We had dial up so it was slow and annoying and being a person of 8 I didn't have time for it thought it was just going to be a fad. Now I love it and couldn't imagine a world without it.

I'm a rather oblivious person. I didn't even know what the internet was until I saw a commercials for AOL & Windows 95. Ma said it wouldn;t work on our Mac 128k. In 1998, I went to highschool & ma got me a new computer "for homework." & I can tell you, I never once used that computer for any homeswork.

The internet was the shits back then; horrendous website designs in horrendous color schemes, poor quality moving gifs, & midis were 80% of the stuff I encountered. I mostly looked up shit I was into at the time, like syndicated anime (which has been around in extreme moderation since Robotech & Voltron), & Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicals. A year latter Napster came out.

At school in the library, our search engine was Netscape. I remember it sucking & the speed being very slow. I used it to do a highschool research paper on the history of Sonic the Hedgehog, lol. I was really into the comic book series back then. Now I read Batman, Deadpool, Powergirl, etc.

I remember my short & brief infatuation with AOL & chatrooms, before I ended up dispising both.

I browsed the Cartoon Network games section and played this cool Gundam strategy game.

You know, when my dial-up actually worked.

I think I was around age 9 or 10. I can't remember anything I did on the internet before my parents upgraded from the shitty dial up to decent internet. I visited Newgrounds constantly, and sometimes went on Ebaulms world. And Runescape... Those dark, dark years, entire days of summer vacation being spent mindlessly mining coal and selling it for gold... Until one day, I became rich enough to finally become that guy that brought coal from people for 100 gold each and sold it for roughly 120 gold each in larger quantities to the richer folks, back when Runescape had an economy.

And I played a ton of Warcraft 3.

I also used to visit this animation site called "make things move" (I think it had a different name earlier). It was a site run by a bunch of the big flash animators like Dan Palidan and Gel, I used to do some shitty stick man animations and stuff.

That's about all I remember from my internet days of old.

What was it like? Awe-inspiring? What site/sites did you visit? Did you find it confusing? Scary? Interesting? What was your first time on the internet like?
- snip- ...they intentionally googled "Porn" to see what came up..

Also, include how long ago this was (if you remember). It's ok if it was only recently, some people around the world still don't believe the internet has caught on.
Sites, Google, Web? My first time on the net (and a lot afterwards) was spent on news groups, as the web was almost non-existant and Google was many years in the future. Mind you, porn may or may not have figured...

I honestly can't remember. I think it was searching for cheats for Age of Empires 2, but I might be wrong. It wasn't awe-inspiring at all, just a source of info.

I played a fruit-juice sponsored game with Wario in it, thinking that it was the epitome of online games.

I haven't done that in a long time. Always feels so eerie doing it.

The very first time I used the net I was 5 or 6. Me and mum went on about 8 30pm because apparently it was faster when there was less people on. All I remember doing was looking up the Action Man. When I was 10 I used to go on the net all the time at the libary, I'd pay $1.50 for an hour and print off DBZ pictures and email cute girls. Shit was a lot simpler then haha. When I got the internet at home I'd spend all my time on the Australian PS2 magazine forums, photoshop tutorial sites and play Deltaforce Landwarrior online.

Good fuckin' times!
