Yeah, Google seems to enjoy making that same mistake too. I'd never even heard of The Reverend Horton Heat until I was searching for the new Reverend and the Makers album on google this evening... :s
well The Reverend Horton Heat has been known as The Reverend for a lot longer and is a bit better and not as generic sounding

First gig was The Rolling Stones at Twickinham stadium, 07? Amazing show, absolutely packed but was right at the front. Last gig was Dream Theater last weekend, which wasn't too bad.. but christ did it go on.. Oh, and favourite gig was Reel Big Fish last year.

Free concert at the beach, Ziggy Marley (son of the most illustrious Bob) was playing. Only went cos I hoped he would play his dad's songs (which he did). All in all, it was what you would expect from a reggae concert, lots of drunken dancing around and lots of marijuana being passed about.
Ended up buying a hilariously overpriced Ziggy Marley t-shirt from a stoned Pole too.

Good times.

Absolutely fantastic.

I've played more gigs than I've seen.
I second this. Actually, it probably balances out.

My first concert was Aerosmith during the Nine Lives tour. It was a good concert but there was a woman in front of me who was about 200 pounds too heavy and she liked to stand in her chair a lot. So the concert was a mix of watching Steve Tyler and the gang and staring into the dark void of a red spandex wrapped ass. I still to this day admire the strength of the chair.

First gig was Amen, playing in Leeds back in 2002.
It was awesome.

What the hell did you all do wrong to get the Vengaboys?
That's pretty brutal.

Yeah, I really want to go to a festival, but I just can't afford it. I'm trying to find a job though and if I can afford to get tickets and camping stuff me and my younger brother (he's 17 now) might try and get tickets for the V Festival next year. Probably Stafford, since it's not too far for us and we can get the train or get our parents to drop us off. Hopefully we can get weekend tickets but it all depends on finances, really... :s

My first concert was a madness concert on their come back tour. How cool was i :p? It was quite cool but i don't think people consider madness as cool.

No idea, I guess LUU just don't like students, which would be ironic indeed since it's run by and made up of 30000 of the buggers including me. Worst part was when the organisers booked them again this year despite the bad reception last year. I think they just enjoy tormenting Freshers. At least we've got some good bands this year though, when the Leeds 02 Academy opened last year we were really badly hit, LUU used to get all the best acts and they all decided to bugger off to the Academy when it opened. At least this year we've got some half decent groups now, such as the aforementioned Reverend and the Makers...

So, what was yours? Do any of you remember the first concert you went to? Who was playing, where was it, who opened it, were they any good? Any funny or painful anecdotes to tell?
My first gig was actually by a trash metal band called Flesh Made Sin; at that time I was 13 or so and listened to Blink 182. Yeah. There were no openers, as far as I recall, and if they were any good? No damn clue. I was a kid standing with a friend or 3 amongst a group of about 50 headbanging hell's angels.

Aside from that one, the gig that actually 'feels' like my first (seeing as I didn't see any gigs for a good 2 years since Flesh Made Sin) was Taking Back Sunday; I wasn't a huge fan of the band but a friend of mine was and she really wanted to go so just dragged me along just to be allowed to. I can't remember exactly where it was, but it was definitely in one of the more famous halls in Amsterdam (Melkweg or Paradiso). They played pretty decently back then and the only thing I really thought was a shame about the concert is that the band didn't open up with "Cute without the 'E'"; the intro to that song would've made it a brilliant opener. As to who opened for them, I have to say I forgot.
