"When mining, carry a compass."
There's always a chance that I could get lost down there and end up needing to dig straight up to break free. When this happens, it's best to have a compass so I can get back to my spawn point without needing to kill myself or employ a map rendering program. I have gotten completely lost once before
"Minecraft has zero servers."
I'm sorry, but this is pretty much true. If you try to join a Minecraft server, often it'll tell you it's outdated, or the connection will time out. Many servers that ARE running, tend to have a whitelist. Some are also pay servers. If you DO manage to find a normal server to get into, chances are there'll be about a 20 second delay between your actions and the server's recognition of your actions. Now say you finally find a server that doesn't have a whitelist, doesn't charge money, doesn't lag, and is actually up to date. Well guess what? They won't let you handle lava or explosives or anything cool unless you go through the tedious registration process to their pointless and completely arbitrary forum site so you can request a higher rank. And sometimes even THAT isn't enough. Sometimes they also make you brown-nose a server regular until he puts in a good word for you first. So really, there might as well not be any servers, because most existing ones suck.
