Alright, now, the people.
People of Ahdjh:
a) Physical Description; An average Ehrehnjhahl person has a Mediterranean tan, if not a little darker, with a solid facial structure and rounded face bones. Greek noses and deep-set eyes are the archetype. Brown hair is most common, but there's often black. Few people grow much facial hair, but it's not too uncommon for people to have stubble.
Citizen males stand mostly between 5'10"-6'5". Women at 5'5"-6'00". Due to active lifestyles, there are few overweight people, and maybe a handful of obese.
No uncommon genetic features in feet or hands. Body hair is also less prominent. Lifespan is an average of 60-70 years
b) Clothing; In Ahdjh, the men generally wear combination pantaloons-short sleeved shirts as undergarments. Often topped by varying types of split-robes, depending on class or heritage. Head wear is much like a small, continental hat, usually made of felt. Though often the head is uncovered.
c) Culture;
i) Relationships; This is where I play full cards. These are people under "my" rule, so heavy attention is paid to things like parenting and relationships. This is displayed by the people being generally well adjusted and in good relationships with both families and couples, what (I) believe is a key foundation for a strong society. Dating amongst teenagers is followed with focus on learning from relationships, more so than using them as a past time (which I find is far too common in, at least, my school). Usually being legally bound is dependent on how long a couple has been in a relationship, followed by a sort of "test". Usually copulation happens afterward, and it's rare for people to have sex outside of this binding.
(don't see this as me advocating some religious sense, I just see it as a character trait. This binding isn't so much to be compared to marriage as a long, healthy relationship, which I happen to consider is one of the more appropriate mediums for sexual interaction)
ii) Music & Arts; Surprisingly lacking in Ahdjh, the most common instrument is a sort of lyre, closely followed by a pan flute. Due to there not being much art coming from Ahdjh, art merchants make a healthy profit from art-hungry citizens. The King (me) decided this was a good custom, financially. Although local artists are welcome to flourish, (I) rely more heavily on foreign artists.
iii) Religion; The people of Ahdjh, and a good amount of Kehrahn are of a pantheist/animist religion called Gohm. The religion has little mythology or "great questions", and instead is more based upon meditative practices, and strong ethical and moral values. A symbol of Gohm is often the turtle. A special turtle; a guhzh pehntrehl (lit. "soft grass turtle/moss turtle"). It is symbolic because in Gohm, they group things with spirits as "the earth, and stones, the grass, and plants, and man, and animals", so the turtle is seen as having all three, or at least, representing all three in one being (moss grows on the turtle's shell. The shell is considered the "earth and stone").
iv) Cuisine; Most famous foods from Ehrehnjhahl are recipes involving lobsters, spices and fruits. Wine is integrated into the culture, and is usually first served when a person has reached the considered adulthood.
v) Language; I haven't finished the language yet, and am sort of making it up as I go along, but sufficed to say that it's simple enough when spoken, and there are few real rules to it. Written, it's a bit tricky though. The structure I made up is that there's one letter for all the vowels, except "i" and "y", which aren't in the language. All the vowels are a short vowel sounds. The vowel sound is different depending on whatever accent is or isn't on the following letter. The sounds for letters like "c", "f", "h", "i", "p", "q", "t", "v", "w", "x", "y" and "z" aren't present in the language, though may appear when anglicized. The letters are unique, and I'm not finished with them yet.
Alright, there. I took a lot of breaks while writing that, but I'll finish with the city itself tomorrow. If anybody cares, I was planning to write a story about all this, and I wanted to build up civilizations first. You could consider this as me asking ideas about civilizations, and if I could get anybody's permission to use some of them posted here, it'd make for interesting plots.
'Night everyone.
