My first game system was an original Game Boy, and while I can't remember exactly which game I played first (mom got me a few of them at a yard sale) I do remember that I had Super Mario Land, The Flash, and Metroid II: Return of Samus.

Super Mario Land was fun, but tough and I played that a lot. The Flash was again tough, but kind of boring after the second level. Metroid II left me wondering just what the hell is going on, where the hell am I and why I could turn into a ball.

The first one I actually sat down and played for more than twenty minutes though (and the first one I ever really connected with annd enjoyed the hell out of) was the old classic Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. Holy god what a game to kick off a video gaming career with.

Age 3 - 4, playing either Super Mario Bros. or Duck Hunt on the NES. I'm not sure how I felt with Super Mario Bros., but I would get frustrated with Duck Hunt and hold the Zapper at the screen to shoot.
That's how you know you're a PC gamer at heart... Heh.

For me it was Super Mario Bros.; the one that came WITHOUT Duck Hunt. I was about 2-3 at the time and we got it the X-mas it came out... haven't looked back since.

Roland On The Ropes - Amstrad CPC464, circa 1984. Now get off my lawn!
Yeah, that beats mine. Movie monster on C64 circa 1985-86 I'd say. All these youngster and their "poket-mon" they probably don't even KNOW how a cassete player works.
Ah, the joy of the 8-minute load, the border flashing in time to the squealing and the dreaded "read error b" because you had left the tape in the player unwound and it had gotten a kink right at the end.

I also had a disk drive, that cost almost as much as the computer did and took 3" disks that hardly any software companies ever actually released anything on. And when they did, it was usually 3 times as expensive as buying it on cassette.

I remember a friend had the 5.25" disk drive for the C64 - that went down in history as the only computer ever that loaded faster from tapes than it did from disks! =D

Scary fact which has just occurred to me - my YOUNGEST son is now older than I was when I first picked up that crappy Amsoft joystick all those years ago.......

I SAID OFF MY LAWN DAMMIT!!!

Either Mario 64 or Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
My mom had to read the words to me... I don't remember how old I was.
The first game I REALLY got into though, was Jak.
I love that game still.

The original Castle Wolfenstein on my brand new Tandy 1000 IBM-Compatible PC. I remember escaping with the plans only once, then dismayed to see that i only won a chance to play the game again at the Corporal Rank.

I was all about uses grenades to take out the SS. Only way to make sure.

the first game I ever played was Alien Trilogy on Sega Saturn. I loved that game so damn much ^^ But then again, I was about 2 years old at the time.
First game I ever OWNED was Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus on PS1. Became one of my favourite games of all time!
Why did the Oddworld series have to die? :(

..oh, and I got Alien Trilogy on my PS1 later on. I completed the game when I was about 3/4 years old. Shows how easy it is.

I'm trying to remember... I can't... But it was probably stuff on the NES that the family had. I'll have to ask around and see if anybody remembers.

I remember fondly though Tetris on the GB, obviously Super Mario Bros and Another World on the Mega Drive.
