I don't know if I've been in an adult iteration of love yet. Everything from the teenage years and earlier is silly and nowhere close to my current definition.

The first girl, I have told her that I love her, our relationship lasted for four years. We were talking about marriage even. Shortly there after, she ended our relationship saying that she couldn't make me happy.

How was your first love, and what did it do to/for you?"
She was the best person I ever had and I fucked it all up. It showed me how pessimistic, depressed, and insecure I was. If I was going to have another serious relationship, I need to fix those issues about myself.

My first love... If we are talking about legitimate love here, and not just relationships, I would say my first love would have been the girl that just dumped me a month or so back.... It was, seriously something my heart never had before, and it opened my eyes..... And also pain I thought I've had worse but I was kidding myself.. But still, with the depth of the human heart she showed me I won't forget, and I don't feel like backing down from love.... Its just so complex and intricate and beautiful, its like being in a infinite cycle of death and rebirth of nature, but not like it at the same time....

I still miss my beloved though

My first love was a VERY pretty girl whom I loved very much, Don't assume your standards are too high, you just want to find the right person. As for me, it went great for a while, then after three years she got distant from me and things just went downhill from there... But the way I see it it's the only way things could have panned out, I was making MANY mistakes and not realizing it, anyways she is still the only person I loved to this day, but as time passes you kinda get over it. I say kinda because talking about it still leaves a bitter taste.

Off topic: I have a thing for red heads too...

Ummm a cartoon is not a girl... I don't think that's entirely healthy youngblood.

Uhh first girl?
I was 15/16 she was the same age. After dating for about a year she got pregnant. Which was a bit heady for kids our age. After about 7 months of pregnancy she took her own life and that of my unborn daughter. April 5th... I have a tattoo of what we planned on naming the girl over my heart...
What did it teach me? Forced me to grow up and gave me trust, commitment and intimacy issues that have taken a great deal of time to overcome.

I'm 14 so I still haven't really loved any girl yet, I mean I've liked some, of course, but that's another thing.

I realize she isn't a real girl, but crushing on cartoon characters isn't very unnormal [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.201535-Cartoon-anime-crushes#6674005].

I'm sorry to hear about all that happened to you though. I can't imagine what that must have been like.

My fisrt love was another mans wife, but after a while I realized there was no chance so I just gave up on that. It taught me that other mens wives have no interest in high school boys.

I didn't tell her and she moved away, there isn't a day goes by that I don't think about her, and it has been 3 years. If I could change anything in my life, this would be it.

I have three girls who, in various ways, claimed the title of my "first love".

There was the girl I dated from age 11 through 13, although "dated" might be a strong word indeed---we were just about inseparable, a true case of puppy love, and she's still one of my best friends 20 years later. Keep in mind I grew up before MTV invented hypersexualized childhood, so that accounts for getting all the way into the early stages of puberty without someone expecting me to fuck the girl.

Then there was the girl I loved at 16-17 and to whom I lost my virginity. That was high school love, the kind of love where you think you're going to live forever after and have a bunch of babies (and considering our lack of dedication to common sexual sense it's a wonder we didn't---the gods must clearly be watching over me)...and we broke up after being together for a total of seven months as we just kind of outgrew each other. Oh well...at least it got me on the board.

And then there was my first real, adult, grown-up, honest-to-gods, capital letters LOVE, at age 20. I loved her then---13 years later I still love her, and I always will. Our relationship ended because she literally descended into madness. Schizophrenia, DSM-IV genuine psychiatrist diagnosis schizophrenia. And watching her slip away from me...I've dedicated the "Forever Rachel" song from Final Fantasy VI to her. I hope she's OK. I haven't seen her since everything went down.

My first love was in 5th grade, her name was steph. i swear to god i though we would be together forevever but her closest girltfreinds didnt like me and told her that i was unfaithfull. i wasn't of course, i was 12 i barley undrstood the dynamics of a relationship let alone the concept of "cheating", but i was old enough to experience love and i was definetly old enough to experience heartbreak.

I learned something about the differences between men and women. if my guy-freinds wouldve told me steph was unfaithfull i would have confronted her about it. but she didnt even talk to me after the rumor was created. i tried talking to her but her mind was made up. I've had numerouse fucked up relationships ever since.

i think the experiance might have made me subconciously distrust women. steph in 5th grade to this day is my longest lasting relationship (2 years).

my first love?
not sure i strictly believe in it
but i know for sure who i would describe as such if i had to
and i still see her a lot
so it's like we've always been best friends even when we stopped going out
but i wouldn't be without her, she's a bit brilliant

THe first girl I liked ending up going out with the bully who was trying to kill me at the time.

The first girl I went out with (at the not so tender age of 19) didn't really give a crap about me, and went out of her way to make me think as such...and then (I assume) when her new boyfriend left her, tried to start using me again, so I ignored her.

Now I've decided I'm better off not becoming dependant on anyone.

Bottom line, love's great if you were born perfectly normal and not ugly. If you were born defective with a face that usually only appears in HP lovecrafts most demented dreams, then forget about it.

My first love was back when I was in middle school.

She made me feel happy and not care about when bad things happened (My school work went down the toilet... but that wasn't really a problem because the only thing that matters in school is the exams at the very end)

She left me after a few months in high school and got engaged and pregnant...

She broke my heart and since then I stopped caring about alot of things, and also become extremely violent on Wednesdays...

Ah, first love...you may think I'm being facetious, but I had the stereotypical experience with my first love, which can aptly be described by one song a majority of my generation are familiar with...

CRAAAAAAAAAAWLING IIIIIIIIIN MY SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN
THESE WOOOOOUUUUUUUNDS THEY WIIIIIIIIIILL NOT HEAAAAAAAAL
FEEEAAAAAAR IS HOOOOOOOOOW I FAAAAAAAAAAALL
CONFUUUUUUUUSING WHAAAAAAT IS REAAAAAAAAAAL

There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
Consuming...confusing
This lack of self-control I fear is never ending
Controlling...I can't seem

To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(Without a sense of confidence, I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
SO INSECUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE

CRAAAAAAAAAAWLING IIIIIIIIIN MY SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN
THESE WOOOOOUUUUUUUNDS THEY WIIIIIIIIIILL NOT HEAAAAAAAAL
FEEEAAAAAAR IS HOOOOOOOOOW I FAAAAAAAAAAALL
CONFUUUUUUUUSING WHAAAAAAT IS REAAAAAAAAAAL

Discomfort, endlessly has pulled itself upon me
Distracting...reacting
Against my will I stand beside my own reflection
It`s haunting...how I can't seem...

To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(Without a sense of confidence, I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
SO INSECUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE

CRAAAAAAAAAAWLING IIIIIIIIIN MY SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN
THESE WOOOOOUUUUUUUNDS THEY WIIIIIIIIIILL NOT HEAAAAAAAAL
FEEEAAAAAAR IS HOOOOOOOOOW I FAAAAAAAAAAALL
CONFUUUUUUUUSING WHAAAAAAT IS REAAAAAAAAAAL

Oh, young love.

My first love meant so much more to me after we broke up. its not that i started to appreciate her more or wished i had loved her when i had the chance, it was more that i don't think we were meant to be romantic. We we much better together when we were just friends.

That would be my current love, I think.

He has no idea.
I can only suggest that you tell him.

The real purpose of this post is to say Welcome to the Escapist though. Hope you have a good time. Remember: Don't feed the trolls, report and move on and all that.
