire (another big difference from most dod servers).
