Hmm.. Do text adventures count? i used to play a lot of those on the speccy. But the first proper one i guess with "fancy graphics" was the first Ultima.

I think KotOR was my first RPG, not a bad introduction.

Any Bioware game will show you what a great RPG looks like.

KotOR was my first game as well. Such a brilliant game.

I think it was called 'Dungeon Master' for the ZX Spectrum. Text based Dungeon Romp with D&D rules.

Beyond Oasis is still an AMAZING game, though. I played it for the first time on "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection".

Pokemon is classified as a "real" RPG... Unless you think that sword & spell themes are the only tru RPGs. If that's the case, you probably have a bone to pick with games like Borderlands and Fallout 3!

Well, it's pretty much an RPG for kids, so I don't think of it as a "real" RPG.
